Pros: Very clean room. Clean pool and hot tub facilities. This hotel is very classy and well kept while also reasonably priced. While we didn’t take advantage of their breakfast during the two nights we stayed there, their dining room is so attractive. It’s set up very welcoming, with a rustic charm (as is the entire hotel’s theme). You can also order from one of two restaurants across the parking lot and right across the highway and go pick up your meal in 15-20 minutes to enjoy in your hotel room. Con: The particular receptionist that we checked in with and purchased snacks from later on (the first evening we arrived) greatly lacks customer service skills. She has dark hair with some blue in it, but I cannot remember her name. Her attitude is all around is very unwelcoming and unpleasant. When we checked in with her she seemed half asleep and as if she’d rather be anywhere but where she was at that moment. And later on, although I was there alone with my four young children who were all being well behaved, she oddly took annoyance with me while we were purchasing snacks that same evening. We quietly placed all of our items on the front desk and waited patiently as she finished up speaking to another customer on the phone, and I asked, “will you be able to charge our room for all this?” once she had hung up. This is because at a previous hotel we stayed at, they asked that we pay for toiletries and goods with cash only. But for some reason she thought that I was pressuring her to hurry up and ring up our items and said, “YES. I will. Just give me a minute ok??” To which I was totally confused by her irritation and said, “oh I’m sorry, I just meant… are we able to charge it to our room or do we need to use cash?” and she responded again with annoyance and said “yeah you can charge your room ...” as if I was asking a very invalid question. Not once making eye contact with me. Then after she apparently had rung up all of our items… she said nothing, so I said, “did they all get rung up? Are we good?” and she said “yeah…” with this odd annoyance again. Maybe management can speak to her about acting more positive and not making customers feel that they are burdening her. (?) I normally wouldn’t even post reviews but, it seems so odd to me that someone would be put in customer service who acts like this.…
I’ve stayed at the Ruby in the past on business- this time I brought the whole GANG! Skiing at nearby Schweitzer Mountain and then endless sledding Hottub swimming and don’t forget compimentaryhot fresh cookies at front desk- FANTASTIC way to start new year. Thanks Nicole, Mike, Cindy and everyone one on the team at Hotel Ruby! We will tell our friends and be back soon!
Hotel Ruby Sandpoint Ponderay Hotel Ruby is a Hidden Gem! 874075950 Hotel Ruby in Ponderay is a hidden gem! We travel with our RV each year to ski British Columbia and Alberta. The RV park we use to stay at in Sandpoint is no longer open for the winter… We called every hotel in Sandpoint and Ponderay and none could accommodate us dropping our RV so we could ski Schweitzer. From the moment we called Hotel Ruby, staff and management friendliness was apparent. They not only accommodated us parking a 32 foot travel trailer in their parking lot, but we’re so accommodating and positive throughout our stay. The hotel is clean, and elegant in its own way - nice breakfast area, fruit always available on the tables, pool table, exercise gym, heated pool and two hot tubs! We rented the least expensive room so it wasn’t huge, but the room was exceptionally nice! The hotel also owns two restaurants on the property. We feature this hotel and their Farmhouse restaurant on our Schweitzer video. Duke Outdoors Adventures - Is it worth it™…
Great-priced lodge filled with thoughtful touches like plush window bench, ski storage, pool table, community dining, outdoor firepits and TWO hot tubs. Most amenities per euro in all of the Inland NW Alps.
The room was clean and quiet. Loved the indoor pool and hot tub with a fire pit and nice outdoor seating. The restaurant next door serves up great smoked food with cold brew. The breakfast was standard and did the job.
Clean and friendly!!! Didn't want to leave! Comfortable bed and excellent hot tub!!! Super cool fire pits outside! Hope to stay with them again sooner than later. I need to say more but that's all I have for now
Rooms were smaller than I expected. The first room they gave me didn't have any heat, but they quickly moved me to a different room, and I slept very well. I'll definitely go back if/when the need arises.
I have always stayed at the Ruby Ponderay when I visit my daughter, son-in-law, and grand children. And I have never had a bad stay. The rooms are comfortable, the pool and spas are great for sore muscles after a day wrestling with two young boys, and the breakfast gets me off to a good start every day. The free WIFI helps as I have to regularly update my company website even though I am technically on vacation. I couldn't imagine staying anyplace else.
I went for a personal retreat and it was perfect. The entire hotel was very clean and nice. I enjoyed the quiet time to be able to work on my book. It was nice to go in the slower season. I will definitely go again. I also like that the entire hotel is smoke free.
Our house is under construction and not quiet ready to hosting guests! We had the guests stay in the completed level and WE went to the hotel! Kids loved being in the pool and the access to good food made for a great week!
