We stopped in Lava Hot Springs on our way to SLC. The snow was coming down! We were lucky to come across Lava Spa Motel & RV as most of the rooms in the town were booked or would not allow our service animal. Rachel, the manager was accommodating as soon as we pulled in. She got us a "pet friendly" room and made sure we had all we needed after a long drive in the snow. The room she gave us was warm, comfy, clean & quiet!
This was our 4th yr staying here.We usually stay in their RV park & really enjoy the location..right on the river everyone floats down.. So fun! We got a room this yr..July 4th weekend & was the best value for the money we believe. It had a fridge, microwave, bathtub/shower & air! Bed was comfy & room was clean & there was parking(always hard to find) Other family had to pay considerably more for a little nicer or the same for alot less(no air & shared baths)! The couple running it were really friendly & helpful. We will return next year!
Our family was so excited to stay here for a family reunion. The staff was nice upon greeting. We quickly learned that 3 of our rooms didn’t have the AC working properly. Had it not been for my husband’s career being an AC tech, we would not have had working AC. The Managment told us, “we have staff service them every other week. Maybe they didn’t do it....” this was the extent of the problem, but they did borrow us a shop vac so my husband could clean all our evaporator coils and got them working. The following night we moved our dinner party to the location the manager told us was appropriate. While eating, a situation arose with another customer and our family. They were not sober and used violence and in appropriate language (we had a lot of little children around). We did our best to handle the situation and resolve it. It escalated and they complained to managment. Managment then requested that, “people staying there are saying you are being loud and disruptive. I need you to move your easy up and future meals to the grassy area on the other side of the motel and not here where everyone is... we just want to make everyone’s stay here a happy one.” My cousin complained what they did and how it was not ok. The manager told him she already spoke to them. How could she have if she didn’t talk to us yet to hear our side of things. We felt she was accommodating to the family that threw the loudest and biggest fit while we quickly took down our easy up and ended our dinner. The chairs in the room smell like butt (we found this out while playing hide and go seek in our room). Plumbing vibrates in the shower so shower earlier when it won’t wake anyone. Buy lots of ice and bring a cooler because your fridge may not be plugged in and cold ready for your food. They were great about holding our room key for us when we wanted to go down the river and complimented this idea and were going to use the option for future guests. We were told not to leave anywhere or we would lose our parking spot. Plan a trip that is in walking distance. They have more rooms than they do parking.…
We have stayed here 4 times, the rooms are good, some rooms need a facelift but the owners are super friendly. The prices are reasonable and right across the street is Lava Hot Springs..Clean and will continue to return here.
After spending an hour walking around town trying to figure out where to stay (it was a weekday off season) we decided on the Lava Spa Motel for 3 reasons. 1. It was recommended by the lady at the tourist info. for a low cost place to stay. 2. It was right across the street from our destination- the hot springs and 3. The manager couple were super friendly and accommodating. The place is old and not pristine but we slept great, bed was comfy, fan kept room at right temp. and stayed on all night so it kept sounds out of room. It didn’t kick on and off like some do. and we even got good free coffee in the morning. We would definitely stay here again because of the hospitality.
