We really did enjoy our stay. Our site was virtually level. The hook ups were positioned wonderfully. The space and area for our use was ample. The shower facilities and indoor restrooms were clean and comfortable. Nice character to the different rooms, and had a good home feel to them. We were visiting during the off-season, so not all of the activities were out and available. However, you can tell the upgrades that are taking place are coming from ownership that cares, and will end up with a very nice facility. The laundry room is fairly large, and the equipment seems to be in very good order. They have several traditional KOA cabins as well as some brand new units that will be very nice places to stay. We had a RV site for several days, and also rented a couple of cabins for our adult children. The cabins were heated well, and both couples reported feeling very comfortable and enjoyed their stay. You are EZ walking distance into town. Less than 10 minutes to the hot springs. Less than 15 minutes to the market. We were able to leave the truck parked, and just walk. It was great! The only drawback we felt is not anything within the control of ownership. Lava Hot Springs is effectively in a canyon. There just isn’t very much width to the canyon. Consequently, no part of town is very far from the highway and railroad tracks. So, at night the train and highway traffic noise cannot be avoided. I’ve stayed in places that are much noisier, but you may consider having earplugs on hand if you are a bit more sensitive than I am. We already booked our trip for next year, using the same site we were on this year. For the minor inconvenience of the noise, everything else was very welcoming. We look forward to being regulars!…
Prior to our first camping trip, ever, I called the office a few times with some questions. Both times I called , the person answering the phone was very rude. Wasn’t polite and seemed annoyed that I called twice (separate days). This made me doubt that it was going to be a fun education. Upon arrival; the young man who was at the front desk was very pleasant and accommodating that it made me feel at ease. The rest of our stay was met with friendly store/office clerks. Would definitely stay there again.
Ran into a little glitch when we arrived but Rudy and his wife (forgot her name) were very helpful at getting things back to normal. I would recommend this property. They are working on some improvements which will enhance the property.
We enjoyed our visit in these nice cabins. The back has a very large deck that we had a BBq dinner and a movie with the sound of the river in the background. Nice continuous hot water for a good long shower and lots of parking out front.
management really takes it serious when creating an amazing it environment. So many improvements in the last few years. I love to hear the train from the Thunder Mountain railroad rumble past. I love the river. In the summer of the trees provide amazing shade. Staff is always very helpful and friendly. I have been camping at this KOA for the last two decades. If you don't have it RV, the cabins are very affordable and comfortable.
