Good service at dinner but room was 90 degrees and cooled down to 85 at midnight after opening the windows. Window mount ac unit did not work only ran for 5 minutes before shutting off. Could not sleep all night. Called front desk with no answer. Do not recommend during summer time
We stayed one night at Riverside Inn, a wonderfully quaint hotel in Lava Hot Springs. Portneuf Restaurant on-site was great. Modern bath in the room, comfy beds, but everything else was original traditional decor. Beautiful woodwork. Three hot tubs to choose from, tiled and attractive, robes provided, water was very hot. Great breakfast included. Staff were as friendly as could be. Lots of tubing sites in town.
There were no major chains nearby and the Riverside Inn looked like it was in a lovely location on the Portneuf River (IT IS!!) I was so glad i had reserved the Riverside Inn as it was the nicest place by far in the town to stay, and VERY reasonably priced! The hotel has three private thermal pools you can reserve and soak in! Cathy at the front desk was fantastic when we arrived. She gave us 50% off coupons to tube down the river (it was hot), and showed us where the robes and towels were for the mineral pools. She also helped us to get the best rate, including a $35 credit to the onsite restaurant at Portneuf Grill: an absolutely incredible restaurant, and almost too good to believe!! The hotel is historic and charming, if in need of a little updating, but clean and so very comfortable! We had a nice size room with a king bed that was so comfy! A nice clean bathroom with lovely amenities. . There was ice available as well as ice cold water and coffee all day. Our room was on the third floor overlooking the river. At the top of the stairs was a very charming library with super comfortable chairs and ottomans. Besides books, there were also games to borrow! Breakfast was served by the kind and helpful Barrista who made wonderful coffees (they have regular non espresso available too) This was included in our reasonable room price (not the cappuccinos). This hotel could teach a course on "extreme hospitality"!! …
We stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of June and room was available when we arrived. Room 302 is a queen bed and most likely would go with a king next time. Keep in mind that this is a older hotel but was been well kept. The woman at the front desk (name I cannot remember) changed our reservation to a senior package and offered us a 35.00 voucher to use for dinner, which we had planned to do the second night. Also vouchers for breakfast were appreciated but the food options were not basic enough. If the order item says coffee cake, I would expect something you can eat for breakfast and not chocolate lava cake. (my only negative item.) The sign up list to use the spa rooms is a great idea and we had no issued to use their spa facilities when we wanted as this makes it private without anyone sharing your spa room and you are allowed 30 minutes. Thanks for a great stay and enjoyable dinner for our birthday celebration.…
Lava Hot Springs is a “must” stop on our trips from Ohio to visit our family in Oregon, and, after trying several other lodgings, the Riverside Inn & Spa is our Lava home. The rooms are cozy and well-appointed, and the great room and common areas, welcoming. In the years since purchasing the Riverside Inn, Gail Palen’s renovations have brought a quiet elegance to the historic hotel. The private soaking rooms on the lower level have been transformed from dingy, dated hot tubs to beautifully tiled, intimate retreats for guests. The Inn offers full relaxation massages, and though we have not availed ourselves of these opportunities, I am planning “The Works” on our next visit. We highly recommend the Portneuf Grille & Lounge, also on the lower level, which offers gourmet fare along with live music on certain evenings. My review wouldn’t be complete without commending the staff, who over the years have become like family. Whether it is your first visit or your twenty-first, you will feel welcomed to the warmth of this Lava Hot Springs landmark.…
We are currently living on the east coast and loved the old west charm of this historic hotel. It was very convenient having the mineral baths available right at the hotel. The tubs were spacious, clean and easy to reserve at the desk. The cafe for breakfast was amazing. Plenty of food and it was delicious; specialty coffees and mimosas were available. The restaurant downstairs was very good too with an upscale menu, great wine selection and specialty cocktails. Most of the staff was pleasant and helpful. It was also walking distance from everything in town and a lovely setting right on the river. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch just reading or having a glass of wine; listening to the river and watching the train in the distance.
We recommend the hotel if you like historic places with charm, like we do. Gayle the owner is super friendly & accommodating. Perfect location on the river, the restaurant is excellent (but overpriced) & the morning breakfast cafe serves just enough. It is nice to have private hot pools, just a step away from our room. Staff seems confused & most are not friendly. Lots of miscommunication from making our reservation to our departure. If we ever went to Lava Hot Springs again, we would stay here because it seems the best in town, but it is not our kind of town so we would
The room was clean but they don't have central air, so they put in these window mounts in some rooms. Our room had one that sits on the floor and a dryer tubing runs the hot air outside. It was cracked so unless you were right in front of the cooler it was hot and miserable. Portneuf restaurant downstairs was good but overpriced. I would steer clear of this place overpriced and hot yeah made our vacation suck, besides I wasn't impressed at all with Lava hot springs, alot of the stuff we wanted to do we couldn't. First and last time I ever go there!!
We checked in early with an upgrade Lovely clean and spacious room Bed comfortable and good linens ....a head board for the bed would have been nice .. A few amenities in the bathroom ...green so good The halls and stairs could have been cleaner ..but in all a nice hotel Staff very friendly and helpful They provide robes and towels to use in the hot pools ... They gave us a $10 dollar voucher for dinner We had dinner in the dining room but we were disappointed in the food and it was expensive But breakfast was beyond five stars and we really enjoyed We would stay again but eat dinner elsewhere
Had a wonderful time at the Riverside from the very start! We spent the night in one room upstairs and then discovered that our dog has acrophobia, and we were given a room up a short flight of stairs so she was more comfortable. Gail and everyone else went out of their way to make us comfortable and our dogs as well. The desk staff, the breakfast staff, and everyone on duty in the hotel were terrific. The bar manager was the only difficult bump in our stay, but a quick word with management took care of that. The rooms were very clean, and quiet, and our relaxation was quality. The food was excellent, and the bar serves honest drinks. Kudos to the entire staff for being so friendly and attentive. I have a great love for Lava Hot Springs and try to go as often as possible, and the idea of a stay at the Riverside is excellent incentive. …
