I had the PLEASURE of staying at this small, cozy inn while visiting the Sun Valley area. We were greeted with smiles, and made to feel welcome. My daughter and I went to the pool and hot tub which were clean and relaxing. There was a nice dry sauna next to the pool as well! With COVID, new rules are stipulating what should be removed from rooms. Two of these items are pens and notepads. I phoned to the front desk to ask them for these items, as I collect them everywhere I go for memorabilia sake. Not only did the caring young lady at the front desk send me notepads and pens, she also sent up and extra metal water bottle with the hotel logo on it, that they give each guest in the room to keep. She sent a wine bottle opener (with their logo on it) and two big cookies. WOW!! Did I feel special and appreciated! Some patrons may not be interested in these items, but for us, it was so awesome to receive their generous gifts and memory makers. They did not have to do that. We were very grateful. Our room was very very clean, very comfortable, and cozy. We had a good sized balcony with multi-colored flowers in boxes all along the rail. So beautiful! Chairs and a table with plenty of space to walk around. The bed was comfy, and we slept well. The bathroom is quite upscale with a lovely tiled shower, a full clean tub, and wise lovely double sinks. My favorite part were the upscale toiletries by L’Occitane, and a little bag of purple bath salts. Breakfast was delicious, and made to order eggs with many side items— plenty to eat! Nice hot tea selections as well. I just would like to say THANK YOU to the entire staff that made our time there so pleasant!! Hindsight 20/20— We WISH we had stayed there the whole 3 day trip, and not stayed at the Sun Valley Resort at all. NOW we know!! Knob Hill is what we hoped for and GOT! We cannot say the same for their previously mentioned competitors. Knob Hill— we WILL be back!!! Highly recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights just before the 4th of July. The room was exceptional and the grounds and staff amazing. North view of the Sawtooth Range and a great balcony with tons of room with morning sun and evening sunsets. The kitchen must be great - unfortunately we had not booked reservations for dinner in advance and could not get a table. However, we got to test the bar. Top notch. We will be back, and hopefully without face coverings! BTW, our 9 year old golden retriever loved it as well. This was a very nice dog friendly room for a well mannered canine.

We ventured out of our home for a road trip to Idaho, somewhat wary of the journey because of Covid-19, but thoughtful about how it could be done. Ketchum, the last home of writer Ernest Hemingway, was the place we decided to go. With its detailed description of a daily cleanliness routine, the Dunn family-owned Knob Hill Inn inspired a high level of confidence, and it did not disappoint. Our third-floor room had access to a private deck with views of peaks and pines and the Ketchum Cemetery, just behind a row of trees, where Hemingway, his wife, Mary, and son, Jack, are buried. And the property is definitely within walking distance of downtown, which on our visit was largely devoid of visitors during the week. But the inn's restaurant was open, the food was great, breakfast more than ample, and the waitstaff abided by Covid rules of engagement - masks, gloves, restaurant seating six feet apart from others, table cleansing after each sitting, etc. We, of course, did too, wearing masks in public spaces. Our room was spotless (thanks to caring housekeeping staff) and the bed comfortable. A deck door to the breeze outside was incredibly welcome, given the fact so many properties these days seal windows and depend on air-conditioning, which we have to say is a bit scary when you think about Covid. The inn's decor is a quiet taupe; its artwork largely big, beautiful photos of Idaho's natural world. All was calm, relaxing and reassuring. Our destination was the maze of hiking trails almost at our doorstep and a hoped-for fishing expedition, as well as a visit to the great man's grave. If you go, bring a Hemingway book or read a few of his Nick Adams stories, and explore the places Hemingway frequented (there's a map online). But if you don't have too much time, just stand by his grave and look up to the mountains and the sky.

We have enjoyed many lovely stays at the Knob Hill Inn. But we returned during the pandemic not knowing what to expect. Happily, the inn has managed to address safety concerns without compromising the elegant hospitality for which it is known. There are still cookies — but individually wrapped instead of in a cookie jar. Our room was spotlessly clean — but there were two personal protection packets discreetly placed on the bed. We had a delicious dinner — but the tables were widely spaced out in the divine garden. There was still breakfast — but ordered from a menu instead of self-served at a buffet. Kudos to this exemplary hostelry. We won’t get back to Switzerland any time soon. In the meantime, the Knob Hill Inn is a laudable substitute!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Knob Hill for two nights during a cross country road trip. The hotel is charming, well-appointed, and centrally located to the restaurants and shops of Ketchum (the business/food/nightlife heart of Sun Valley), as well as world class hiking trails (which Josie, at the concierge desk, helped us navigate). We thought the hotel balanced safety precautions surrounding Covid without being irrational in a very tasteful manner. The rooms are spacious and have balconies with great views of the surrounding mountains and rolling hills. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and the bartender (“O.C.”) felt like a friend by the time we left after two days. He was really knowledgeable about the area and we took him up on his recommendation for an epic hike to Pioneer Lodge. And about that hike: we did it (HIGHLY recommend it), but ended up taking a wrong turn on the return trip and ended up on the other side of the mountain, 15 miles from our car. We called the hotel, and they sent Katelyn to come pick us up and take us to our car (the whole journey was probably over an hour for her). Like OC, she was so friendly, knowledgeable of the area, and made us feel like VIP guests (which we are not). We loved our stay, and will absolutely be back when we come for ski season.
