Walk on the Wild Side Bed and Breakfast combines the atmosphere of staying in a 1930's Idaho ranch house with all of today's modern conveniences. "Wild Side" is located in picturesque Garden Valley, Idaho, just an hour and a half from downtown Boise. Originally known as the Beck Ranch House, "Wild Side" sits on five acres with frontage on the Middle Fork of the Payette River. Our unique location affords our guests the opportunity to observe many of Idaho's diverse wildlife from the comfort of their private bedrooms or while sitting in our living room. We also have a riverside meditation/yoga/wildlife viewing platform. Wild elk and deer wander our property to graze. Across the river you can watch herds of elk belonging to Elk Springs Ranch. Geese and ducks are abundant along the river in addition to bald eagles, hawks, quail and numerous other bird species. Throw in the occasional coyote, fox, porcupine or otter and you can truly "walk on the wild side." Our Guest rooms The Arabian Nights Suite: Our 900 sq. ft. second floor suite features a king-size tempurpedic bed, large Jacuzzi whirlpool spa and adjacent "His & Hers" walk-in shower with a view of the river, mountainside and wildlife. The next best thing to "skinny dipping" in the forest! Private balcony. Pricing:$190/night with a two night minimum or $215 for one night. The Shadow Room: First floor room featuring antique furniture from the French Quarter in New Orleans. Queen-size bed and Jacuzzi whirlpool spa for two with mountain view. Private bath. Pricing: $150/night. The Call of the Wild Room: First floor room that's handicap accessible with queen-size bed, antique furniture and adjacent full bathroom. Pricing: $130/night. We look forward to welcoming you. Martha

Martha and Bill made my daughter and I feel like royalty and long time friends all at the same time. Breakfast was a feast every morning and Jan the Chef was a extra special treat. It is worth sharing Bill is no slouch in the breakfast department. All the little touches and the properties history, beautiful art work and décor as well as Marth's stories added so much to our trip. We found this B&B while looking for hot springs to visit while there was still snow on the ground. I am so happy our searches brought us to Idaho and then to Garden Valley to Walk on the Wild Side. Room was spotless, grounds beautiful, wildlife a plenty...I just can not say enough wonderful things. Can't wait to go back and experience another breath taking season and amazing family like hospitality.

We had a great time staying at the Walk on the Wild Side B&B! Martha and Bill were the most welcoming and warm hosts. Their home sits on the Payette River about an hour and twenty minutes north of Boise, Idaho. When we visited, there were clear skies, 50 degrees during the day, and 28 degrees at night. Snow still on the ground, but the roads were clear. The first morning I walked out into the sunroom to get my cup of coffee and looked out to see about six elk walking along the river. What a start to the day!! We saw more elk and deer during our stay in the Garden Valley area than we had seen in our lives.
We felt more like guests in a friend's home than in a B&B. Their home is beautiful and the breakfasts prepared by their chef, Jan, were plentiful and delicious. It was a great way to start the day. If you want a peaceful and enjoyable B&B to visit this is it. Thank you, Martha and Bill!!!

Great location for wildlife, gorgeous views and wonderful walks. We had upstairs room with gorgeous private deck. Breakfast was delicious, special and served beautifully. Common rooms were cosy, comfortable with lovely local art displayed. Hosts are very knowledgeable about the area and steered us toward some great fun places to explore.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in August 2015. This B&B is impeccable, sits in a beautiful valley with lush gardens and surrounding natural beauty. The outdoors is lovely and peaceful, there is a nice deck and hot tub, a walking path to the Payette River, and we saw elk from the yard. Our room was amazing. The furnishings are of the highest quality and the room was very large with a comfortable mattress, nice linens, and a huge Jacuzzi tub. The owners were very hospitable and helpful. Our only mistake was to not book a longer visit. We were on a two week trip through western states and this was our favorite area and lodging. We both want to return for several days. We enjoyed a very nice meal at the Two Rivers Restaurant in town (about 6 miles from the B&B).

We had an amazing weekend! We made friends, relaxed, and were pampered in a most beautiful setting. The ability to unwind, reset, and adventure all in the same place was PERFECT! The place was gorgeous and the company was great. We loved that just out the door was a plethora of recreation options while in the doors was a retreat of serenity. We highly recommend this B&B!

We have stayed at many B and Bs in the US and many other countries, and Walk on the Wild Side is among the best of the best! We spent three fantastic nights (August 19 to the 21st) at this amazing place, highlighted by the total eclipse on August 21. Our hosts, Martha and Bill, made our stay exactly what we hoped for--their home is beautiful, in a tranquil setting, and their hospitality could not be surpassed. Each breakfast was incredible and made even better by the fact that Martha and Bill joined us each day. We stayed in the "Arabian Nights" suite--a huge room with a sleep number bed (incredible) and a large balcony on which we viewed the eclipse! If you want to get away from it all (but only a little over an hour from Boise) and enjoy a beautiful valley surrounded by a pine forest and enjoy wonderful hospitality, run, don't walk to Walk on the Wild Side--you will not regret it. Martha and Bill, thank you so much for making our eclipse weekend an unforgettable experience!!

We stayed twice in the space of about a week--on our trip out and back from Oregon to Montana. The home was home--incredibly comfortable, with great hosts. We spent a lot of time in the relatively new sunroom. Despite record breaking heat, the room, and our bedroom, were wonderfully cool and comfortable, and the sunroom afforded a great view of the neighboring elk farm, river, and nature. From it, we also saw a wild elk herd and quail, and a quick walk down to the river brought some beaver to our attention. Bill and Martha were personable and great hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our two stays with them. If you're in the area, this is a superb place to stay and enjoy a relaxed and comfortable respite. In fact, we had planned to stay somewhere else on our return trip, but we canceled that reservation and made a second one here.

Surprised my husband with a little get-away this past weekend. We chose A Walk on the Wild Side on the advice of our son and we were not disappointed. The room was beautifully furnished and the hospitality was outstanding. Martha and Bill did all they could to make us feel welcome. Jan fixed us a gourmet breakfast which we enjoyed in the sun room overlooking the elk farm and the mountain side. We are already planning our next visit.

We made a decision to stay at this B&B after a week of camping out. What a relief to be at such an amazing place! Martha and Bill were so wonderful and helpful. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had at a B&B! From the backyard, you have a beautiful view of elk grazing across the river. The gardens are awesome. We stayed in the Arabian room, and it was well worth the money. We will be back!!

I think it’s 4 pm check in and 11 am check out but in all honesty just communicate with the owners, I called and they literally said they wouldn’t be there at Check in and would just leave a side door unlocked for us and to make ourselves at home. They also said since there wasn’t a guest in the room before us that we could come as early as we wanted, we got there at 11 A.M. the first day of our stay and didn’t see the owners until that evening.
