Advertised as a one bedroom queen. Bed was a double. Wind whistles through door at the slightest breeze. Comfortable room but charging $46.50 cleaning fee for a 2 night stay? They don't provide fresh towels on a daily basis and no information where to get them. Check in process was terrible. Location is great but there should be some services when you charge the higher than average fee.

We stayed here last Labor Day weekend. For the most part we had a good time, but there are many rules and other things we didn't like so much. The bungalow's were cute and we had a good view (other than the power lines). The place was clean, but both my husband and I noticed the smell of either dog or dog urine, underneath the cleaner smell of rug freshener or something. When we booked this place, it seemed most of them only have queen beds. The bed was comfortable, but my husband and I are spoiled with a king bed, so while the queen bed was comfortable, it was too small for us. I don't think any of the bungalows had king beds, just maybe some of the bigger cabins/houses. They had a restaurant, but it was only open for lunch and dinner, so we had to go out for breakfast or cook our own in the kitchenette. They had a $65 cleaning fee and still expected you to take out all the trash! And to top the whole thing off, they charged our other half of the room before we even got there. It said right on my original receipt that we could pay the other half when we got there with another credit card or cash, which we had planned on doing, but before we even left the house that morning they sent an email that they charged the other half of the room on the same card. I think that isn't right, and they could get in legal trouble for that! Also, check in is at 4:00, on the spot. If you can't check in at 4 then you must call them to make arrangements for another time. Check out is at 10:00, not 11:00 like most hotels would be. We paid a lot of money for all of these rules! You would think they would treat you a little better than that.

We (2 adults and 2 dogs) stayed for a Friday through Monday in studio cabin 19. The cabin was well appointed and clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. This was one of the few pet friendly options we found, and there was great terrain around the resort for the dogs to run.
We cooked all of our own food in the rooms; the kitchenette was well stocked.
Disappointments were minor for this trip but could be frustrating.
Being the offseason, the pool and the market were not open. Neither was the restaurant (despite being advertised as open for dinner) so lucky we didn't depend on that for a meal, but we were given no notice.
The WiFi was spotty at best, even after we requested that reset the router. There is a huge power line structure that runs right through the middle of this property, and cabins #16 and #17 have nothing but a "power line"
view. We could find no policy/place for recycling, and there are no laundry facilites, which would be a very nice feature. There is no daily linen service, and the cleaning fee ($85!) is steep.
The one other potentially irksome thing is the attitude the management might have, based On the tone of their literature. The cancellation policy is harsh (100% forfeiture of
the reservation possible), eXtra charges for any late stay over checkout, extra $20 (plus shipping) for items left behind.
All in all,not a bad location...just be informed.

We had a great stay in Dover Bay. We rented a bungalow for four days. Lots to do. Walking trails, tennis, kayaking, pool, hot tub, fitness center. We did a lot.

A few tips though.

DISH is a great restaurant and you can walk to it, but its pricey. You have to eat there at least once during your stay. Amazing food. But drive a little bit and you can have a wider selection at smaller price.

If you have four or more in your party, get a bungalow that has at least two bedrooms or two levels. We got a tiny one bedroom with a pull out couch. We were stepping all over each other and had no place for our luggage, etc.

Go to the swimming pool/hot tub area early. Not a lot of chairs.

Safeway is about 3 minutes away. Get your groceries there. Triple price at the resort.

There is a swimming area, just past the Dover City Council building, right behind the bungalows that we didn't know about until the last day. Very private and beautiful.

We will be back, but next time in a bigger unit. Thanks for a great stay.

Large group met for drinks and finger foods outdoors beside the river. The servers were attentive and the hors d'oeuvres exquisite. We will definitely return for a meal. The plates of diners we passed looked appetizing and their menu was seasonal and extensive.

We just finished a weeklong stay in the bungalows at Dover Bay.

As a resort - it works ok. Decent location to Sandpoint, decent marina, etc. And the restaurant is awesome.

But it is absolutely not worth the price. A few issues include: One dresser for a unit marketed for four people, tacks in the carpet resulting in bloody toes, no access to trash or laundry, no service or cleaning support, no room for furniture when pullout was used, loud and disruptive neighbors, TV smaller than the mount, a beach littered with goose poop, horrific internet, dirty towels, paper thin toilet paper (of which they give you one roll for 9 days), and constant construction.

One last thing: The resort had a confirmed case of COVID-19 while we were there. One of the servers who worked for the resort. Our server for two meals. No notifications or updates. Only happened to find out by word of mouth (later confirmed by manager). No update. No acknowledgement. They hid it. Not surprising as no one wore a mask on the whole premise.

Truly disappointing. Save 50% and stay in a hotel - it will be far better.

We wanted to stay in Sandpoint for our anniversary. While we were researching places to stay a well known website lured us into a low rate without disclosing the hotel. I have always been pleased with using sites like this in the past. It was rated as 3 stars with restaurant on premises. We took the bait. We were pleasantly surprised to find it was Dover Bay. I had read about the hotel on the internet website.
We found the marina after driving around a bit. Both the store and the restaurant were closed. (Sat 1pm)
We called the number on the reservation and they told us the number of the bungalow and said the keys were left in an envelope inside the screen door. I also had to give a credit card for a $50 cleaning fee. Not
mentioned anywhere on their website. The cabin was cute and very clean but not on the water. We also
were surprised by the size of the queen size bed. Closer to a full size. They did move us to a water front cabin. But would not remove the cleaning fee.
When we read the hotels information book in the room it stated there was only a cleaning fee for excessively dirty rooms. So I am still not sure why they charged a fee. Left a bad taste in our mouths and probably wouldn't recommend it because of the questionable business practices.

While we had a positive experience last year staying in a condo unit at Dover Bay, our last stay in bungalow 620 was horrible due to a sewer issue that should have been discovered and fixed prior to our stay if proper cleaning and maintenance was the standard service level at the resort. Long story short - a nasty but undetermined smell was discovered to be seeping sewage in the crawl space under the unit. For $250 a night, there is no excuse for this lack of proper maintenance. No refund or resort credit was offered. Only a reluctant night manager who finally agreed to let us move to another unit when the sewer alarm would not go off and she could not possibly force us to sleep with the noxious smell. Follow up with the resort manager was equally disappointing. At this price point, some concession should have been offered for the clearly negligent maintenance of this unit. Look elsewhere in the area as there are many other wonderful places to stay in Sandpoint with higher quality units, better location, amenities and customer service - at similar or lower pricing as well.

Getting a cabin with a mountain view? There are NO mountains to be viewed from here. None. Wanting linens? Forget it. Hidden fees for everything. Going on a Reed Walk? Nope...it is a weed walk. Noxious tansy growing every place there is to walk. Expensive? Ridiculous.

"Units vary significantly, ask for photos of interior and exterior, view etc. Unit 620 is clearly a high traffic unit with carpet that needs cleaning downstairs and very basic furnishings vs. unit 624 which has a much nicer quality of furnishings and aesthetic. Do not expect cabin feel, resort feel - more like a neighborhood."
