I spilled some non-smelling laundry detergent on the bed and was charged for an entire new mattress without anyone even talking to me. I felt like it could have been handled in a more professional and fair way.
This is my second time staying at Dover Bay. My first experience was during summer of 2020 when my family and I had to get away and try to have some fun during the height of the pandemic. My first stay was in cabin 168. It’s right on the water with a great view and sleeps about 10 people. You do not have access to the inlet but you can fish from the bank and the view is incredible. My most recent stay was in cabin 206 “the 3 bears”. This will be my preferred cabin. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths on the first floor. The master has an on suite bath. It has a nice, full kitchen with a living room and television. Head upstairs and you will find a loft that has a queen bed and a set of bunk beds with a very nice full bath. The loft also has a sitting area and TV. It was the perfect spot for my 10 and 6 yr old as well as my 16 yr old niece. Cabin has fast Internet, great front porch with a gas grill and eating area. It also has a washer/dryer combo which is so helpful with kids. It does not have a view of the water but that doesn’t really matter that much. The property is incredible. There are expansive walking trails for exploration. They have a full service marina where ski boats and pontoon boats (at a very reasonable price) can be rented. There is a heated pool, jacuzzi and awesome fitness center. A few hundred feet from the marina, is a private beach and park with play equipment. They have a great restaurant that serves lunch/dinner with a full bar. They also have a great little store that sells everything from beer to clothing and worms for fishing. I like coming out here because I can bring all the food I need and cook it in the cabin. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is very easy to do in the cabin. The restaurant on site is delicious but I’m not spending to feed 5 people daily. I see no reason to leave the resort but if you do, downtown Sandpoint is only about 10 mins away. There you will find a massive city beach, tons of restaurants and great shopping. My only complaint is this place’s availability which speaks to how great it is. Don’t have the expectation of calling them on a Wednesday and then staying that upcoming weekend. I book my summer trips there about 6 months out. You also get to speak with a real on site person when you call. They are managed on site and not by a 3rd party booking agency. Booking online is also very easy. Sometimes you can get lucky (I happened to luck out for Father’s Day with a cancelation) but don’t bank on it. This place also has a 3 night minimum. That has never bothered me because it forces me to take that time off to relax. I live about 2hrs away from the resort so I don’t want to get there just to turn around and come back home. 3 nights is perfect. Also, all the 1 and 2 star reviews are from 5 years ago. This place has had some kinks and they have all been worked out. I have recommended Dover Bay to about 8 other families who have stayed here and I’ve never heard a complaint. It’s great for a couples get away or a family vacation. Special thanks to Patti who pretty much runs this whole place! She is amazing! Thanks for a great and relaxing Father’s Day retreat and I will see you again in August!!…
We had a great stay in Dover Bay. We rented a bungalow for four days. Lots to do. Walking trails, tennis, kayaking, pool, hot tub, fitness center. We did a lot. A few tips though. DISH is a great restaurant and you can walk to it, but its pricey. You have to eat there at least once during your stay. Amazing food. But drive a little bit and you can have a wider selection at smaller price. If you have four or more in your party, get a bungalow that has at least two bedrooms or two levels. We got a tiny one bedroom with a pull out couch. We were stepping all over each other and had no place for our luggage, etc. Go to the swimming pool/hot tub area early. Not a lot of chairs. Safeway is about 3 minutes away. Get your groceries there. Triple price at the resort. There is a swimming area, just past the Dover City Council building, right behind the bungalows that we didn't know about until the last day. Very private and beautiful. We will be back, but next time in a bigger unit. Thanks for a great stay.…
We just finished a weeklong stay in the bungalows at Dover Bay. As a resort - it works ok. Decent location to Sandpoint, decent marina, etc. And the restaurant is awesome. But it is absolutely not worth the price. A few issues include: One dresser for a unit marketed for four people, tacks in the carpet resulting in bloody toes, no access to trash or laundry, no service or cleaning support, no room for furniture when pullout was used, loud and disruptive neighbors, TV smaller than the mount, a beach littered with goose poop, horrific internet, dirty towels, paper thin toilet paper (of which they give you one roll for 9 days), and constant construction. One last thing: The resort had a confirmed case of COVID-19 while we were there. One of the servers who worked for the resort. Our server for two meals. No notifications or updates. Only happened to find out by word of mouth (later confirmed by manager). No update. No acknowledgement. They hid it. Not surprising as no one wore a mask on the whole premise. Truly disappointing. Save 50% and stay in a hotel - it will be far better.…
Large group met for drinks and finger foods outdoors beside the river. The servers were attentive and the hors d'oeuvres exquisite. We will definitely return for a meal. The plates of diners we passed looked appetizing and their menu was seasonal and extensive.
I just spent a weekend at Dover Bay outside of Sandpoint Idaho with some family members. It is a beautiful community on the water with wildlife, boat marina, great walking areas and beautiful homes to look at. There is a wonderful coffee shop right before you go into Dover Bay, the owners couldn’t have been nicer. Sandpoint is just minutes down the road for groceries, restaurants, parks and the drive to Schweitzer mountain is really worth it - what a view! Would love to go back for a longer stay. I’m sure any season there would be gorgeous.
Came here in July ‘19 with my family and another couple- stayed in the cabins (which were beautifully finished) however it was one thing after another that all started with a blatant lie. Construction was going entire time, dust flying everywhere, construction workers in a circle outside our home ‘chugging beers’ after work, a concrete pour for 4 foundations starting at 5pm, not to mention all of them driving far too fast where young families are ‘vacationing’. Pool was shut down for thunder/lightening when there was beautiful skies for hours, lights flickering on and off, no internet or WiFi, place was a complete joke. Close to $500 per night for this??!! Thanks for the note and the 200 pack of earplugs- where is the refund/credit??!!
Omg so happy I was searching for a new place to stay and Dover bay came up on my Google search the view was incredible, the cabin we rented was just the right size, it was so quiet. Close to sandpoint which was a definite perk. Hope to stay here again
Even with the heavy smoke from fires this is a lovely setting. Food very good , service good, but who cares with the river and boaters to watch. Prices are good, outdoor seating as well as indoor. Great place for boaters to stop for dinner, with docks near by.
We booked a cabin right on the lake with a beautiful view. While the cabins are a bit small, they are modern and well appointed with a kitchen, fireplace and barbecue. The decor and furnishings were nice, and the beds comfortable. While our cabin technically sleeps 7, I wouldn’t recommend more than 5 if you want to be comfortable. The facilities include a pool, hot tub and tennis courts, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
