A Trip Advisor Best Quirky Hotel, Idaho's beagle-shaped guest house is as comfortable as it is unique. Being in this dog-house is certainly a good thing! Sleeps 4; queen bed in main quarters and two twin futon mats in cozy loft area. One hour drive from the airport (LWS) in Lewiston, Idaho. Other airports at about four hours drive are Boise Idaho, Missoula Montana & Spokane Washington. Near the famed Hells Canyon of the Snake River National Recreation Area for jet boat tours, hiking, fishing & more. Mid-way between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Dog Bark Park is at the edge of the small town of Cottonwood, Idaho with agricultural prairie views rimmed by rolling hills and mountains. Allow time to unwind here were life feels a bit like yesteryears with welcoming neighbors, uncrowded streets, bird songs, abundant wide skies with starry nights.

I have wanted to come here for sooo many years. They are only open 3-4 months out of the year so u have to book the exact day they open reservations. We flew from Atlanta to Boise to make the 4 hours drive to Dog Bark Park Inn. The drive through the mountains was soo worth it. Although I wouldn't want to do the drive at night or bad weather. The owners, Frances & Dennis are wonderful. This was their labor of love and you can fill it when talking to them. We're just so blessed we were able to meet them and stay in Sweet Willy. The couple built the "dog hotel" by themselves and its so special. This was a bucket list item and it really made me smile to be there

I saw this cool BNB a couple of years ago and decided it would be a great place for a long weekend to celebrate my dog's birthday. Just me and him. I found they were sold out the first time I tried to book in 2019. Well, 2020 and we know what happened. I reached out to the BNB directly more than 8 months ago and was told reservations open for booking on January 10, 2022. I went to the web site this afternoon to book the BNB for the end of June 2022 only to find out the ENTIRE BNB is booked through the season!!!! While I am happy a small business is doing well, I am extremely pissed off that the establishment LIED to me to wait until January 2022!! I would say to stay away from this establishment because they are frauds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER stay here, and I have deleted them from my contacts!

We are so very sorry dates were not available by the time you contacted us in the afternoon of 8 am opening day for reservations. We did not pre-book any dates; we simply sold out in a very short time that morning. Other people like Mr. Walsh have been eager to make reservations and, unlike Mr. Walsh, made sure to be in touch right away that morning. A short season of operation coupled with only one rentable unit does not allow accommodation of many guest bookings per year. I'm sorry Mr. Walsh wasn't able to receive my email assuring him we have never conducted ourselves and our business in any manner other than with genuine honesty and transparency. It is his disappointment and lack of imagination that our property could indeed be as popular as it has been for 20 years.

It was a dream come true for our kids to sleep inside a dog!! We drove quite a ways off from where we were headed to come here, and let me tell you, it was worth it. Frances and Dennis are wonderful hosts, and we spent much of our time getting to know their story and how this place came into being. We almost canceled our trip last minute, because we were worried about the fires in eastern Idaho. I called Frances and she made some calls to make sure we were safe to keep driving west towards Cottonwood. So glad she convinced us to persevere, as I’m not sure we’ll ever experience anything quite like Dog Bark Park again! The room itself is simple, comfortably furnished and full of dog paraphernalia. We spent a good amount of time playing “Beagle-opoly”, and our kids were thrilled to be able to sleep in the “snoot” of the dog. Delicious homemade muffins and granola, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, milk, juice and yogurt, awaited us for breakfast (there is a small kitchen space with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker), as well as afternoon snacks of fruit and chips. Frances and Dennis suggested a few drives and hikes in the area, as well as a few restaurants nearby, We purchased a couple of dogs to take home and will treasure the memory of Dog Bark Park Inn for years to come.

Thank you so much for dropping your kind note here. Having lived in this part of Idaho for a long time we do have familiarity with places and situations, in this case to help interpret all the forest fire information that is scary and often not particular to any one locale. Admittedly Dog Bark Park is generally a long way out of the way for most travelers as we are situated in a rural less-traveled part of the state & that is suitable to us as creators of the Dog Bark Park. We so appreciate every guest who invests the time to head in our direction hoping along the way they will experience some lovely unexpected delights in our rivers, small towns, amazing valleys beneath towering forests of green & vast agricultural prairies. We will hold memories of your visit the rest of our days.

We first stumbled upon Sweet Willy in July of 2009, but it took us a looong time to get a trip booked, and I am so glad we finally did! Loved every minute of this unique experience; the art, the delicious breakfasts, the sunsets and the interesting conversations with the artists: Frances and Dennis. Thank you for sharing this experience with us, and we hope to return soon!

We were unable to stay because of Covid but we had this on our list of places to visit just cause we have a beagle and it seemed like a good a reason as any. We had a blast talking to Dennis and Frances are super intelligent and fun folks to talk to. Not sure if everyone clicks with them like we did but we thought we were just stopping in. But we ended up have a great conversation with them for a good hour and half about all kinds of things! We plan to come back when we can and actually stay there if they are still doing their thing. It feels good to support good people.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. We do enjoy conversing with all our visitors whether they stay overnight in the giant beagle or stop by to see all we do at Dog Bark Park. Always a special pleasure to visit with beagle-folks! As you learned we create dog carvings of many breeds and our furry ambassador is not a beagle, rather a golden retriever. It is truly however that giant beagle that towers over all our other dogs! Thanks for the visit and taking the time to jot a note here.

We had been waiting 10 years to stay here, having seen it on Dave hitman's 'Unchained', and we finally had a suitable route that meant we could pick it up. Well, it was wonderful. From the moment we turned the corner and saw Sweet Willy (the big dog), I don't think we stopped smiling. Dennis and Frances, our hosts, are just about the nicest people we have ever met, and instantly made us feel welcome. The beagle is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a lovely, peaceful, relaxing stay. WiFi is a little patchy, and you have to go and sit in his nose to get the best reception, and there is no TV, but we didn't feel that either of those things was a problem. We had a lovely evening sitting on the porch looking at the stars and the milky way, an exemplary night's sleep in the incredibly comfortable bed, and a lovely breakfast overlooking the prairie. We visited with Dennis in the morning, and talked with him for a couple of hours. We cannot recommend the dog bark park highly enough, we had the most lovely stay.

We greatly enjoyed your visit & appreciate the conversation time you gave to us. Indeed WiFi is sometimes problematic but perhaps appropriate that the brains of the beagle is the communication center within his body! Besides seeing the wonders of a dark night sky on clear nights sometimes visitors can also hear the calls of coyotes coming from the distant ridge or nearby field. At certain times of the year entertaining California quail families can be spotted feeding around the edges of the lawn which is an added treat to the usual birds that inhabit the area surrounding the big beagle. We wish you pleasant adventures as you explore more of America.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Grangeville's outdoor movie theater is certainly a throw back to day's gone by which is also how people often describe this part of Idaho where the roads, stores & parks aren't overly busy allowing one to unwind & breathe deeply. Come visit again!

This place is what happens when two intelligent and creative people pour their energy into a "noble and absurd undertaking". There is such an attention to detail: in the inn's interior and the surrounding park (we kept discovering new brilliant features, such as the fire hydrant restroom, which is pure genious), the books and board games provided (Beagleopoly, anyone?), the dogshaped cookies... We loved the freshly baked muffins and the family-recipe granola for breakfast. Frances and Dennis made us feel like long-awaited guests, and generously shared their knowledge of the area. Needless to say, the place is a B&B and not a luxury hotel - but it is spotlessly clean and provides everything you need. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a bottle of wine on the terrace, so now our marriage is beagle-blessed!

Dennis and Frances are excellent and hospitable hosts! We loved our stay! There are so many special little things they do....for example, homemade breads, granola, cookies and much more made with local ingredients! We can't wait to go back! If you want a unique, beautiful, country experience....this is where you need to be!

We're so glad you enjoyed a relaxing getaway here at Idaho's big dog inn. Offering healthful tasty foods using family recipes and, local & quality ingredients, is important to us as hosts. Our location at the edge of town allows easy access to the amenities of a small town without compromising wide views of the surrounding agricultural countryside with starry nights to be enjoyed on a warm evening from the balcony deck. Thank you for your review. We'll hope to welcome you back another time.
