I have wanted to come here for sooo many years. They are only open 3-4 months out of the year so u have to book the exact day they open reservations. We flew from Atlanta to Boise to make the 4 hours drive to Dog Bark Park Inn. The drive through the mountains was soo worth it. Although I wouldn't want to do the drive at night or bad weather. The owners, Frances & Dennis are wonderful. This was their labor of love and you can fill it when talking to them. We're just so blessed we were able to meet them and stay in Sweet Willy. The couple built the "dog hotel" by themselves and its so special. This was a bucket list item and it really made me smile to be there
I saw this cool BNB a couple of years ago and decided it would be a great place for a long weekend to celebrate my dog's birthday. Just me and him. I found they were sold out the first time I tried to book in 2019. Well, 2020 and we know what happened. I reached out to the BNB directly more than 8 months ago and was told reservations open for booking on January 10, 2022. I went to the web site this afternoon to book the BNB for the end of June 2022 only to find out the ENTIRE BNB is booked through the season!!!! While I am happy a small business is doing well, I am extremely pissed off that the establishment LIED to me to wait until January 2022!! I would say to stay away from this establishment because they are frauds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER stay here, and I have deleted them from my contacts!…
It was a dream come true for our kids to sleep inside a dog!! We drove quite a ways off from where we were headed to come here, and let me tell you, it was worth it. Frances and Dennis are wonderful hosts, and we spent much of our time getting to know their story and how this place came into being. We almost canceled our trip last minute, because we were worried about the fires in eastern Idaho. I called Frances and she made some calls to make sure we were safe to keep driving west towards Cottonwood. So glad she convinced us to persevere, as I’m not sure we’ll ever experience anything quite like Dog Bark Park again! The room itself is simple, comfortably furnished and full of dog paraphernalia. We spent a good amount of time playing “Beagle-opoly”, and our kids were thrilled to be able to sleep in the “snoot” of the dog. Delicious homemade muffins and granola, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, milk, juice and yogurt, awaited us for breakfast (there is a small kitchen space with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker), as well as afternoon snacks of fruit and chips. Frances and Dennis suggested a few drives and hikes in the area, as well as a few restaurants nearby, We purchased a couple of dogs to take home and will treasure the memory of Dog Bark Park Inn for years to come.…
We first stumbled upon Sweet Willy in July of 2009, but it took us a looong time to get a trip booked, and I am so glad we finally did! Loved every minute of this unique experience; the art, the delicious breakfasts, the sunsets and the interesting conversations with the artists: Frances and Dennis. Thank you for sharing this experience with us, and we hope to return soon!
If you have never seen this sight your mission will be to sniff it out and seek the super one of a kind stops. This is a fun place and a must see with your own eyes because seeing is believing. Lol Enjoy.
We were unable to stay because of Covid but we had this on our list of places to visit just cause we have a beagle and it seemed like a good a reason as any. We had a blast talking to Dennis and Frances are super intelligent and fun folks to talk to. Not sure if everyone clicks with them like we did but we thought we were just stopping in. But we ended up have a great conversation with them for a good hour and half about all kinds of things! We plan to come back when we can and actually stay there if they are still doing their thing. It feels good to support good people.
We had been waiting 10 years to stay here, having seen it on Dave hitman's 'Unchained', and we finally had a suitable route that meant we could pick it up. Well, it was wonderful. From the moment we turned the corner and saw Sweet Willy (the big dog), I don't think we stopped smiling. Dennis and Frances, our hosts, are just about the nicest people we have ever met, and instantly made us feel welcome. The beagle is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a lovely, peaceful, relaxing stay. WiFi is a little patchy, and you have to go and sit in his nose to get the best reception, and there is no TV, but we didn't feel that either of those things was a problem. We had a lovely evening sitting on the porch looking at the stars and the milky way, an exemplary night's sleep in the incredibly comfortable bed, and a lovely breakfast overlooking the prairie. We visited with Dennis in the morning, and talked with him for a couple of hours. We cannot recommend the dog bark park highly enough, we had the most lovely stay.…
Very cozy. Dennis was a wonderful host. We only spent one night but enjoyed every aspect of this quite and very restful Bed and Breakfast. Great small town and a drive in theater near by in Grangeville. Perfect stop on our family road trip.
This place is what happens when two intelligent and creative people pour their energy into a "noble and absurd undertaking". There is such an attention to detail: in the inn's interior and the surrounding park (we kept discovering new brilliant features, such as the fire hydrant restroom, which is pure genious), the books and board games provided (Beagleopoly, anyone?), the dogshaped cookies... We loved the freshly baked muffins and the family-recipe granola for breakfast. Frances and Dennis made us feel like long-awaited guests, and generously shared their knowledge of the area. Needless to say, the place is a B&B and not a luxury hotel - but it is spotlessly clean and provides everything you need. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a bottle of wine on the terrace, so now our marriage is beagle-blessed!…
Dennis and Frances are excellent and hospitable hosts! We loved our stay! There are so many special little things they do....for example, homemade breads, granola, cookies and much more made with local ingredients! We can't wait to go back! If you want a unique, beautiful, country experience....this is where you need to be!
