Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa boasts an array of facilities and activities that guests have appreciated, set in an environment with inviting common areas complete with cozy fireplaces. However, the charm is somewhat diminished by dated rooms and amenities that have led some visitors to question the value for money.
The cleanliness of the resort generally earns praise, but there are calls for more efficient housekeeping. While the staff's friendliness is often acknowledged, service inconsistencies, including delayed check-ins, have been a concern for several travelers.

Detailed Reviews
This is a beautiful resort. It is on over 500 acres offering rooms with fireplaces, balconies, and views. We stayed in a cottage away from the main lodge. We had a nice view, fireplace with lots of wood and fire starter, and rocking chairs to enjoy the wooded view. The cottage rooms are spacious and were very clean. The ice machine is turned off during the winter but you can have some delivered to your room. One morning our coffee was replenished and it was quickly delivered to our room. Overall, a very nice room. Our only concerns were the lack of hot water for the second shower and the door was hard to open. The lobby offers panoramic views with seating both indoors and outdoors. There is a huge lobby fireplace with a lobby bar with lots of seating and games. The dining room is also on this floor offering a good variety of foods. We did not get a chance to eat in the dining room but did visit the downstairs bar for lunch twice. There is another large fireplace and a fire-pit outside. The food was very good and they make great cocktails. The service all around was excellent! They do offer a shuttle to pick you up from the cottage although it is a short walk. There is also 9 miles of hiking trails on the property, horseback riding, and golf. There is a spa nearby but you have to make reservations far in advance to utilize so we did not get to visit. We also did not visit the indoor/outdoor pool. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have attended NYE celebrations at Brasstown Valley three times in the past five years. It never disappoints. The food, bar, entertainment and venue are all excellent. While the seafood (shrimp, oysters on half shell, mussels, and button clams) was all excellent, it was the lamb chops that were truly the best I've ever had. The desserts were all good, but I haven't had bread pudding this good in quite a while. The bartender was able to offer a decent array of premium alcohols and there was never a wait to get served. The band kept the dance floor plenty busy from 9 PM until well past 1 AM. Additional touches like champagne and chocolates in our room were unexpected and greatly appreciated If anything, my only disappointment was that there weren't more people there to enjoy it (the venue was "right-sized", but it seems to me that they could have expanded it to accomodate more guests). My wife and I have been to other NYE celebrations in Georgia as well as in Washington DC and Brasstown Valley definitely does it the best.

The resort and surroundings were absolutely beautiful. In the lodge is a formal dining restaurant on the upper level and then Brassies pub & grill on the lower level. The pool is indoor/outdoor. During our stay, we were one of only a few families staying on the property, due to the covid-19 situation. Staff at the resort were very polite and friendly, and worked extra hard to keep all areas clean and sanitized. There is a golf course in the property which we didn’t use, but it looks very nice; as well as hiking trails you can go on. There is also a stable with horses. My son and I went on a 1 hour trail ride and my daughter and great nephew went on pony rides. There’s so much to do at the resort and you are only a few minutes away from other great food locations and nature/outdoor activities in the nearby towns and surrounding mountains. As part of our trip we went about 10 mins up the road to Bell Mountain. We stayed in the Mountain Laurel cottage, instead of the main lodge and loved it. Had our own, in room, fireplace that we lit a couple times and thoroughly enjoyed. Spent mornings in the patio having our coffee. Only thing that could maybe be improved is the decor in the cottages, so it feels a bit more rustic and outdoorsy like the cottage itself. Otherwise, it was fantastic and we are very much looking forward to going back in the future.

We booked Brasstown on a friend's recommendation, but just had to leave early due to the rooms being filthy and loud guests above us for which hotel management just shrugged off.
The problems actually started during booking. We had to call 3 or 4 times to actually get a reservation with the First Responders rate, because front desk staff kept saying so-and-so wasn't there so they would have to call us back. They would never call back, so we had to call again. This repeated at least two times.
When we finally got the rate, we arrived to a dank, filthy room in the Cottages. The shower curtain was covered in black mold, the microwave had caked-on food on the rotating plate, there was hair in the shower, the coffee maker was covered in old coffee residue. The air condition unit was so loud that it woke us up every time it went off at night.
We called that night to say our room is filthy, and the front desk's response was just "you need to call housekeeping tomorrow." Not, so sorry, we'll fix this right away. Not, we'll make sure housekeeping comes first thing tomorrow. It was just "you deal with it."
Needless to say, we didn't sleep much that night.
We were willing to overlook all the nasty details of our room and slog it out. However, the next evening we came back to what appeared to be some family reunion or something happening all the surrounding units. People were yelling between balconies to each other, and the room above us was blasting music that reverberated in our room.
We called the front desk about the noise, and their response was just "quiet hours are at 10, we'll call them but there's nothing we can do." Not sure if they did actually call, but the music level never lowered. We just had enough of this point and told them we were leaving.
We still got charged for our disgusting room for the first night including resort fee, but at least they took off the pet fee.
I've heard the lodge is nice(r), but the Cottages should be avoided in our experience.
There are plenty of places to stay around this area, so consider looking around elsewhere, especially if you're bringing pets.

First time visiting and expected it to be nicer. We stayed in a cottage room and it was very dark, damp and outdated. I was confused why there calling this place a resort. There was a layer of dust on everything. Patched wall, paint on door handles and the sink leaked a puddle on the floor when it was turned on. Ate at the grill bc we didn’t have reservations for upstairs. It would have been nice if they would have mentioned we needed dinner reservations when we made our hotel reservation and asked about onsite dining. I had an entree salad that tasted like a bagged salad-couldn’t even eat it. After we ate we tried to have cocktails inside but they had the air set to 63 AND the ceiling fans on- seemed like they were intentionally trying to drive customers away because everyone was complaining and leaving as quickly as possible. Breakfast in the dining room was the highlight and very delicious. The Lobby area is also very cute. Maybe it’s better if you arrive early in the day and utilize the horse riding and trail activities? Maybe if you liked that it wouldn’t bother you what a dump the room was it how bad the dinner at the grill was. Would not recommend for a romantic weekend away.

I apologize that we failed to provide a positive overall experience. There is not excuse for the condition of your cottage room. I will ensure that we address the issues right away. I will retrain my staff regarding the importance of communicating the need to make dining reservations prior to arrival with our guests, particularly on weekends. I will also share your feedback regarding Brassies with my team with a focus on improving the consistency of our food (given we typically receive positive feedback) and the room temperature to ensure all guests are comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the main lobby has the feel of a cozy mountain lodge with high ceilings, rustic decor, and open vistas to the valley and grounds. There is also a heated pool with 2 jacuzzis, spacious common porch area, and several private hiking trails to enjoy.
The problems start and end with the rooms. We booked a King room with a mountain view, but they assigned us a double Queen room with a view. The room was clean and had a nice view, but we like to be close and do not need an extra bed. We notified the hotel that the room assignment was incorrect, and they "upgraded" us to a suite and allowed us to stay in the first room while we waited for them to clean the new room. I did notice rotten trim and wood at the bottom of the balcony door that had been painted over with no attempt to properly repair. I also noticed some rotten metal gutters on the pool building, which was a bit alarming.
We then moved to the suite. However, the suite did not have a view, but it did smell like oranges when we first entered the room. We decide to accept the room even though it had no mountain view, since moving around to different rooms was not what we wanted to do for our visit.
Later that day, we went out on the large balcony which had some nice rocking chairs, but it was absolutely filthy with an ash tray on the floor and many stains and dirt all over the balcony floor. I guess the staff only clean the rooms and leave the balconies alone? Are the guests supposed to clean the balconies? This was the first sign of trouble.
Later that evening, the orange smell dissipated and was replace by the nasty, moldy smell emanating from the air conditioners. This is the type of thing that you might expect from a Super 8 not a resort hotel that charges over $200 a night. Very disappointing.
Another important thing to note is that the main restaurant only has a buffet and it is expensive. Buffet during Covid? We ended up eating at some local establishments, which was another adventure (mainly due to short-staffing).

I apologize that we failed to deliver a positive experience during your visit. I was disappointed to read that we were unable to provide a king bedded room upon arrival (we do try to honor all requests), that the suite's balcony we provided wasn't properly cleaned and that the room smelled poorly during your visit. I will address each of these issues with my staff with a focus on preventing future occurrences. We are currently replacing rotten wood and painting the Mountain View side of our guest room lodge building. We offer both menu and buffet service in our Dining Room which alters based on business levels. Thank you and again I apologize for the inconveniences you experienced as our guest. Rugged . Rustic but dirty our room had no amenities no wine opener ,the lady sold it as what they use for couples ? Not sure why the walls are paper thin you can clearly follow a full conversation and hear anything next to or above you it's basically a hotel room that's full of spiders . And very old, the tub had broken shelving, the room slopped down ,the toilet was loud but didn't actually flush you had to press it like 4 times . I don't think they should even sell the cottages ,the lodge is beautiful and I wish we had thought to stay there . Our room keys didn't work t all we had to call out maintenance two and three times to pay 700$ for two nights I'm so disappointed it's amazing we didn't even have coffee or sugar in our rooms and when we went in search they forced us to get a full breakfast buffet just to get coffee . And no milk alternatives available-she said they were out . No vegetarian or vegan options ( only at brassiere grilling I ordered my little one a beyond burger they brought meat ) . Twice we paid for their $17 dollar buffet because there are no options at the main dinning room, and nowhere else to go . Obviously no room service so you have to hike down to the lodge anytime you need anything . I told the lady all the issues at checkout and she said" awe that's too bad ".the only star they get is the spa was amazing but not even on the property so I don't really count it as their review . So so disappointed will never stay on the property again . What a waste of money .

Thank you for being our guest and for taking time to provide feedback regarding your visit. I was disappointed to read the numerous concerns you experienced as our guest. I have already began the process of retraining our staff, addressing the maintenance concerns and ensuring that we maintain proper inventories. I apologize that you had such a negative experience. Regarding the concern with being able to hear the guests next to you, we completed a process that drastically reduced the noise heard between rooms. I will ensure that all of our cottage rooms have this sound proofing step installed. I appreciate that you took to time to accept a personal apology for the inconveniences you experienced during your visit. It is my hope you will reconsider not returning in the future and allow us to regain your confidence. We spent the weekend. Great location as a base to visit the many sites in the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views of the mountains from our porch.
Starting to look tired. The shower curtain liner and the drapes in our room were torn and hanging, coffee left in coffee maker, rotting wood on porch column. Even the landscaping looks unkept in areas and broken boards on a bridge along the trail. The food at Brassies was not very good and the service was slow on the night we ate. Food was also over priced. On the plus side, the beer was nice and cold.
Not the hotels fault, but kids running up and down the hall and making a racket next door.

What a gorgeous place! We were grateful recipients of a wonderful "family reunion" at a truly idyllic location. Brasstown Valley Resort was the perfect place at the perfect time, with plenty of activities for our kids, including a beautifully placed outdoor/indoor pool, and with lots of room to "recline" poolside. The food and service was spot on, and the best part was the HUGE foyer, with a beautiful view and cozy seating, a well appointed bar, and tables to enjoy family distancing "happy hour" games. The ONLY downside was the lack of onsite fishing, but the golf and horseback riding made up for it! We are already planning a trip to enjoy the fall leaves and fireplace!

First off, I rarely EVER EVER write a poor review BUT I seriously recommend this “resort” needs to update not only its rooms but it’s housekeeping and cleanliness in the “resort” rooms. I’m absolutely convinced without a doubt that our room had bedbugs as well as two rather large spiders and a mouse (though cute) on the floor at our room door in the hallway. The towels smelled weird as well. I did call and update them of the bed bug complaint and they comped me one night stay but that will not even come close to the hassle of washing absolutely everything when we get home, not to mention the “bites” this has caused! Gross! Over all, I highly doubt I will EVER stay again unless I’m desperate for accommodations. Though other than that, the resort itself is very pretty. I’d love to write a very different review, however I honestly cannot. I hope your experience is better than ours. Thank heavens for hydrocortisone and tea tree oil!

Response from Brasstown Staff, General Manager at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa
Responded Jul 26, 2021
I apologize for the poor lodging experience you had as our guest this past week. I will be inspecting the room with my Housekeeping and Engineering Manager this morning regarding your concern that the room has bedbugs. I have also contacted Orkin to assist in addressing your concern and the mouse you saw in the guest room corridor. I will ensure that the room attendant responsible for servicing your room is made aware of the cleaning concerns and retrained. We will address each short coming with a focus on immediate improvement. It is my hope you will consider allowing us the opportunity to regain your confidence in the future. Hello. During the winter they have a number of activities available in the main lodge for entertainment. Especially during the holidays including a visit from Santa, a Gingerbread village and lots of decorated Christmas trees. Their holiday meals are awesome, but require advanced reservations. Their New Year's Eve party is not to be missed.
Horses looked healthy and beautiful in the field grazing.
The fireworks on July 4th are outstanding. This is a $10k show over the golf course with plenty of room to relax under the stars, watch the show and listen to music provided by a DJ (weather permitting of course)
I love the spa. I have been several times. Yes, make reservations early. It's so peaceful and relaxing. That's on my to do list each time I go.
