The ApartHotel is situated near a beautiful serene beach. The Hotel Staff spoke English and were very friendly. The Hotel Manager/ Receptionist in particular was very kind and informative about the local places/ things to do in Novigrad Dalmatia. The room we stayed was clean and pet friendly. Overall: 5 Stars.

WELCOME We arrived on a Saturday to find only one person working at reception with a queue of people to check in so we were forced to leave our bags in the unlocked hallway. The apartment complex exterior was run down. We attempted to get some drinks for our family but had to wait 40 minutes for 8 sprites. We then walked into the village (20 min walk) to find somewhere to eat. There are only two resteraunts in the village, and they are very basic. ROOMS The rooms are incredibly basic. Two of us had to share a double bed which was essentially a sheet over a cardboard mattress and paper thin pillows. Another of the so called beds provided was a creaky, DUSTY sofa bed. The air conditioning works intermittently but only cools one room, the other ones are without. There was a WASP NEST outside our room so we could not open our windows. We asked management to remove the best - they did not. The bathroom was covered in mod and the shower was flimsy and spilt onto the floor leaving it DIRTY AND WET. The kitchen was NOT FILLY EQUIPPED in the slightest - a knife and fork was all we got. The rooms WERE NOT CLEANED and toilet roll was never replaced so we had to take it from the communal toilet area as none was given when we asked. BREAKFAST INCREDIBLY DISHEARTENING - bread, plasticy cheese, cheap ham, plums and put of date yoghurt. If we were lucky there was some left over dessert from the night before or some mangled egg mix. The other guests smoke relentlessly so we mostly ate breakfast in our rooms. LUNCH AND DINNER We only had one meal that came within half an hour. The first night, it took 1 hour for the ‘salad’ of chopped cucumber and tomatoe to arrive, we then waited another hour for the second courses of soup (gelatinous and cold) and another hour for plain pasta and goulash. DINNER TOOK 3 HOURS TO ARRIVE. We also received gritty unwashed mussels during our stay which clearly hadn’t been cleaned of seaweed or other bits of dirt. Another gem was a mackerel, with all the bones and eyes intact served to our party (even to 9 year old children.) Our other meals were similarly inedible but the last was particularly awful. A similar wait for the ‘salad’ and then mashed up left over mackerel (from a previous meal) from two nights earlier served combined with potatoes and bones. No one in our party could stomach it. The next course arriving after half an hour was a risotto. We were excited to try it but again it was inedible and no one could eat it! It was too salty. We are not fussy but it was without a doubt the worst food we had ever eaten. We had to ask for chips and steak. Dinner took 3 + hours again. ACTIVITIES There were no activities offered by the hotel or the staff like rafting or jet skiing. ACTIVITIES

The ‘apartment complex’ is completely isolated with not much to do around it. The beach advertised is concrete with no shade and full of leery men. The communal areas are run down and unappealing. The service is slow - 40 minutes for 8 diet cokes to arrive. The rooms are mouldy with uncomfortable sofa beds and uncomfortable mattresses. The air con doesn’t work and neither does the Wifi. There is a wasp nest outside the window to our room so we are not able to open any windows. All in all so dissapointing and less than basic service provided. A scam.

We stayed here in April when the tiny place is still tourist free and we were overwhelmed with how pretty it is! The area is like something out of a Disney film. The hotel is basic but comfortable and just so reasonably priced this was what we expected. Breakfast was also basic (croissants, cereal, bread and meat and cheese) but just what you needed for a day out and eaten on the balcony with the views of the beach much improved it. The owner told us this was her first season, so I really think any previous negative reviews can be ignored. She is super attentive and will obviously do anything to improve your experience - my daughter doesn’t drink tea or coffee so on our second day she asked if she wanted hot chicolate. After that she made it without being asked, my daughter was overjoyed! We stayed in a room with a sea view and balcony which was amazing, our suite had a living area, small kitchen, bedroom and bathroom with shower. It was well stocked with extra pillows and loads of towels which had worried me after reading reviews but these turned out to be false. The air conditioner works well for cooling and heating the rooms which was useful as it did get chilly one night. I agree with the TripAdvisor review that says it can be a little bit isolating, I didn’t see any buses while we were here (that doesn’t mean there aren’t any of course) and without the hire car we might have gotten bored. But there’s a shopping centre, Zadar and loads of other little interesting towns within half an hour away. Driving is easy as the hire car man told me, they don’t like roundabouts in Croatia. This is well worth it, with flights and car hire our whole holiday was less than £300 and I can’t imagine there’s anywhere better to go for that budget.

My son and I stayed here for a week. Our balcony (double balcony actually as it was the length of our living room and bedroom) had the most glorious views out over Novigrad Bay. The sea was literally on our doorstep, with the beach being just down the steps from our hotel. It's a stony beach rather than a sandy beach but my son is a teen now so we're gone beyond the excitement of building sand castles :-) A number of evenings we ate on the outdoor restaurant terrace where we sat overlooking the sea while watching the sun setting - idyllic! I loved the hotel and my son slept on the sofa bed under the air con and there was wifi so he was happy too. All good!
