Stayed in this hotel for one night. Check in was quick and with minimal fuss as I already booked online (in some other 5* hotels, despite booking online they still require you to physically fill up forms). Front counter staff was courteous and friendly. Ate dinner and had breakfast in hotel. Food spread was reasonable and taste wise, acceptable. Stayed in their Junior Suite. Bed was comfortable but carpets had spots in some areas. Overall an acceptable stay. Please note that Tawau is a smaller town, you can’t compare this hotel to the likes of international 5* hotels.
Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this hotel. Nice foyer, friendly staff and good sized room. Also breakfast was included. The first night we were there we had an enormous thunderstorm. Very noisy but we slept on and off. When we got up we found that all the surrounding streets were flooded knee high, and wondered how we would get to town. Ha ha ha . The hotel electricity was off, including the lifts, we were on the 14 th floor. Spoke to reception and was assured that it was only temporary and would be fixed very soo. So we walked down the 7 floors for breakfast. 2 of our party had real mobility issues. After a cold breakfast we walked the remainder down to reception and waited. And waited and waited. No updates were forthcoming. In all we waited till two pm before asking what was being done. I was starving. There was food or drinks, no air con and it was around 30 degrees. Eventually we were offered a lift to a nearby restaurant for lunch, then brought back to the hotel. We Waited and waited, it was getting dark by now. Eventually after much heated conversation, they agreed to move us into another hotel for the night. All our things were still on the 14 th floor, no one offered to collect them. So the fitter two of the party had to climb the 14 floors and throw some things together. We hung around the lobby for a couple of hours, in the dark, until eventually we were taken to another hotel. Not a nice hotel, just another hotel. The following day we had booked a trip so we're away early and for the whole day. No word from the hotel and no answer when we were calling them. We arrived after 6 as it was getting dark and were so relieved to find the lights and the lifts working. Got to our room, and there was no water, no shower and no toilet. This continued until the following evening.. I understand that this was an exceptional experience. No one can predict the weather, but surely such a large hotel should have contingency plans for such as this. We were there 4 days and had no electricity or water for three of them. The staff did not seem to know what to do and only by insisting did we get any help. We did manage to get a lift to the airport as some form of apology but it totally ruined our stay there.…
Good Location. Easy to shopping mall. Dirty bathroom, Bed Sheet, pillow, blanket - bad smell. Hotel Customer need to pay for a car parking fee. The hotel to renovation the hotel room to the modern and clean room hotel
The room is ok but not great either. Just as basic as it can be. But for me, as my stay there is just for a sleep after long hours of work, it is fine. Breakfast also is average and not have a lot of variety. Not much to appreciate but not much to complaint also. Maybe the only thing that is great about this hotel is if you stay at higher floor you can have a good view of Tawau as there is not many high rise building there.
This hotel is the same group with promenade hotel Kota Kinabalu. Breakfast spread was not as great as promenade KK. The mall next to the hotel looks uninteresting. But ok for overnight before going off to airport
