River's End is Tybee Island's only campground. We are 3 blocks to the beach and 16 miles from historic Savannah. We offer campsites for tent campers, RV's and we have cabin rentals. See you under the oaks!
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We spent two nights here. I originally only reserved one night. Upon arrival I asked if I had the option on the site I had reserved for a second night. The site I reserved was only available for one night but they looked and found a site available for two nights and allowed a hold until 10am the following day before I confirmed I wanted a second night. The campground was clean and quiet. The shower rooms were great. The showers were of the suite type where each shower was by itself along with a sink and toilet. Would definitely stay there again

We stayed for two nights at the Rivers End Campground on Tybee Island. Their late night checkin process was perfect and one of the (I'm guessing seasonal campers) escorted us to our site. Thank goodness we had an escort through the winding streets to an end pull-thru site. The campground is in a residential area and one entire row of sites abuts the road and homes across from campground. We felt the sites were too close to each other but others may be fine with it. White gravel is used for the sites and around the sites. The staff is friendly. The campground provides directions to various beaches in the area. Ask them how long a walk or ride it is to the beaches - some are walking distance while others you'll want to drive. Note, if you drive, you will have to pay for parking to access the beach. They have a large pool. Bonus, they have an area to drop off recyclables. Overall the campground was okay.

This is the island’s only campground and it is pretty nice. It’s a bit crowded, hence the 4-star rating, but they have done a nice job with the landscaping and planning of the sites to give some privacy.
We had site number 35 near the entrance and it was a pull-in/back-out level site with shade. The sites have white pebbles for ground cover.
The campground is within walking distance of 3 nice restaurants and some cute shops. Downtown Tybee is 2 miles away from the campground and there is a local taxi service called Breezy Riders that will drop you anywhere on the island for $5 a person.
The campground has a beautiful pool, nice bathhouses, community areas and cabins for rent. The staff was friendly and helpful.

This couple stayed 3 nights in a cabin at the campground. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Pool was nice. Cabin was clean enough, but looked old and run down. Little things showed cleaning should be better (food left in freezer, pencils and tampax left in bunk bed frames). Couples bed was just a full size. Bathroom was adequate, with a newish shower curtain. The one air conditioner was adequate for bedroom if door stayed open, but was then cold in living room. But mostly, the value for the cost was terrible. For over $200/night, contract required renters to supply all linens, blankets, pillows, towels, bath mat, kitchen towels. No shampoo or soap provided at all. There was no coffee maker, no dishes, no silverware, no pots and pans, no stove. Cooking inside cabin could only use the small microwave. It is true that all of this was in the contract, so it was not a surprise. Had we not been meeting camper friends there, we would not have agreed to this. My opinion: poor value for the cost.

We booked our stay with River's End because the area state parks were booked and the River's End location was convenient to downtown Savannah and Tybee attractions.Â
The bathhouse was a very short walking distance from our site and was kept tidy. Staff members were friendly, helpful, and gave good recommendations for where to eat and what to do on the Island. All of which we appreciated.Â
We stayed four nights in our tent in the primitive camping area. Our campsite was located right behind the trash receptacles for the primitive campsites and on a main entrance to the RV park and to the community dog park. Visitors sped down this road with no regard to the speed bumps and garbage trucks came early in the morning. We were already expecting noise from fireworks on New Years but we were not expecting two extremely loud tow trucks at 1am.
With the excessive noise disturbance and the location of our campsite the nightly rate was extremely over priced.
Don't forget your earplugs!!

Response from RiversEndCampground, Guest Relations Manager at Rivers End Campground and RV Park
Responded Feb 4, 2020
Holiday weekends are always full of excitement and unpredictable. Unfortunately, we are a small park and do not have noise barriers around the tent sites. Being next to the Police Station can have it drawbacks, but guest safety and peace of mind always come first. There are posted speed limit signs and speed bumps to deter speeding. The garbage trucks are scheduled to come after 9 am. Please if you choose to stay with us again give us the opportunity to change your accommodations. We do have other tent sites located in a different area of the park.

This campground is quirky and has a lot character. Our first thought was "what did we do?". There are a variety of site sizes and some of them are close to others and are situated at odd angles. Some of the sites are next to the street, but the street does not have a large amount of traffic. Large RVs can still access many of the sites despite the narrow roads and some moss covered branches. Park hosts assist with making sure you are able to safely park at your designated site. Sites are gravel with a picnic table and a fire ring provided. Our site required us to add blocks under the front in order for the RV to be level. We were situated at a great location, close to the office, laundromat and other facilities. We were also close to a community dog park that has gated access directly from the campground.
We did not use the showers, but those facilities looked clean and well maintained. The laundry room was clean and centrally located. The pool is a good size for a neighborhood campground and appeared to be well maintained. They claim that it's the largest pool on the island. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful as well as most of the other campers we met along the way. Wifi was fairly good in the morning and late at night. Through the day and during prime evening hours it was not very good. They provided tv cable but we found that it was not good service for us. We had several strong over the air signals when needed. We did like the features and character of Rivers End and felt very comfortable at this property. Despite a few shortcomings, we will consider staying there again.
The beach is within walking distance as well as several casual restaurants. The dogs were allowed at the restaurants we visited, but they are not allowed on the beach. There are several bike trails and walking trails on the island. The main business area is about 2 miles from the campground. Golf carts are available to rent from another local business and are a very good way to travel around the island. You can park a golf cart for free at stores and restaurants, but all cars are required to have a parking permit.

We were told we were to get a “preferred site” if we paid an additional fee. The site we got is in full sun. The RV’s are so close that we could not even have a fire or we would set the RV next to us on fire. The shaded sites are big enough for our RV, so the “preferred site” is just a scam.

Would love to return! Friendly, helpful staff, clean bathrooms & laundry, great shade trees, and an easy walk to the beach. We’re in a small camper, and our site was nicely rocked (so no mud issues when the rainstorm hit). Wifi worked great for streaming. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's a great place for families. Our tent campsite was clean, contained a fire ring, a grill, water and electric. The pad was sand and gravel and held a camp stake nicely. It was totally level. The bathrooms are cleaned spotless every four hours and the trash removed daily (if not twice a day) . The campground is pretty, nice landscaping and well laid out. The sites are small, so talk softly unless you want the neighbors to overhear. The islands garbage trucks drive through around 6 am, woke me up, but not my husband. The river beach (which is a great place for beach combing, fishing and laying in the sun is a 2 minutes run and a 5 minute walk. The ocean beach is a 15 minute stroll and short bike ride. Or you can drive up and park for $7 per 2 hour period. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The pool is sparkling. The cabins looked cute and two of them have AC/Heat. Tent campers, not pets allowed. Cannot hand a clothes line or hammock on the trees. Altogether an very enjoyable experience. We will probably be returning later in the year

This is a wonderful campground. The sites are mostly white stone and shell with some trees. There is a small, well kept pool. You can get parking passes from the island and you are within walking distance of river beach, which is lovely and much less busy than all of the other beaches we found. Some of the sites have fire rings. If you have or rent a golf cart, it must be electric. There was quite the deluge one evening and a few of the tent sites were rather soaked. We had a premium spot for our camper and had no trouble. The electric stayed on the entire time despite a couple storms. Shower houses are kept clean. We really enjoyed our time here!
