we stayed at "Le Chavane" for 2 nights, our room was extremely cosy with lots of selfmade wooden furniture. Our host was very helpful, eg, he proposed a really fine hiking route to the top of the "col de l'Aulp", he provided us with a delicious survival picknick :). The breakfast was another fine experience, he presented us home made bread and other local products. It was very unlike "regular" french breakfast! This b & b is a unique place to stay for nature lovers, we will surely return! Annick&Luc
The room is clean, well appointed and the guest lounge is large, airy and with alarge table to eat your own food in the evenings. The location is delightful and nice touches such as home made bread, or brioche, cakes each day at breakfast and home made jam. Catherine and Benoit are excellent hosts - friendly and helpful, even helping me carry my hand glider to store in their barn. We conversed happily in both English and French. The price is very reasonable and it is excellent value for money. I will be back!
I spent several days in La Chavanne several times in the last 2 years. The B&B is perfect with cosy bedrooms homemade breakfast very quiet with view on the beautiful mountain landscapes. Catherine and Benoît are very helpful giving a lot of information for booking restaurants or trails to do. One of the most advantages is that the B&B is very closed to the paragliding school K2 for accro and SIV trainings or tandem flights. I recommend warmly the place.
Set on a quiet plain, half way up a mountain. Silence and beauty on what was a sunny warm (23degree) evening. This is a small B&B in an old farm house. Good rooms and great bed with a wonderful breakfast with home made brioche and 'milk jam' (a first for me) and lovely bread. Parked outside. Hard to find so do your research before you arrive. Benoit was a great host. Less pleased with local eating places. There are three of these a little further up the mountain close to where hand gliders launch. We had a drink at one and moved (possibly a mistake) to another to eat. Not great. Next time I would head down into the valley and find a local eating place.
La Chavane is the perfect chambre d'hote for those who enjoy peaceful mountain scenery. Benoit and Catherine are most accommodating hosts, and provide excellent breakfasts featuring freshly made brioche, scones and muffins complimented by homemade jams. La Chavane is perfect for those looking to savour a beautiful location, and yet only a half an hour drive for those who enjoy the hustle and bustle of Annecy town and lake. There are a range of walks available from the front door of the chambre d'hote. Several restaurants can be found within an 8 minute drive offering menus to suit all ages and tastes. For us, the refuge de Pre-Verel at the foot of La Tournette is a must for those who enjoy delicious homemade savoyard food, freshly made to order. http://www.preverel.info/
