The Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort appears to struggle with maintaining guest satisfaction in several areas. While its location is often commended for both convenience and scenic views, especially by conference-goers, the hotel's overall experience is tarnished by room cleanliness issues, security concerns, and unmet expectations regarding views and housekeeping. Visitors anticipate a tranquil atmosphere, but are instead met with noisy disturbances. Despite some appreciation for the resort's amenities, the enjoyment is dampened by neglected upkeep and service shortcomings, leading to a sentiment that the resort does not provide value commensurate with its costs.

We are locals who booked a room to take our kids swimming since most of the pools in Atlanta are closed. The setting of this property is lovely. The rooms are clean. The service is mediocre at best. (For example, the pool bar sells cheeseburgers but wouldn’t let me buy a roll with cheese for my kid who doesn’t eat meat. No one is going to go out of their way to help here.). But the biggest downfall IMO is the lack of covid protections being taken. The lady working in the lobby Starbucks had her mask hanging around her neck. The lady working at the pool bar did too. Housekeeping staff weren’t wearing masks. In fact, other than the 2 front desk agents and the poor guy working at the grill outside in 90 degree weather, I did not see a single mask worn by any hotel employee or guest the entire time we were there. Not one. The pool area was not cleaned or sanitized in the 5 hours we were there. Nor did I see much cleaning of common areas going on. And - not that this was the hotel’s fault - but on a Sunday afternoon after check out time the pool was absolutely packed and social distancing was a challenge. Seems like lots of people had the same idea we did! Georgia has nearly 3000 new Covid cases today and DeKalb County has among the highest numbers in the state. This property needs to step up its game.

All of the staff from the front desk to the housekeepers we encountered were extremely friendly. The first floor rooms had been renovated and other floors were undergoing remodels as well. For the most part, everything was clean and fresh, though I did find a piece of a Cheeto at the room's door and a sock beside the treadmill in the fitness center. One of the work stations in the business center would not connect to the Internet. On the positive side, though, the front desk was helpful in answering questions, and conference food was delivered on time and seemed plentiful. There appeared to be ample parking and, unlike so many location-challenged places in Atlanta, no fee for parking in an overcrowded lot, with the exception of those who chose to valet.

I booked a junior suite for an early birthday gift to my husband. The suite looked a bit different from the website. Double door entry had an inch gap (door not completely sealed), balcony was dirty (dead bugs, bird droppings, cobwebs), chair soiled/stained, carpet not completely vacuumed, food still in & under microwave, dust & hair on sink toiletries, toilet seat was so damaged (I could not understand why it was not replaced), and shower door seal or slider rail was warped as water keep spraying out. The noise from above and yelling, running, music was not appreciated nor was not having an ice machine working on our floor. Paying the price for that suite, was not worth it AT ALL. After all our travels, I bring cleaning & sanitizing items with us. I wiped down everything as you could literally see the dust/dirt.
The location was great and all the trails provided different views of the mountain. I do not believe we will stay at this resort again. We may pay the $20 fee to walk a few trails, if we ever decide to visit that location again and stay somewhere else.
Note* I took several photos of this suite, but I choose not share them on this site.

Pros: The biggest perk is the location. You are staying within the Stone Mountain Park grounds so it is easy to come and go from the park. It sits on a lake that offers lovely views. I appreciated that they required masks, but unfortunately the rule was not enforced. I also liked that our room had been updated so it had modern decor.

Cons: While the room had nice finishings and was aesthetically pleasing, it was evident that ours was not maintained well. There was mold in our room, the balcony area was quite dirty and the beautiful lakeview was tarnished by all of the litter lying about, and our bathroom sink had a leak. The hotel also experienced two power losses in our short stay (note: it was not storming).

Summary of Stay:
My husband and I stayed at the hotel one night for our anniversary. We opted for the resort because we thought it would feel nicer and more romantic than the other hotel that is closer to the park. Unfortunately we were very disappointed.

Room: The biggest issue we faced was in our hotel room. We were laying in bed and I kept getting a strong scent of mold or mildew. I got up to see if there were any obvious signs of it or any wet spots near where the smell was coming from. I couldn't figure out the source. It was really late and we were very tired, so we just moved over to the other bed farther from the smell. Not long after that we lost power (unclear as to why, it wasn't storming or anything). The power did return shortly after, but then the TV stopped working for the next 30 minutes. We just wanted to watch a little television before going to sleep (it eventually did start working again). The next day I looked again for the source of the smell and realized it was the power outlet. We collected our things and went to the lobby to check out and tell the staff about our issues. When we got there, they had experienced another power surge, and all computer systems were down. Once we were finally able to check out, I let the staff know about our concerns (primarily the mold and the bathroom sink having a leak). She asked me to email her, but I never heard back. I got an automated reply stating she was out of the office and would return October 2nd, but no follow up from there to let me know my email was received or to apologize for my poor experience.

Food: As a 4 star resort, I thought the food would be pretty decent. We ate dinner as well as breakfast at the hotel; breakfast was definitely better than dinner but neither were particularly good. I was also really surprised that a 4 star resort served our drinks to us in plastic solo cups (even my glass of wine). I have no issue drinking our of a plastic cup; the issue is being charged 4 star resort prices for an experience that does not justify the cost. That summarizes the stay...being charged 4 star resort prices for a 2 star experience.

Worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed in. I’m a Marriott bonvoy member and this place doesn’t deserve to be part of the Marriott family.

Let’s start with the cleanliness of this place. Which is non existent. Place is dirty and filled with bugs. I understand you’re located in the jungle and have bugs and other unwelcome guests but this should not be acceptable for a Marriott.

The staff seems like they have no training in hospitality. You need to learn how to act like a Marriott worker and not a motel 6 employee.

The “resort” should not be named or called a resort. You have no transportation or a way to get around easily for your guests. You don’t even have a spa. You ARE not a resort. You’re a glorified jungle cabin with poor wifi.

The restaurant inside the main hotel is absolute garbage with poor service.

Please improve your service and cleanliness. And place some toilet paper holders in the bathroom. You can spend hundreds of dollars renovating your rooms and adding LED lights behind mirrors but your value decreases if you don’t have basic amenities like toilet paper holders in the bathroom.

There were no toiletry kits including lotion available. No room service and no housekeeping. Why is that? You have housekeepers on staff and why are you not utilizing them? Because of COVID? I’m pretty sure daily cleaning and sanitizing rooms is probably a good idea during this pandemic.

Overall this place is a 1 star hotel. This place is like the girl you take on a date only to find out she’s the village bus that everyone on the football team got a ride on. This place is a motel 6 with a Marriott brand. Comparing this place to a motel 6 would be an insult to motel 6.

I wonder if Elon musk could invent a time machine and take me back in time to stop myself from booking this place. 🤨

I made my reservation for this hotel 3 weeks in advance. When I got there they did not have my reservation and said it was there but it wasnt. I really didn't know what that meant when I spoke with someone every week up until the day I was suppose to check in. I waited for a room 20-25 minutes because they had to get me a room and fix it up since I had the romance package that came with rose pedals, champagne, chocolate strawberrys, dinner and breakfast. The room was not nothing to brag about and the bathroom was really small the shower was dirty and hair was in the shower. Now I see why it didnt take longer for them to clean the room even with covid. The water pressure was very low. When I went to dinner we had to pay 25.00 for gratuity which was in the check. Valentine morning I had to go get the breakfast and breakfast was part of my package and I was charged 40.00 I asked what was this for when I payed 359.00 for the room and package and they said gratuity when the breakfast was 28.00 for 2 and I took my breakfast to the room. I went to the front desk and ask them why am I having to pay for this when I payed with my room and I am not dining in. She didn't know and said she had to call the manager in the restaurant. When I checked out they did take the 35.00 off for the breakfast and I just had to pay taxes. I really dont think this hotel is worth it not 359.00+20.00 coming into the park worse experience when I tryed to enjoy myself and do this for my husband😔

We come to Atlanta every three months for my son's appointments. We usually stay at this hotel and I try to snag the hospitality suite as often as I can! When we came in January 2020 we got a newly renovated suite on the first floor. It is a HUGE room and the renovations look amazing. Because we were on the 1st floor there was an enormous patio overlooking the lake. We had a king bed and a couch that had a twin-sized pull out bed. We ordered room service and appreciate that the prices are not outrageous like a typical room service menu. They have gluten free options on the menu and carry gluten free muffins at the cafe which is such a treat. We will be back.

Wow !!!! Let’s just start with the only positive ( the view ). Once you see the view you realize that this hotel at one point must have been amazing to come visit, but once reality hits you the hotel is just plain awful!!
The hotel is way behind the Covid-19 safety regulations, nobody had mask on and they did not follow proper social distancing. The hotel did not enforce it or did not seem to actually care. The rooms were not clean , plus they also did not provide cleaning service. The marijuana smell coming from the rooms was out of control, not something I want my grandkids to be smelling all day and night.
The employees at checking in were just rude and did not seem to care about providing customer service, so I just decided to ignore them or not ask any questions since I was just going to waste my breath and time.
Overall experience was horrible, not something that I expect from Marriott, it’s a shame to waste such a beautiful property, I urge management to look at what’s going on there and make some changes. Please do not use Covid-19 as an excuse for poor service and terrible attitudes.... there are plenty of hotels doing it right !!!!

I stay at The Marriott Evergreen in Stone Mountain for a Leadership Conference the front desk staff were very friendly. Upon check in while walking to my room the hallway had a really stale and moldy odor. When I walked into my room I noticed my room had the very same odor. I wanted to wash up before going to dinner with my colleagues the sink was clogged, the toilet was not cleaned and as I turned on the shower to shower I noticed there was hair in the shower I’m guessing from the previous guest. So needless to say I was very upset especially after a day filled with meetings and presentations. I pulled back the covers to sit on the bed to take off my shoes because of course I was reluctant to sit on and noticed that the sheets appeared to have not been changed, at this point I am furious and feeling a bit nauseous. So I gathered my things and drove 41 miles home which was almost and hour only to have to drive back in the morning for our 2nd day into the retreat. There was no way for me to leave this on their website since I left before formally checking out

We have been a Hilton family and on a roadtrip and our friends has loyalty with Marriott and we heard they have good breakfast so decided to try it out.

First you are charged $20 by Stone Mtn just to enter/ park there.

We were told by hotel staff that breakfast on weekdays are canceled b/c covid but continue every Sat.

I don't understand why risk of covid is lower on Sat. I have a feeling it's cost-saving but pretty impressive that they don't even have cereal bars. I don't understand how other 3-stars we have been staying somehow found ways to provide breakfast and this conference resort was not able to "because of covid". Another sign of budget issue is that there is hardly any staff there it seemed... prob they call come to work on Sat.

I have been to multiple conferences previously in different places. Facilities were pretty good. Feel rather old though.

Expected more with the $$ they charged.
