I was disappointed since the reviews seemed good and the photos and description reflected that. Pros: Sara who checked me in later in the day was excellent! Very personable and went out of her way to help. Room was very nice. Cons: Called early the morning of check in and asked for a quiet room. The woman (not Sara) told me they were all quiet. I said "really? Well could you at least put me somewhere not close to the pub". She told me what room they had me in. She then said, "I have to warn you we do have a wedding party here, but they've been good. They are in their twenties." I asked if she could put me away from their rooms and she said, "They are everywhere." Yikes! When I arrived, they had left a cardboard case of beer with empty cans by the pool with other trash. I knew it wasn't going to be good. They returned to the pool (which is small and has no lounging chairs or hot tub) about 10:00 p.m. and stayed for I don't know how long talking loudly (partying). Then at 3:00 am I heard knocks on a door which got louder and louder to the banging stage with yelling someone/s name. One of the girls was out by herself and her roommate had locked her out. When the lady at the front desk the next morning asked me about the noise, I said it was bad, even at 3:00 am. No comment other than they were so nice. Moving on... the drink I got in the bar upon check in, an appletini (don't judge) was the worst drink I've ever had. It was on the special cocktail list, and I ended up tossing it. I never toss a drink. Something was left out or put it. Breakfast was junk food for the most part (lots of carbs, think 6 different ways to serve bread) as others have commented. I checked out a day early, couldn't take it another night. Never do that either.…
Does this place want to be a popular place to stay or do they want to be a bar? Locals patronize and pack out the bar so that the people staying there get squeezed out. We had a group of about 10 staying here and we couldn’t go inside the bar/pub due to the overflow of locals. We sat outside due to the bar being overcrowded and the bouncer (security) asked us to go to our rooms or go inside the bar (we’re staying here and the gathering places are small). We’re a group of 40+ year old professionals. Our group has been coming for about 8 years and I’m trying to convince the group to go elsewhere after the last several stays. This place has turned into a little bit of redneck central. Still a nice place to stay but the pub and the motel no longer have the same vibe. If you want to get treated like you aren’t paying for a room here then, by all means, stay. This place has worn out it’s charm.…
Watch Out for HIDDEN FEES! Rooms are advertised at a reasonable rate. Your final bill comes through with 5 different taxes and a $20.00/day amenity fee. I was told the amenities were the BAGGED Breakfast, a place to park, the swimming pool, the all day available coffee, the creams and soaps in your room, chocolates on your pillow, three $3.00 off drink tickets, etc. They didn't mention the toilet paper?? The website says the inn is a bed & breakfast and advertises the wonderful hot breakfast with beautiful pictures. The said "it is a BAG breakfast because of COVID". Yet the room that served the breakfast also is the bar. Both nights of the weekend, there was music and a crowd of people, dancing and kissing. Friday night was loud music to near midnight. Crowd stayed until long after. Standing room only all the way to the bar and out into front walks. COVID is a lame excuse. The bar income is obviously a higher priority. The inn was attractive, relatively clean and the staff was friendly. The bathroom was cramped.…
We found this inn quite by mistake when coming to SSI for one night to view the lighthouse. What a gem! The rooms are beautiful and quiet. We loved the fact that there was an on-site pub and a to go breakfast packed for us in the morning. Be sure to get a room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard, not the street. Take the St Simons Trolley your first day to decide where you want to go back to later and spend more time. We will be back!
Jan will immediately make you feel welcome as you check into this private oasis. As a respite & retreat to what can be the hectic rush of St. Simons in the summer, I was more than a few times challenged to get away from the pool area to see the rest of the Island!
This is an adorable little place with clean, cool rooms, awesome location, and friendly staff. However, our experience was shadowed somewhat by the following: 1) Breakfast is now a brown bag with yogurt, dry cereal, muffin, fruit due to "covid." However, it became very obvious that this is just a cost savings, not an actual covid concern. Why? Because at night when there is live music, 25+ guests are crammed in to a tiny space that holds maybe 12 people comfortably. I have NO issue with this as people can choose to be in whatever crowds they choose. But, don't pretend the lack of a good breakfast is due to covid concerns when there is a much higher chance of a virus spreading by all the folks dancing together than there is with a few folks at a time wandering in for breakfast. It's saving you time and money; just be honest about it. 2) I was stunned by the $20 PER NIGHT "amenity fee" that we were hit with at checkout. When I questioned it on the bill, I was told it was for-get ready for this-the $3 discount drink coupons provided and the brown bag breakfast. Um, what?? Listen, keep your drink coupon and I can walk down the street for breakfast for way less than $20! I couldn't believe that was the answer. So, if the Inn corrects these 2 issues I believe this would be a wonderful little place to stay, provided some lounge chairs are purchased for the pool. Right now there's just regular patio chairs in which you must sit upright. Not a big deal, but didn't encourage hanging out by the pool.…
Check in and out with Connie and Deb smooth. Both very pleasant and helpful. Grounds well kept and enjoyed the pool in the hot summer afternoon. Room clean and bed comfortable. Highlight was our evening in the Pub with Mike and Karen. Local musicians entertaining and met several residents. First visit and we'll be back.
I had taken a bus trip from Ohio down there about 10 years ago and loved the Inn so I wanted my husband to see it. We stayed in Room 204 (last time was room 104) which was right below us. The layout of the room was the same~just in reverse. The room had been kept nice and looked like they had upgraded it. I would say I enjoyed being on the first floor more than the second but it wasn't a deal breaker. We went down to the pub the first night and used our $ 3.00 off cards for drinks and enjoyed talking with the bartender. He gave us some good suggestions on places to eat during the week we were there. I was a little disappointed that we had to either take our breakfast back to the room or eat at the tables outside~I enjoyed eating in the little breakfast room/pub the last time I was there. I love the tropical look of the Inn and it's so convenient to everything in the downtown area and pier. I would definitely stay there again!…
Great place for romantic get-away or fun weekend exploring the islands with friends. Room was so pretty, clean and convenient to shopping and activities. We had planned a 2 night stay but Hurricane Elsa was closing in... the staff could see we were nervous and graciously told us not to worry about the second night. They only charged us for the 1 night. I hope to return and see all the sites we missed!
Though a bit expensive, I always return to this establishment as I know there will be no surprises and it will be immaculately clean and orderly. You will find that most rooms has its own balcony with wrought iron chairs and a table. It is only a short walk to the village shopping and eating restaurants. From there to the pier and the light house park.
