This is the 3 rd time my husband, myself and our dog Buck have camped here. Each time has been awesome but the last time about a year and a half ago there was an issue with fellow campers being way too loud early into the morning. There was a huge difference this time. There were no noise violations and... More

I found this fort very interesting. It's an earth works fort. I have never seen one like this before. The whole fort is under ground. To go into where these men stayed years ago to see how they lived and what they did to maintain amazes me. My teens even thought it was "cool" which is a plus. The view... More

We stayed 4 nights in a 30 ft tt. Site 27 was nice and large. View of woods revealed deer one night. We were near the new bath house which closed for a day. The older bath house had nicer showers. Bike/walking trails were fun. Geocaching was abundant. We did 6 in the campground alone-many more to locate. Canoed on... More

I think "Not Thrilled" needs glasses. This is an awesome campground! It is on a small island surrounded by marsh and water. Large, quiet sites with a canopy of live oaks. Great marina and restaurant just up the road. Lots of history including the fort and a cool driving trail around the Richmond Hill area. Henry Ford restored this fort... More

My wife and I camped here for 2 days as a rest stop on our way to Ft clinch state park Fl . when we arrived at the park, the weather was noticeable warmer than when we left home (Lexington sc ). This was a welcome change. We rested on the first day. The next day we explored the Civil... More

This was our 1st time to Ft. McAllister... we camped in site #11 (I hate to share it b/c we don't want our secret out! LOL) Talk about gorgeous sunset views... and great wildlife watching. A few racoons, armadillo & deer visited us during our stay, which always makes it more fun. Great trails... small campground suitable for families, couples... More

We did not stay at the campground but toured the Civil War fort which was beautifully interpreted. Great intro video and museum as well. Neat to see inside the bomb proof, equipped with bunks. Great walking for kids.

We camped here in a 40' motorhome. The large dirt site was easy to level on and was very shady. Our particular site was supposed to be a pull-thru but the first turn in was too tight to make in our rig so we used it as a back-in site. The situation was our own fault as they let you... More

Really nice state park, lots to do with the family. We went on the weekend so it was busy but the sites are arranged so that it doesn't feel crowded. There is fishing, hiking, kayak rental, a cute little museum and nice, well kept facilities. The kids are already asking to go back. Located just a few miles off of... More
