Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant celebrates its centennial in 2022. 100 years of creating memories! It's the last surviving mountain lodge on a lake in Georgia. Because it has stayed true to the look and the feeling of another, perhaps more peaceful, time, it's been called both a regional and a national treasure. For decades generations have enjoyed the beauty of the lake and mountains. Carefully restored by preservationists in 2008 to maintain its ancestral charm, it features gardens of native plants, rock pillars and walkways, locust log decks, and balconies with views of old-growth oaks, pines, and hemlocks. Lake Rabun is one of the most beautiful lakes in the mountains of North Georgia.
We enjoyed our stay on Saturday night. We were in town for a funeral. The staff was very accommodating in allowing us to check in a little early. The Moonshine room was clean. Queen sized bed was comfortable. Room is a little small but was perfect for our purpose. Great water pressure for hot Shower Sunday am. Only thing my husband missed was a tv in the room. Breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent. We had frittata, fresh fruit, sausage, and tasty croissant roll. After breakfast we we went to local park to view waterfalls and hike. Would highly recommend this if you have time in the area. Would stay again.

I loved this hotel for so many reasons. It’s historic look and feel is so much better than cookie cutter hotels. The staff is so friendly and warm. The beds were so comfortable. Water pressure in shower was good and strong. We stayed in Garden room which had its own little balcony. But spent a lot of time with our 4 friends on another balcony where you can hear the bubbling koi pond and sit amongst the trees. We attended a Wednesday wine tasting which was great and dined in the restaurant on Thursday. Superb food and ambiance. If you want different charming and cozy, stay here.

This is not a hotel it’s a bed & breakfast. The home is rustic with a lot of seating areas. The windows had plastic and tape on them and they are not allergic to dust. They do have a restaurant there which was good food. However you do go away hungry, if you’re looking for a place to sit around and visit the guests or look through old magazines while you kill time this is the place to go. There was other couples there when we went that also thought it was a hotel. I’m fine with not being tied to my phone but there was NO service We would not go again

Thank you so much for your review. We always appreciate guests' feedback! Although our hotel may be confused for a bed and breakfast, we are in fact a historic hotel, with 13 rooms. Since we are a boutique hotel, we are able to offer freshly prepared breakfast each morning, rather than a self-serve continental breakfast, like larger chain hotels. I am so happy to read you enjoyed our seating areas and the food in our restaurant. This is a great destination place, for not only a relaxing get-away, but we are also surrounded by beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails! We can book adventures such as white water rafting, watercraft rentals, horseback riding, and so much more! Although the service is very spotty here, we do have Wifi available on each of our properties, for guest's use.

The place is nice…second time there to stay, third time to eat. Staff is very friendly. I truly wish they’d pay a bit more attention to some easy to fix details and it would be so much nicer! They just miss the mark on several key things, which is disappointing.

This was our 3 rd time at this Inn. It’s a nice place for a little rest and hiking in that part of the state. Overall the Inn is in good shape. A morning breakfasts come with the rooms. Breakfast is good, but not great. The Inn only has a dinner meal on weekends, probably due to staffing. The challenge is finding non chain restaurants open in Clayton. It seems many of the local restaurants are open only on certain days . Overall we had a nice stay . It is quiet at night, but there is construction across the street at what appears to be a new bar.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, and we appreciate you joining us for a third time! I am happy you enjoyed your overall stay with us! I hate to read you didn’t think highly of our freshly prepared breakfast each morning. Although we and a lot of restaurants in Clayton are closed on Monday and Tuesday, due to being open and busy on the weekends, we do recommend restaurants nearby in Clarkesville, GA. It is about 25 minutes away from us going South. Our restaurant is open Thursday-Saturday for regular dinner service, on Wednesdays, we offer wine tasting and a very filling charcuterie board, and on Sundays, we are open for Brunch from 11:30 to 3:30. We hope to see you again for a fourth visit!

The wife and I drove from Ocala Florida to Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant in Lakemont Georgia. We met her sister and her husband there for a couple of days of hiking and sightseeing. The hotel and restaurant are diamonds in the rough. The rooms are very comfortable and reasonably priced. The best part of the whole experience was the great staff who are very friendly, respectful courteous and good at what they do. The daily breakfast that is served is very good. The evening dinner are also very good, pricey but worth every penny. So if you looking for a good place to stay this is the place.

The hotel is unique and in a gorgeous location. Unfortunately the rooms are small so there is little room for personal belongings. Also, the hotel is *noisy*. Of course this is due to the very rustic, old nature of the building. Each room has a sound machine, which is helpful. But it must be turned up so high to block the sounds from outside the room that you don't have a quiet environment in your room. The hotel markets itself as a romantic place for couples to reconnect. I thought that was an unfortunate misstatement. We could hear *every* word said in the room next to ours. Kind of killed the romance. ☹️

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us, due to the rooms being “small”, and “noisy”. The second historic floor, where you booked your reservation has stayed very close to the original since 1922, hence the tight quarters and thinner walls. These rooms originally did not have bathrooms. When the bathrooms in each room were installed, the rooms became smaller. We do, however, understand the rustic and historic experience is not for everyone, therefore, we added the 3rd floor with five larger rooms. We upgraded each of the rooms on the 3rd floor with soundproofing insulation and other modern amenities, such as individual thermostats. I encourage you to check out these rooms on our website. For a more secluded and peaceful stay, we offer five cottages with two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, living areas, and outside decks! We hope to see you again.

I hosted a 3-day weekend yoga retreat at Forest Lodge, with clients staying at the Hotel, dinners at the restaurant, and WOW! What a wonderful experience! The Lodge was clean, tailored to my needs, and provided the perfect serene setting for the retreat. The catering kitchen downstairs made providing a catered lunch a breeze; and, having a wood-burning fire lit for us each morning added to the experience. McKayla, the hotel manager, was a joy to work with - professional, proactive, and expedient in communications, and worked with me to ensure every detail of the event was covered. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Fish Camp cottage, especially the super comfy bed, and we all delighted in our group dinners together at the LRH restaurant. Thank you for providing a wonderful getaway space - I look forward to hosting more events at Forest Lodge in the future!…

I have stayed in the hotel in the past and not issues. This time we stayed in the cabin I would recommend you check the cabin out before staying. We had mice dropping on the couch under the pillow and on both bed upstairs under the pillow. If you had just clean before we came those would not have been there that quick. A few spider web in the cabin too. They did offer to move us but we had already up packed and didn't notice the bed until later after talking with them. The next day they did come and change our bedding and gave us a 10 percent discount. Still bothers me if you did check you cleaners work how you did not notice the mouse dropping. If we stay her again will check cabin before hand.

Thank you for leaving your feedback! During the winter, we do have mice and other little rodents looking for warmth. I have spoken to each of my employees to ensure they pay more close attention to details when cleaning or checking each room/cottage. I am very sorry you had to experience that. We did have another cottage available that we offered to you, but I understand not wanting to move after getting settled in. We want each of our guests to have a wonderful experience; since you did not, we made sure you were compensated for that. Thanks again for leaving us your feedback, which is very appreciated! We hope to see you again in the future!

Beautiful location, nice views of the surroundings and the hotel is well maintained. The rooms are pretty small but really cozy. Dinner was good. Only downside was the breakfast we waited to be seated, they were short staffed and not lot of food left. Overall was a nice experience.
