After planning to stay at another campground about 20 miles away which was...awful....we bailed and prayed for another solution down the road. The owner was kind enough to find us a lovely, last minute site. We wish we would have booked several nights here. The spot was level and included a covered picnic table on the river. The campground was quiet and felt very secluded even though it’s right next to the highway. The layout was not a cookie cutter RV park, it was original and fun. We will be back to spend more than one night soon.
This campground feels calm and secluded, but it is close to the gorge and plenty of restaurants. They provide primitive tent camping, spots for RVs, and cabins. We had our tent, but the owner let us stay in a "hut" style building right on the river. There is a cool recreation building to hang out in if you are feeling sociable, or if you want to relax and read inside during an afternoon rain shower. Bathrooms were clean. I want to live at this campground!
Owner was very nice but first night neighbors arrived and set up 1:30 a.m. We complained and 2nd night they were up partying till 3 a.m. Showers and bathroom needed cleaning and smelled like rotten eggs. Will not return.
We visited north Georgia from VA for my birthday and happened to stumble upon this place during an internet search. We were lucky enough to stay during the hippie fest and the music was amazing. They even had breakfast Sunday morning. What a great place to stay! Beautiful tent camping on the river, not to mention such nice people that run the place. The nearby hiking was great and this was a beautiful place to return to in the evening.
What an amazing place! We enjoyed camping at River Campground for 5 days. Wish we could stay longer. This place is very serene and peaceful. Not far from Tallulah Gorge State Park, close enough to restaurants and shopping in a little charming down of Clayton, and minutes away from South Carolina border. I would highly recommend River Campground to everyone.
I had several family members, and their pets, evacuated from the recent hurricane. We found this perfect, scenic, spot to park their very large RV. The caretakers of the campground were extremely helpful and very accommodating. They even provided us with a grill. It was a great experience. We had fun exploring, fishing, cooking, and campfires at this wonderful place.
This campground is right in the middle of all the attractions Rabun County has to offer without the hustle and bustle of the overcrowded on sight campgrounds at the parks. Tallulah Gorge and State Park is only a 3 minute drive away! This charming campground has a campsite for every kind of camper, RV, Cabin, Tents, etc. We car camped at space 15 right on the river and it was great, we were able to drop our Kayaks right in the water from our sight. The campground is clean and well taken care of. We will definitely be back, and we can't wait!
I have always wanted to go onto this campground, but it was closed for sometime. So excited to see it opened back up after all this time. Perfect for primitive camping! Owners are very sweet and helpful. They are getting it back up and running so keep that into consideration please. Great location, right on the river and very quiet. Cant wait to go back!!
