Hotel's Favorite
Our trip to the gulf beaches got cancelled due to the hurricane, and I made a last minute decision to come to Jekyll Island for the first time with my 9 year old son. We stayed at the Ocean Club for four nights. I was debating staying here vs the Jekyll Island Club, but after talking to Kat on the phone, I made reservations at the Ocean Club. I'm so glad I did! Room 201 was wonderful and quiet. It is located at the very end of the hotel on the second floor, and we enjoyed the amazing, unobstructed ocean views while sitting on our balcony. I agree with a previous review that the chairs on the balcony are not the most comfortable, but I found this to be minor overall. We really enjoyed the layout of the suite and all of the space with the living room right when you walk in. I do feel the bathroom does need one more hook for towels, as one doesn't seem to be enough, especially if trying to be conservative with towel use. Again, I found this to be minor. The food at 80 Ocean was good. The first night, my order was incorrect, but I ended up receiving a credit for the item after speaking with Kat. I placed three more orders with 80 Ocean after this without any issues. I have to point out Raquan, who was a new employee at the restaurant, but assured me my second order would be right and made sure it was. I appreciated this extra effort, and he simply just had a great "above and beyond" attitude. Samantha was another Ocean club employee who we encountered that made us feel right at home. The person who stood out the most from the moment I made the reservation to the moment I checked out was Kat. It is obvious she is great at her job and genuinely cares about doing it well. I can honestly say she is one of the highlights of our stay at Ocean Club. She made it easy for us to enjoy our stay knowing if we needed anything, she was there! Keep hiring employees like Kat, and you can't go wrong. What a lovely boutique hotel the Ocean Club is, right on the ocean. We can't wait to come back!

This was our first visit to Jekyll Island and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is in a great location and very beautiful. It is a boutique style hotel and not a huge resort, but the rooms are spatious and very clean. It's an all suite hotel with every room facing the ocean with a balcony. The views are awesome! Beach is very nice! Staff was very friendly, things are a bit scaled back with Covid protections in place, so the first night we arrived we were told there was a wedding and the restaurant was very busy and no reservations or take out orders were available. There aren't a ton of restaurants on the island so we were a little miffed but just ordered pizza instead. Food in the restaurants is good, nothing over the top special but also not overly pricey either, like some resorts can be. Many of the reviews call this a family friendly resort, but we visited in the off season (Late Sept) and the staff was fine but it seemed certain guests weren't too keen on kids being around. Otherwise, we had a nice stay and look forward to visiting again.

Needing some time out of the House on a Saturday Afternoon, Visited Jekyll Island's Driftwood Beach, Shopping in the Valley and Finished with Lunch at Eighty Ocean Kitchen & Bar at the Hotel. Staff was very Diligent in Covid Precautions All had Mask on & was Constantly Cleaning Table etc. Food was Really Good Not OVER-PRICED like a lot of Tourist Hotel Restaurants. I'm looking forward to a Future Hotel Stay. Loved the Vibe the Hotel gave off.

Love the location. Oceanfront/view. For unobstructed ocean view, you will need to be on 2/3 floor. First floor view blocked by fence, shrubbery and dunes. This facility is serious about contactless, except in restaurant. Cleaning/mopping seen a lot. Distancing signs and hand sanitizer everywhere. I am feeling some type of way about spending this amount of money for decreased services. 1.No valet. Not so bad, lot is very close to front door. no bell person. They give you a dolly, then you are on your own getting your bags to your room. Pulling a loaded dolly up steps really not that easy. No active room service. If something is needed, it will be provided, but is left outside your door. Used laundry is placed in bag outside door. It is returned quickly. Empty your own garbage. Facility itself, nice clean spacious. Not crowded, whether due to time of year or Covid, not sure. 80 ocean restaurant open for B/L/D. Check online catalog or with staff for times of others being opened. Our room was basic/bland/beige/white, king w/nice sized balcony ocean front. It does overlook the pool, but not too noisy (a few small kids, not drunken adults). Lots of drawers in bedroom/bathroom alcove to unpack and place items. Adequate closet space. If you have a lot of hanging items, bring more hangers. You will get several days worth of soaps, shampoo, conditioner, etc at check-in. More will be provided if you need. The 2 things that really bugged me about the room: A. No microwave. This changed the way we had planned to eat our meals. If you want hot food in your room, stop by a big box store, get a small micro (Less than $50) and bring it with you. B. No hooks, racks or bars in the bathroom or behind br door to hang wet towels/cloths. This bugged me to no end. For us, this ended up in more towels being used since i had no place to hang them after use. Now the chairs on the balcony are not kind to everyone’s anatomy. And according to the front desk, pool loungers can not be substituted. A smaller folding/mesh type chair was found my use, so i made due. If you know you will need to have multiple cold items, bring a cooler with you. The small dorm sized fridge is not adequate. Had one problem with bug in room. Front desk person took care of it and then comped our breakfast the next morning for the inconvenience. That was really appreciated. All in all, this vacation was pleasant. The staff was as accommodating as they could during this pandemic. I believe everyone of them have been crossed trained to be able to care for all their clients needs. Although we will not return to this property, that has more to do with us rarely returning to a place we have been.
