I am a resident of Savannah, GA. My family and my parents stayed here during evacuations for both hurricanes Matthew and Irma, and have gained tremendous respect for both the families who own and manage this hotel. The managers, Sage and Paul, and the owners, Bina and Andy, have gone above and beyond expectations to care for customers during these stressful times. For examples: 1) I requested a non-smoking room upstairs and a smoking room downstairs when I booked my reservation. Sage told me that all that was available were 2 smoking rooms upstairs, so I agreed to reserve these as it appeared that I would have to evacuate for an imminent storm. I called when the storm was approx. 3 days away. The day before my reservation started, Sage called and explained that a family of 20 people from Florida were looking for rooms. She was trying to accommodate them so was calling customers to figure out how she could juggle rooms to accommodate everyone. Long story short, she made room for this large family, and provided me with the rooms that I had requested! A chain hotel would never have worked that hard to accommodate everyone! 2) The morning after the storm hit Florida, and while the storm was centered over Georgia (we had some rough weather), Sage knocked at my door, and was obviously worried. She explained that a customer from Florida was told that he had to report to work the next day or he would be fired. She was wondering whether we had an extra gas can as she wanted to provide this customer with gas for his trip. We didn't, but she continued knocking on doors until she found one and then Paul went to the station to fill it up and they presented this to the customer as he checked out! 3) My father was very sick (he passed away 2 weeks ago, 2 weeks after checking out). He and my mother needed lots of assistance with loading luggage and my father needed to be practically carried. I had to return to Savannah for work but urged my parents to stay as their home had no electricity. However, they were worried that I wouldn't be around to assist with their leaving. I was telling Paul and he urged me, "Tell them to stay. You know we'll take care of them!"...and they did. 4) Sage and Paul were seen everywhere emptying trash cans, delivering supplies to customer doors, etc. Sage told me that they had told their housekeepers that they could stay home so that they could care for their own families during the storm! 5) Our town didn't lose power, so many businesses were open. However, in nearby Statesboro, where the owners managed 3 hotels, businesses were closed. The owners were worried that their customers would not be able to find food, so they drove to our town, bought groceries, then prepared 400 meals to deliver to their guests! Now, this is not a chain or big-budget franchise, so if you are interested in high-end accommodations, this is not the place. It is not perfectly groomed and maintained, but I am confident that it is clean. Everything has been in working order (air, heat, microwave, refrigerator). I am perfectly content sacrificing amenities and perfection for superior customer service and genuine care!

My room was clean, spacious and enjoyable. It provided me with the necessary items. I was very comfortable. The manager was very accommodating and easy to work with. I was very comfortable in the handicapped room I had requested because the building is a two story building.

Several members of my family booked rooms. We were in the small town of Sylvania to attend my great aunt's birthday party. This is a convenient location but I'd never stay here again. If you're used to dealing with professional managers who take pride in customer service and treating guest with respect, this is NOT the place. First, they double booked my room. The other family member was placed in there only suite at no additional charge. I returned to the front desk to report that our room smelled like cat urine and animal hair was on the sofa. The front desk clerk offered us a room with 2 beds due to only having 1 smoking room with a king bed, which as non-smokers we didn't want. We accepted and she proceeded to get the manager, Shweta. She tells me that I have the option to stay in the stinky room or pay more for the room with double beds. In return I tell her that I shouldn't have to pay because I can't tolerate the smell and they don't have the same room type available. With an attitude, she tells me I can stay in the room or leave. Let me say, my family are long time residents and several members of our family have patronized this business for years. I suggested that she check the room and she refused. She simply did not care if a guest was left to tolerate the odor. Her demeanor and attitude was unlike any I've ever seen.even when I said I'd write to the BBB and post on social media, she twisted her neck and said go ahead if that's what you want to do. I went so far to tell her about her attitude, poor customer service and ask what was her religion. She responded Ibdusn, which is not a religion. When I told her that and asked if she was Hindi, she said yes. When I said I'd never seen a Hindi as disrespectful and with no humility, she said I am who I am and maybe I'm something else. It really didn't matter because a manager regardless of faith should never speak to a guest the way she spoke to us. She was so adamant about pets not being allowed. However, when she left the front desk, the clerk said people sneak them in and they can't catch them all. My husband stayed in the car in the parking lot to search the internet for hotels in Statesboro. The manager from hell had a nerve to call the police. I don't think she appreciated the fact that after I left with other family members, he saw them check the room and he took a picture. She had her nose so far up her butt that she couldn't check the room while I was there. Statesboro is about 30 minutes away with chain hotels, which are much nicer and the staff and trained in customer service. The Sylvania Inn is independent and being the only hotel in Sylvania thinks they don't have to treat customers with respect. We took the drive and found a much nicer room with a very nice lobby and amenities for $20 more dollars a night and well worth it.

As stated in other reviews, it is located in Sylvania. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It is a 2 story location so if stairs are a problem, be sure to book a fist floor room. My only issue was that the weatherstripping on my door was missing so there was about a 1 inch gap. I had to place a towel in front of the door to keep the cold air out (and in the summer you would need to do it to keep the bugs out). McDonalds right next door. I
