Conveniently located on Lake Chatuge in the North Georgia Mountains. Right next door to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and Anderson Music Hall--all within walking distance. We offer free breakfast, high speed wireless internet and parking. All rooms include private balcony or patio. Views of Lake Chatuge and mountains for some rooms. Conference and meeting facilities available. Restaurant on property. Catering and banquet facilities available.
Excellent view from this North Georgia mountain lodge
The lodge is perched on a peninsula within Lake Chatuge, a jewel in the TVA-created system of lakes on the Tennessee River and its tributaries. The view from the balcony of higher rooms (especially early in the morning) is spectacular. There is development on the lake, but they've done a good job of hiding it; other than a solitary boat here or there, it looks pristine.
A great view alone, though, does not make a great hotel. However, this one has very nice, clean, updated rooms, a mostly friendly staff, and great common areas. The location, besides the fact that it is very near the lake, is nice, with Hiawassee and its restaurants very close. Don't miss Hamilton Gardens a stone's throw from the lodge (but you have to drive there). There is lots of great touring just over the border in North Carolina too.
Only a couple things prevented five stars. First off, as others have mentioned, the price is a bit steep. Secondly, while the young woman at the front desk was nice, there was also a crotchety old man (a manager I guess) who acted like he didn't want to be there. I would not let those two things prevent you from staying here.
Thank you so much for the amazing review! We have always been very proud of not only our property but our town also! The staff takes pride in keeping the hotel clean and giving the guests a warm welcome. We hope to see you again in the future!

We stayed here before and that is why we chose it again. The view is worth the extra cost for a lake view room. Everyone is friendly and the first floor is especially nice. The breakfast selections leave a lot to be desired.
In general the room and bathroom are clean but the bathroom floor could really use some updating. Grout needs cleaning and in some areas replacement where it has broken out. Could also use some caulk in cracks.that don't call for grout.
First off the staff is extremely nice. They let me check in early which was wonderful. It's in a great location with a big sign (hard to miss). The views of the mountains are wonderful. within walking Distance of the fair grounds and a good bbq restaurant. It appears to be know a renovation of some kind you can see some areas where they Painted and stopped, some dents from doors in the walls, and some grout problems. But it is still a very nice hotel and it nice that there trying to keep the interior up to date. They are serving a decent breakfast even with covid everything is individually wrapped but there still are hot sandwiches and such. The staff is so very accommodating.

I have been staying here for several years now for a big car show next door at the fairgrounds. I find the place fine for a place to sleep and get a good shower. I have no complaints. Is it five star accommodations like it seems a lot of the reviewers want? No. It is a nice place to stay close to the fairgrounds and also convenient to do some mountain riding. I do feel that even with the small discount worked out by the car club that puts the car show on it is still overpriced ($388 and change) for a Friday and Saturday night stay. Breakfast is simple but included and was sufficient. I will certainly stay again next year to attend the annual car show. One thing I would love to see is a commune fire pit out back where we, the car show organizers and participants could hang out and enjoy some relaxation after the long day we have at the show. Overall enjoy my time here every year.…

This is an older hotel but is being kept up well! Wonderful views from the patios, decks and balconies! Lots of quiet places to sit or gather with friends in common areas both inside and out. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The usual toiletries at the ready and the microwave and mini fridge were in good working order. Covid style service is still in effect but fresh towels or linens are only a phone call away. Our King bed was a bit soft for our tastes. The hotel might have options but we never asked. The breakfast is simple but plenty of choices. If you need a more elaborate meal the are options close by. Lots of choices for dining a quick drive away. The staff was very friendly and helpful for our two night stay. We’ll be coming back again!

After staying at the Lake Chatuge Lodge, my husband and I had respiratory infection and pulmonary inflammation that required several visits to doctors. We saw separate pulmonologists doe to scheduling and spent over 500$ out of pocket, we’re on several different antibiotics and inhalers, aerosol treatments. Our Lund problem was determined to be due to the dusty, odorous smoke and pollution that blew out of the wall heater in our hotel room at this lodge. We contacted the hotel but NEVER heard back from anyone about our concerns and illness. It was determined not to be Legionaires disease ( thankfully) but the owners of this hotel obviously do not appear to care about their customers!! We should have taken them to court for the months we spent breathing poorly!

The lobby was musky smelling and our room was worse! This place and the rooms are DATED! One night 8/25 was $200+ uncalled for! Balcony had cigarette butts all over! Even encountered Ants in the room!

I love the views of the lake and lobby of this lodge, Great ambiance. Staff was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately the beds are awful. Room had a Mildew, rusty smell. I ended up with a headache for 36 hours. I asked staff about plans in the near future of renovation and they had no information, I did inform staff of the rusty mildew smell and awful beds . I will not be staying at this hotel again.

This was our second stay here. The lobby area is beautiful with windows facing the lake. We sat with family and enjoyed the view. The only thing that would have been better would be if there had been a walk in shower in our handicapped room. They did have bars in the tub area and a handicapped chair to sit on.

It needs quite a bit of TLC... The whole place is VERY dated. The free breakfast is very underwhelming. Make sure you bring a power strip or two with you because there aren't very many outlets in the rooms. The staff is very nice.

Hard to say, but definitely NO. Property is conveniently located, near any and attractions in the area, but NO - it is not up to any standard to gain a positive review. The property is old, the furnishings in the public areas need updating, room was fairly comfortable, but needs refurbishment. At one time the building was probably quite attractive, but not now. Desk service was OK. MUST have a room with a lake view. If not, you will be looking at a dismal parking lot. Worn deck furniture, peeling paint, etc. Breakfast was surprisingly good and plentiful, but other than that, choose another accommodation.

If you stay here make certain you get a lake front view. Views are spectacular, truly beautiful. Staff at front are really super friendly and helpful with the area. Room is really clean but it is really dated. The room is like a motel 6. Bed isn’t too comfortable. There is. Fridge and microwave in the room which is nice though. No pool, but there is a very small beach area basically across the street. Continental breakfast in the am. Wi fi is solid and small tv worked great. I would definitely stay here with this all being said.

The lodge is dated and in need of a major update. Our room was was not the cleanest and we had ants in the bathroom. Also the bathroom sink was peeling and the closest door had peeling paint. On the good side the staff was friendly and the location and views from our balcony were great. Would not stay here again.
