The Heidi motel is located in down town and is one of the most Photographed building in Helen, GA and is one of the landmarks to the town and also are currently the only Motel in this area that you can actually stay in a windmill. We do not do a Breakfast due to the fact that we are across from Bettys country store and 2 buildings down from Hoffers Bakery which we recommend to all our guest to go for a great German breakfast and lunch. We have no pool due to the fact that we are so close to the river and that there are 2 water parks in town. We are American owned and operated and live on site. We work very hard to make your stay great and really appreciate your business. Thanks Chad Jackson

This motel is so quaint and charming, and the location is perfect! We stayed in a windmill suite and loved it. The room was very spacious and completely updated, and we loved the sitting area with fireplace. Michelle was so friendly and easy to work with. We will definitely be back!

This was an excellent motel! It was reasonably priced and in the perfect location. It is set up on a hill. You will need to walk up and down the hill each time you go out to explore. You use a number code on a keypad to enter your room. Very clean, newly remodeled and nice toiletries. The church nearby does have a bell that rings on the hour. It starts at 8am and stops at 9pm. You can hear it in your room but it wasn't annoyingly loud. The room had a ceiling fan which was a nice bonus. There isn't an elevator so be sure to ask for a ground floor if you have problems with steps. I do wish there was a blanket in the room. The beds had sheets and a light quilt. Chad communicated with us before and after our stay. We spoke to him twice on property and he was very nice to us. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Room Tip: No elevator so ask for a ground floor to avoid stairs. May want to bring a blanket. Light quilt...

Our room needed a handyman and exterminator. On the plus side, the location is close to sights, shops, and restaurants. A decorated Christmas tree was in our room with a fireplace. We enjoyed that, of course. No key needed was also a plus. I think with a little TLC this place could be called a gem!

We stayed in the Windmill over the Labor Day weekend and loved it. A nice comfortable room at a nice price! We had plenty of safe parking plus everything was in walking distance. We had a blast and will return!

Very outdated. Pulled back the covers and there was hair, crumbs and dirt on the sheets, debris under table and couch on floor, terrible toiletries. No trash removal and 2 towels/washcloths for a 3 night stay. Pink tub grungy. It had a jacuzzi which we did not use. Room way overpriced for what you get. We have traveled a lot and this was by far the worst! Town is lovely. Alpine Cafe was great for breakfast and pizza. We also enjoyed Troll Tavern and Big Daddy’s. Local staff of restaurants were awesome.

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room #53 on the far right side of the property. The room was updated and really looked better than the chain hotels. Outside, there are two different sitting areas . It was nice sitting out when the sun went down. The hotel is right on the strip, making it convenient to walk to almost everything. The only downside of the room was that it only had two bench type seats for the table in the room. Two real chairs would be much more comfortable. The check-in process is a little different from most hotels. They send a code that is used to unlock the door. It was nice not to have to carry a key or a key card. We were told the room would be refreshed each day, but we had to call for new towels. The room is also pet friendly. There are grassy areas for your dog to do their business.

We’ve now stayed there 3 times, and I can’t imagine staying elsewhere. The Heidi is full of charm and character. This time we had to stay in a different room at first, as our usual windmill room would not be available until the next night. It was perfectly fine though. Our usual room presented some minor problems we hadn’t experienced before; one of which was a very lumpy and odd bed. A maintenance guy even took a look at it and couldn’t figure out the problem either. We were offered another room but of course didn’t do that, we just got used to the bed for a few more nights! The Heidi is a perfect home base for a trip to Helen and the area. We will probably always go back.

When we arrived at Helen we planned to stay at one of the newer hotels. But after reading the terrible reviews how the sheets were so dirty and seeing the great reviews on the little Heidi Windmill Motel we decided to stop and see if they had a last minute room left. To our surprise the owner had a room in the windmill with one queen bed and had a extra rollaway bed brought up for our 8 year old granddaughter. This turned out to be the highlight of our granddaughters vacation! She will never forget the great time she had staying in a windmill. This is all she talks about. And being able to walk next door and shop at the Jolly Toy Store. She loved sitting in the swing out front and watching all the people and horse and carriages. Another highlight was just walking across the street and playing with the outdoor kids games while her grandparents had a sandwich at the outside deli. And most of all was the lovely sweet family that went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a great stay in their motel.
