Nice hotel but they really need to improve the food and beverage department. We had a bad experience at the diner time. On the other hand Michael the young valet was amazing ⭐️ For a very good massage at their Solasta spa I will recommended Leanna.

Overall, my husband and I had a nice stay at Valhalla Resort Hotel! There are just a few things that we believe made our experience not worth the cost. I do want to add the disclaimer that we booked 3 days prior to Labor Day weekend so all that was left were Bungalows (~$400/night) or Villas. Here was our experience: Resort/Room/Staff: Finding the resort was very easy and it's an easy drive up. Every single staff member was extremely kind to us and helpful. We were greeted by Matt and he offered champagne for our check in. We were then directed to Bungalow 5, which had it's own parking spot a few steps away (vs. the hotel's valet). The room was very clean and we loved the view. Balconies are not private, you can see the two neighboring Bungalows' balconies. There was a safe and a mini-fridge. All items in the mini fridge and in that cabinet area (snacks), except two water bottles, were at an extra charge. There was also a coffee machine with sugar, creamer, etc. Wi-Fi: The guest wi-fi did not require a password as instructed and was extremely spotty regardless where we were in the resort. I had to use my cell data the entire time. Dining: The Caledonia restaurant was quaint, you wouldn't even realize it's near the check-in desk, and we LOVED the ribeye! We even returned a second time because my husband wanted a ribeye for himself. Waiters were extremely kind like all resort staff. The view from the outside deck is very nice. What we did not were three things: 1) Complimentary bread was not consistent from day 1 to day 2, cornbread was smaller and a bit burnt, 2) Any additional bread requested is at a $2 additional charge, 3) the second order of bread came when we were almost done with our dinner. This was a minor annoyance, our experience with their dining was still great overall. We cannot speak to Staghorn or Sky Bar since we did not go. Room-Service: I would say this was good, but needs some improvements. We decided to have breakfast in bed. We filled out the form as instructed on our arrival. Breakfast came in the morning at room temperature, no utensils, and I received coffee instead of the juice I requested. We luckily had utensils from the night before that we requested with our to-go box and we were in a bit of a rush to go to our hike so we were fine ignoring the food temperature and incorrect drink. I am sure this would have been remedied had we said something but for the price, I would think room service (which comes at an extra charge) would be superb. Resort's Hiking Trail: We loved the idea of the trail there but had to turn back halfway since it did not seem as though it was used often by guests. We assume this because we had plenty of run-ins with spider webs along the trail. Other Amenities/Services: Spa: We cannot speak to their spa since we did not have the chance to use their services. I had called to reserve the same day we booked the room and got on a waitlist for Sunday but never received a call back. I assume that means they had no cancellations. Gym: Did not use it but seemed limited. It's a small room with a few cardio machines. Aromatherapy Steam room: Unfortunately did not get to use this. Did not see clear instructions on if shoes were allowed, acceptable dress code, etc. We saw a sign about robes, but no robes were in sight. Pool: Did not use it but it was an adequate size and it was never packed when we'd pass by. Looks beautiful at night! Overall impressions: We really liked the resort and would recommend it. The staff is incredibly kind and they want to make your stay great. We would stay again but not at the price of the Bungalow (despite the extra privacy of being away from the resort). For the price of the Bungalow, we think the services we used, which were at an extra charge, should've been executed without a hitch and the wi-fi should've worked seamlessly also.

We visited Helen, GA in early August to celebrate my birthday with our daughter and her family. She had rented a condo in the Valhalla Resort. She wanted to take me to a German restaurant in town, but thankfully we read reviews and they were horrible. So, I suggested to go to the Valhalla Resort Hotel and that was one of the best decisions I made that day. We went to the Skybar. First, we were impressed by the view of the surrounding mountains, then by the waiter, Matthew and last but not least by the food. Fabulous! We enjoyed appetizers: smoked fish dip, Asian chicken wings and chicken liver with grits, that was everyone’s favorite. Entrees were trout, shrimp and grits, southern style pork chops, Caesar salad and the hamburger. We were lucky that day since we could choose from the Skybar menu as well as from the Caledonia Dining room menu. There was no complain at all, just praise for everyone and I hope the kitchen also heard about it. Matthew, the waiter, was very friendly, professional, and personable. He is a keeper. We will be back when we are again in the area. Marion Pena-Escobar

Valhalla is a hidden gem just outside of Helen, GA. From the moment we arrived we were treated with exceptional hospitality, including a welcome glass of champagne. The restaurant menu is simple and offers scrumptious, well-prepared dishes. The spa is quant and our services (facial and massages) were top notch. I highly recommend the skin brightening facial…it was wonderful! The sky bar and our bungalow had beautiful views of the Appalachian mountains. If you looking for a place to relax and recharge this place has everything you need. A special mention of the two, lovely gentlemen who welcomed us at the door every day (they were the sweetest), our waiter at dinner, my esthetician, the spa manager and the delightful owner who came and sat by us pool side to visit and make certain our stay was nothing less than perfect. We are disappointed we did stay longer for a round of golf and another day by the pool. We’ll be back!!

Went for an anniversary get away: Good points: Very Friendly staff Clean & comfortable rooms - bed was very comfortable Spa staff were wonderful - we had a couples massage - it was great Food was excellent - we had the filet and the grilled salmon Wine selection was excellent Bad points: -We asked for a romantic table or something quiet - got a table next to the restroom, bar, and door to the the patio - could not have a conversation over all the foot traffic going by -Our waitress could not recall all the specials - we had to hear from the table next to us as their waiter described them -Our waitress took a long time to get our drinks (its a very small restaurant) and our table was next to the bar - I could have reached over and got them -Our waitress was rushing to clear our plates and give us the check - this is my #1 pet peeve when dining out- I wanted to stay for an after dinner drink and dessert and perhaps a coffee but we were rushed out (this is one reason for the average rating despite all the good points of the resort) - The other reason for the average rating - we ordered breakfast room service (it was our anniversary and we wanted to have breakfast in bed) and it never showed up - we called down to both the front desk and room service - nobody would pick up the phone or call us back to give us an update after we left voice mail. We ordered room service in advance to come at 9 and at 11:00 we still had not received it nor had room service or the front desk call us back - we were starving at this point-so we checked out to eat in town. At checkout, the manager just said sorry- we are busy. There were no attempts to make amends, no offer to at least get us a table in the restaurant so we could eat (I wasn't asking for a free meal or anything - we were hungry and we just wanted to eat) - just sorry, we are really busy and that is the main reason for the average rating- very poor service for food.
