We stayed at Inn at Folkston for one night in the Lighthouse Room. The room was beautiful and the breakfast was also delicious. The owners made us feel very welcome and I recommend this location for a peaceful stay. Also you are in walking distance to the tracks to watch trains.
After 3 days on Amelia Island and 3 on Jekyll Island, we finished spring break with our last day in Folkston. It was quite different from our experience on the barrier Islands. Ted and Eliese are wonderful hosts and Folkston seemed to be taken out of central casting for an episode of the Andy Griffith show with a number of additional surprises. The Inn is walking distance from a great Thai restaurant. When we arrived at The Inn, Ted was performing a wedding ceremony. (We learned that Folkston is called the Vegas of the South because you can get a license at the courthouse and marry on the same day.) The following day we spent in the Okefenokee Swamp. It may have been the highlight of our vacation. Spectacular scenery only minutes away from The Inn. As much as I stay at Marriott hotels, you don’t feel the love that your experience at The Inn at Folkston. The less traveled road is definitely worth the trip.…
Took a road trip up to Georgia from Florida to visit the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and booked an overnight stay at this B&B in Folkston. Such a lovely inn with lovely proprietors. The rooms were super clean and well appointed. Delicious breakfast, farm to table from locals. Walking distance to quaint downtown. Thank you Ted & Alease!
We booked the Inn at Folkston after looking for places to stay near the Okefenokee for a family adventure. We were not disappointed!! Ted and Alease run a charming B&B right next to the little town center. Their hospitality was superb- from the delicious breakfast (served on sentimental Desert Rose dinnerware) to the clean and comfortable rooms. We had no idea about the Folkston Funnel nearby where you can watch trains to your heart’s content. Our two sons ages 6 and 8 felt right at home- almost like visiting their grandparents’- that’s how comfortable we were. What more can I say? Book a room here and support local businesses and real people. You will be glad you did.
I would definitely recommend the Inn at Folkston to experience life in a small town in the rural south, the train viewing platform of the Folkston Funnel, or to visit the nearby Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. The owners of the Inn, Ted and Alease, were so kind and made us feel very comfortable in their home. They were accommodating with our vegan diet and served us the most deliciously seasoned oatmeal with local fresh fruit. After breakfast they gave us the history of the Inn as well as a tour. We ate our dinner the night before on the beautiful and large front porch and enjoyed the sound of trains passing through town. The Inn was constructed of local wood, and the beautiful interior was completely finished with that same wood. Since they are located on Main St., it is an easy walk to the quaint and charming downtown Folkston, the train viewing platform, or to pick up a meal at the local Thai restaurant.…
