Our family were tent campers in wax myrtle site. It was really private as we were surrounded with palmettos. The sink with potable water and a nice wooden counter on both sides of sink made in very easy to wash dishes and fill water bottles as needed. Bathrooms were

Thank you for the honest review. I am sorry the check in time "stressed you out", it is not meant to, on our website it clearly states no check in's after 9pm and that is clearly after the office closes every day. We run on hours that are manageable and to keep the prices affordable, we could keep staff on duty 24/7 but the prices the public would pay would be much higher for all the sites or we would need to become a mega park and with that comesa lot of other issues as well as noise, crowding and a loss of the feeling of being in nature. Even though staff and owners are on site we all do need time off, do you not get days/time off? To be interrupted every time you are trying to eat, keep the campground, bath house or cabins clean, have staff meetings or have time off and provide as much flexibility to the customer as possible is the reason the office is open the hours that it is. As with all in life there are rules and hours of operation, in no way were you rushed or should have been stressed out as this is the email you received; Good afternoon, Thanks for choosing to stay with us at Pastimes. We noticed your ETA is 6pm. Our office closes at 4pm on Monday so you will need to call the office number 912-496-4472 when you are about 15 minutes away so we can have someone meet you in the office to check you in. Thanks again and safe travels!! Thanks, Michelle H. Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins, RV Park & Campground We send these emails out when check in's are after office closure so we can adjust our and our staffs off duty activities to be able to accommodate those after hours check ins. 9pm is the latest check in time for the Staff's as well as the comfort/respect of other guests, and later check ins are discouraged by a late fee as that seems to be the only dissuasion that seems to control "the pushing of the envelope" this is stated on our website and the reason we ask for a ETA and then send the informational email you received, it is not designed to stress people out, it in fact it is for the exact opposite effect. Being a life long camper I have always found it to be no fun to enter a foreign park, find a staff member and try and set up after dark. So the phone call assures a staff member to great the arrival, get the check in and set up done in a timely efficient manner. As far as the major thorough fare Hwy 121 is a 2 lane road and logging/landfill and goods traffic is a major contributor to the local economy and most truck traffic is done by 9pm but starts again around 5:30 am. Rt 1 is the overnight truck route, the noise on 121 has been magnified by an improper/ill conceived State road preservation project, we have been working with them to repair and deaden the sound, but as with all Govt dealings it is slow and cumbersome at best. For the nature sounds you "expected" as with all of nature it is on it's own schedule and those sounds are seasonal usually coinciding with mating, you were about a month late for those sounds and the owls are busy tending to their young now, so they too are hunting not courting. We are sorry you missed the sounds as they are truly wonderful, if it had rained during your stay you would have been treated to the chorus of the tree frogs, but then I am sure wet gear, clothing and not being able to enjoy the outdoors would have been the down side. Again thank you for your review, safe travels and thank you for choosing Pastimes for your stay. regards Dale H. - Owner

Visited in the off-season. Rented a "basic Cabin" for one night. Check their website for pictures of various cabins they have. Cabin was super clean, parked right out front. Had my own picnic table and fire ring, which I put to use for roasting marshmallows later that night.

Great location, directly across the street from the entrance to the Okenfenokee NWR. People are friendly. They have an activity room with books and movies. We stayed in a cabin, which was nice...the TV was small, no stereo but functional. The bed was comfortable, and the fridge

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am sorry that the Staff did not let you know that there is a stereo/alarm clock in every cabin, I will be sure to address that with them. Tv's are sized to fit in the allotted space within the cabin without being cumbersome yet provide a way to stay up on current weather/news. We are glad to hear the bed was comfortable and the location was the best. We value all feedback as it helps to plan new amenities and the customers expectations so we can try and meet them. We wish you safe travels and many more great adventures. Regards Dale & Michelle Hazzard & all the Staff of Pastimes

Small but nice facilities. Easy pull through sites. Helpful hosts! Close to GA highway so there is some traffic overnight, but not terrible. Unfortunately there were 2 neighbors, further back off the road from the RV park, that had numerous hunting dogs that did some barking. It

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the State did a paving preservation project using the wrong technique and has magnified the sound of all traffic using the road as well as it is unusually high active logging season. We are trying to get them to do something with it and hopefully this summer they will, as it wears off naturally it is becoming less noticeable. As far as the Hunting dogs it is a way of life in South GA they are noticeably more active at this time of year as hunting season is just winding down or when a stray animal wanders by and at this time there are a lot of wayward hunting dogs roaming around looking for their owners. With warmer weather it coincides with using a fan and is usually unnoticeable with just a little background noise. Safe travels and continue enjoying all the wonders of this great Country.
