Absolutely love it! Staff is excellent and so friendly. Grace is extremely helpful. Million dollar views. Can't wait to get back in the spring! So many great sites to choose from. Nice playground and washrooms. This prettiest place we have camped.

Old federal campground is 45 minutes outside of Atlanta. Very beautiful spot to relax and enjoy beautiful views and company. Campground staff is very polite and very knowledgeable of surrounding areas. I would visit this facility more often did to View, relaxation, and good company.

You can get nice lake views from other campgrounds without the hassles of this place. On check-in we were told that we can’t have our golf cart since it isn’t tagged. In GA you don’t tag a golf cart. Our out of state family did have license tags for theirs & were still told their carts weren’t allowed. But the... More

First, the grounds are beautiful. The facilities are average at best. The camp hosts are elderly, not family friendly. The "federal park rangers" WILL cite you for anything for anything they can. Even 1 tire on the grass. However it is ok to let your small dogs off leash and poop wherever they like unenforced. The host will creep by... More

Amazing sites for our small RV. We were perched right above the lake and could hear the water lapping at the shore. Water/electric only with 20/30/50 amp plus tent sites. The sites are large, shaded and most with concrete pads. Numerous water activities available

A very nice quiet campground, with plenty of space between the camping pads, and with some real distance away from most the RV sites. As another reviewer has said, this is very high-value real estate, and most sites are waterfront. If it is rainy weather you may want to cover your firepit. The firepits fill up with water, so you... We have stayed at this Corps of Engineers campground close to a dozen times because we have family in the area. We live in our 40' diesel pusher coach, and although there is no sewer hookup we choose to stay here every time. True, you aren't able to stay longer than 2 weeks at a time; but those 2 weeks... We have a boat at Lake Lanier and keep our camper about one mile outside the gates of Old Federal Campground. We spend many weekends during the summer here. We are experienced campers (15 years) and experienced travelers for business and pleasure. Old Federal is run by the U.S. Government (Corp. of Engineers). The two couples that man the office... We stayed at this campground for the first time in May 2011. We stayed 3 nights and are anxious to return. Nearly every site is waterfront. We have a 29 ft travel trailer that fit beautifully. Plenty of space between sites, although you are not secluded. The views were spectacular. May was a wonderful month to stay as the weather... More
