Playa Tranquilo is a Boutique Hotel that is separated into three luxurious options, on four lush acres of sea front property - The House, the Apartment and the Hotel (currently under renovation). Unlike other hotels, our goal is to custom tailor a uniquely fabulous experience for each and every guest. If you choose the House or the Apartment, you will be the only guests in that residence. As a guest of our Hotel, you will feel equally secluded. Our guests prefer staying with us because they feel like they are staying at an exclusive residence on the island, and not a suffocating resort. Our property is nestled on the less developed side of San Andres, a short 15 minutes from the city center/airport. Playa Tranquilo is an island of tranquility unto itself. Whether you are interested in scuba diving, lounging by the pool, touring the islands, having a chef prepare all of your meals, popping into the sea directly outside our gate or just settling into a hammock to enjoy the sunset with an aperitif - we have it all and would be more than happy to customize your time (see services page) at Playa Tranquilo. You can be as spoiled, or as self-sufficient as you like in this idyllic setting.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel for your stay on San Andres. The pool and grounds are beautiful, it's right across from the ocean (no beach, but very pretty) and the staff will help you get set up with a scooter to take you anywhere you'd like to go on the small island. They also provide breakfast, snorkeling and scuba certification/tours/equipment - we had everything we needed during our stay.
What really set this hotel apart from anywhere else I've stayed, though, is the amazing service. I accidentally left my cell phone near the office reception when I left, and they followed up with me to have it sent back to Canada. Because the postal system in Colombia is not very reliable, they were unable to mail it. So they held onto my phone for SIX months until another Canadian stayed at the hotel and agreed to bring it back for me. This was really above and beyond what most hotels would do - I had pretty much assumed I'd never see my phone again - but they persisted and kept it safe for me until they found a way to get it back to me in Canada. I was so impressed, and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a down to earth and friendly experience in a remote and beautiful place.

Our stay at Playa Tranquilo was definitely the best decision we made for our time in San Andres. Its a lovely place a bit outside of the bustling town. Its quiet, clean and with love for the detail. The hosts are very kind, always eager to help or giving information and tips about the island.

We had the room with the shared bathroom, which was no problem at all and so we got to discover and enjoy the fabulous outdoor showers with sea-view. The rooms are clean, well equipped with aircon, fridge, etc and beautiful terrace.

They also run a dive center, which is how you would wish a dive center to be. We dived in small groups (which is not common practice in San Andres) to lovely places. They have an excellent knowledge of the island and its spots and you feel that its their passion too.

In case we come back to San Andres, we will definitely repeat with them.

This hotel was such a find. One of my girlfriends recommended it so we took her advise and I am glad we did. It is such a quaint bed and breakfast! There are several different room choices for everyone which is nice. The rooms are spacious, clean, and air conditioned. Breakfast is prepared fresh every morning. The pool is inviting and perfect to cool off from the hot weather. And the reason to go is to scuba dive. The owner Moises is absolutely amazing. He helps plan and organize scuba trips, is a great teacher, and really knows how to calm anxious divers down. He went out of his way to make sure our trip was perfect and we did three dives with him. We will definitely stay here again! Oh and there is wifi which is a plus.

Most amazing hotel I've ever stayed at--truly earns its name of "Tranquil!" Beautiful views, comfortable, spacious rooms, and amazing staff. Moises, the owner, was amazing with helping us plan our activities while we were there--from calling and making restaurant reservations for us, to booking our day trip on a boat and subsequently driving down with us into town to help us find the spot, to overall being an amazing host--you really feel like you're staying more with family at a really nice beach house versus a random guest at a hotel. The pool is beautiful and perfect for a swim or to lounge by, and the ocean is literally across the road (as in, 20 feet from your room) if you want to snorkel or take a scuba diving excursion with Moises (he teaches classes where you go straight from learning/practicing in the pool to walking across the road to go explore the oceans of San Andres--highly recommend it!) I couldn't have asked for a better stay--felt so taken care of, and relaxed. Can't beat the view from your room, either! We stayed in the cabanas (standard double room through booking.com) and had plenty of space for the two of us. The bathrooms are separate for the cabana rooms and shared with the other two, but they are kept super clean and we were the only ones in that part of the hotel when we were there, so it wasn't an issue at all. The showers are outdoors which is amazing! Overall a great stay and can't wait to go back again. Literally the only "drawback" is that you have to take cabs everywhere (or rent a car--you can rent golf carts to go around the island in) because it's not walking distance from "downtown" but we wanted somewhere quieter and it was totally worth it in the end.

Playa Tranquilo is a very quiet B&B on busy San Andres island. The rooms are located in 3 small houses spread around a big garden. There is even a swimming pool if you do not feel like walking the 20 meters to swim in the sea (no beach but a very convenient sea access with a ladder and good snorkelling with a ship wreck at close distance). The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served on the terrace and includes fresh fruits, eggs, pancakes and more. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Lots of people come here to dive as the hotel has a very professional dive centre.
But the best about Playa Tranquilo are the people who work there and more specifically the owner, Moises. During our stay my husband opened his foot quite badly on a coral. Moises took us to the pharmacy and then to the clinic. He waited until my husband got some care and brought us back to the hotel. He drove us to the restaurant because we could not walk. This was really nice and for him it went without saying. Thanks again Moises!

NB: you may want to rent a scooter in order to move around more easily on the island. Otherwise Moises can organise a nice taxi to drive you back and forth. And there are always some nice guests or neighbours ready to share their taxi or scooter with you as well.

On our arrival, they said to us; it's our purpose to make you feel at home. And the staff did just that! Lovely, helpfull people, delicious breakfast, beautiful surroundings and, because we were the only guests for most of the time, a private pool. What more can you ask for? It's not close to the center and it has no beach, but you can rent a golfcart or scooter and discover the whole island that way. So if you are looking for a place were you can relax, there's no better place to do it than here!

Playa Tranquilo definitely stands apart from everything else San Andres has to offer, it's a secluded private place where service and personal attention is top notch, the rooms where spacious with all the amenities for a comfortable stay.

The people there where excellente very attentive and more than helpfull to arrange anything you need, as a bonus Moises the owner is a certified diving instructor, making it The Place to receive scuba lessons, with a great diving spot right in front a the hotel.

So i will definitely recomend this over anything out there, sure it is far away from the central area, but still it is super easy to arrange any form of transportation to check out the rest of the island, but at the end of the day if your purpose is rest and relaxation this is for you.

After 2 weeks in Playa Tranquilo--we stayed in both the house and the cabanas at one time or another during our stay--my wife and I now use the word "Tranquilo!" the way most people use the word "great!" Come here and you will forget every care you've ever had. The amazing staff work overtime--literally!--for their guests' comfort and joy, and the accommodations are gorgeous, sumptuous, nonpareil. THIS is the place to go. End of story.

Playa tranquilo is a little piece of paradise in San Andres. I think than a hotel, staying here is an experience. it was relaxing, chill and full of nice moments. The facilities are great, the rooms are comfortable and ample. The pool and the surrounding thai/Buddhist ambiance is awesome. Moises and his crew are great hosts. They will make sure to arrange trips, cabs, meals at the hotels and all other activities. On top of that, you can have all the snorkeling you like in front of the hotel. The icing on the cake: Spakry. The cutest dog ever.

this is a great haven to scape from the touristy activities in San Andres. If you want to go out for dinner, Moises will get you good recommendations.

I really appreciate all the care the Moises took of us during the trip, and we hope to go back to San Andres and Playa tranquilo again !

Hotel is located on the side of San Andres where there is no beach, just sharp rocks and waters edge, if your after an island stay please stay on the other side rocky cay is one of the best beaches there is, back to the hotel the staff where very friendly especially the lady at reception! the breakfast was very good they cook you what you want egg's pancakes ect, there are the cheaper rooms at the front which looked very nice with good water views but i dont think they had privated bathroom/showers???.. we stay in the rooms up the back with the kitchen in the middle.

The hotel offerd dives, moto rental (which is essential to get anywhere) but is much much cheaper from the centre(about half the price) reccommend getting a bus to the centre and renting a moto or kart if you are on a budget they cost about $60000 cop a day

all in all a good hotel for a reasonable price but if your looking for an island stay with sand deffinatly not the place for you stay on the other side even the centre.
