Playa Tranquilo is a Boutique Hotel that is separated into three luxurious options, on four lush acres of sea front property - The House, the Apartment and the Hotel (currently under renovation). Unlike other hotels, our goal is to custom tailor a uniquely fabulous experience for each and every guest. If you choose the House or the Apartment, you will be the only guests in that residence. As a guest of our Hotel, you will feel equally secluded. Our guests prefer staying with us because they feel like they are staying at an exclusive residence on the island, and not a suffocating resort. Our property is nestled on the less developed side of San Andres, a short 15 minutes from the city center/airport. Playa Tranquilo is an island of tranquility unto itself. Whether you are interested in scuba diving, lounging by the pool, touring the islands, having a chef prepare all of your meals, popping into the sea directly outside our gate or just settling into a hammock to enjoy the sunset with an aperitif - we have it all and would be more than happy to customize your time (see services page) at Playa Tranquilo. You can be as spoiled, or as self-sufficient as you like in this idyllic setting.

We had a great stay at Playa Tranquilo. The staff are super helpful, keep the place sparkling clean, and serve a delicious breakfast. Mo helped us with all kinds of requests throughout our stay and even took us on two great dives. If you plan to stay here, make sure you have a good plan for transportation (especially at night) because the buses don't come by too often and there is not really anywhere to eat nearby. Other than that, we had a very nice stay and I would definitely recommend Playa Tranquilo to others.

I read Tripadvisor's reviews and found some people said this hotel was located at remote location but was quite (tranquil). I book two rooms for three nights there. It was sure very remote; far from the town center and the most colorful beaches. More importantly it's far away from the airport and tour starting ports! Our rooms were in the back of the property. But even so, we were waken up by the traffic (public buses) which started in the very early morning. There was also load dog barking in the neighborhood. So we decided to check out on the second day and go to the town center for the rest of our two nights in San Andres. Most hotels where we traveled to allowed early check out, but not this one. We paid the full amount upfront when we checked in on the first day. The front desk refused to refund for the two nights when we were not there. When we arrived to San Andres, we had to wait for long time to find a taxi which would take guests to such place. Be prepared, it will cost you $30-35 (and long time) to and from that hotel. Therefore, I would advise you to stay away from this place, where there is not hot water for showers!

After we searched for accomodation on San Andres online for three hours, we finally found Playa Tranquilo. It couldn't have been better! Nice swimming pool, colorful little lizards walking by, very soft and big bed (superior queen) and great tropical garden. The hotel has scooters for rent, for about 45 Cad dollars a day..good price, and easy way to go around the island, as the hotel is located on a more quiet part of San Andres. Beautiful sunset right at the entrance of the hotel and nice staff! You become very 'tranquilo' here! Recommended for sure!

We stayed at Playa Tranquilo for 4 nights (initially booked 3 but decided to stay an extra night after our stay) and loved it! We stayed at the house with the kitchen which was very beautiful and cozy. We cooked daily which was a great way to save money. Other than the friendly, cozy and very relaxing atmosphere, the highlight was Isaias the dive master! Isaias took us on some of the most beautiful dives and made sure we had a great experience. If you are a beginner or advanced diver, you will absolutely have some of the best dives. For those of you who don't like being on boats (like me), it's offshore diving which makes it even better!

My friend and I spent 3 nights at Tranquilo and we enjoyed it. The deluxe room was like a bungalow, very spacious, with a safe for your valuables. We enjoyed reading in the hammock by the pool and admiring the gardens. There are blue lizards and some birdlife. We did a bit of snorkeling close to shore, but we didn't get instructions on where to go so I didn't see the shipwreck or reefs. The owner and Nina were helpful and charming. There are a few things that were not great. Our shower had no pressure, so we showered in the outdoor shower instead (no big deal). The internet didn't really work. The toilet was a bit finicky. All the restaurants outside of town close at 4PM, so you will need to arrive with some groceries (no market nearby). That was really the big minus because we needed some planning for dinners and had no choice to go back to town with taxis. The buses have very complicated routes and a not so straight-forward system. I would recommend staying at Tranquilo towards the end of your trip, once you are more familiar with the island.
