Average hotel. Lower quality. Suffers from maintenance and upkeep issues. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was better than most other bagged or "to go" breakfasts . Smoke alarm was broke, mold in tub, and the in room coffee maker was dirty.

It's mid-summer and hot. We had issues with the air conditioning. The desk clerk went out of her way to offer new rooms, if needed.

A maintenance man came to our room and did a temporary fix and the room was comfortable.

The manager took care of us.

We would stay here again.

Spent two nights here this week. Great location , on the lakes, great views from all lakeside room. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location also to shopping and restaurants.
Thee downside, hotel needs Major renovations inside and out. Outside of building needs power wash and paint, lots of green algae and mold. Inside, rooms and commons areas old and musty . Many broken tiles in our bathroom, shower and counter tops have patched and sealed with caulking many times, shower stall needs to be ripped out and replaced.
Breakfast in morning, very basic, bagels, cereal, serve yourself or take out, Covid has affected food at all hotels. Room seemed “clean” enough, just hard to mask the Age of everything.

I've read recent reviews and agree with the folks who enjoyed their experience at the Lodge. I'm also thankful to the folks who hated the place and will never stay there again because that means more rooms available.

Several buddies and I stay at the Lodge every Spring when the crappie are biting on Oconee. Our rooms are ALWAYS hospital-grade clean, the giant urn of fresh coffee is always excellent no matter the time of day, the parking lot hookup services (to recharge boat batteries) come in VERY handy, the breakfast offerings are abundant and delicious, and the Staff is always top notch, in our experience.

Especially Angel, who in April 2019 was the night shift Manager. She went out of her way to ensure that the lodge's guests were completely comfortable and satisfied. For just one example, she made a rubber bathtub mat appear almost instantaneously after a guest requested one.

Sure hope that sweet Angel will be there when we visit the Lodge in April 2020.

Awesome and beautiful family vacation resort. So much to do for the kids and adults. We encountered a few negatives with air conditioning in room at night( they shut it down and you have to ask them to bypass it). Didn’t find this out until last night….club lounge staff was difficult to deal with when asking for appropriate food for small children. There was nothing except PBJ crustables for kids.
Club manager Teresa was wonderful upon our arrival but she went on vacation the next day and club staff was not friendly except for Ashlee who happened to be the sweetest person there.
Pool staff not up to par and we had to look for them. No staff on beach at lake. Overall the rest was great….the extra money we spent (and it was $$$$) for club lounge should have produced better results for us and others who were also complaining.
Would I go back? The answer is yes!

Stayed here 2 nites in sept 2021 and not impressed at all. Wknd rate $50 more than $109 wk day rate. No hot breakfast only take out stuff . Water from a/c above drips on you at side entrance. Folks and workers from area party in parking lot & use the dock area to barbecue. Room just ok & a/c cycles off and on constantly. Not worth the $109 week rate or the $159 wknd rate. Limited hotels in area allow this outrageous rate. This place lacks quality and don't pay for lakeside room cause you can barely see it.

My room was prepaid through Expedia, but the hotel improperly charged my card $115. I called them, and they admitted their error, but they couldn’t issue a refund because the manager wasn’t there. They want me to track down the manager in order to get a refund. Awful customer service. The property is in a great location, but it is not nice by any standard. It’s 2* property combined with the terrible customer service, and I would advise you to look elsewhere.

Terrible place to stay. The desk clerk was rude and extremely unhelpful. Not what we expect of "Southern Hospitality". The room felt dirty and was in poor repair. The bathrooms need to be remodeled. The Smoke alarm in our daughter's room beeped all night and the desk clerk said there was nothing she could do because she couldn't find a battery. There seemed to be no 24hr service person to call in case of emergencies. We checked our own room for a battery and our room's smoke alarm didn't even have a battery. We were very happy to be leaving after just one night.

Room Tip: Go up the road to the Tru Hilton instead, it's much better. We've stayed at both.

6 different hotel guest were told by hotel employees where they could park. The hotel shares a parking lot with a CLOSED down restaurant. However, Shawn allowed these vehicles to be towed because the owner of the CLOSED down restaurant called a tow truck and had all 6 vehicles towed. (Some had boat trailers hooked to them.) Shawn, the manager of The Lodge on Lake Oconee is the rudest & most arrogant person I have ever dealt with in the hospitality business. After reading reviews about this manager on facebook, I do not understand why the owner of this hotel has not already taken care of this problem. I will never stay here again and will make sure that all my friends and family know not to stay at this hotel.
Shawn actually told a guest this morning that he could have them towed because he didn't like the way they had their truck & boat trailer parked in the hotel parking lot!!! What the heck! You are a hotel on the lake & you tow vehicles with boat trailers!?!?!?!

The place is a dive and should be half the price.

1. Bath tub gross
2. The free breakfast you could not giveaway. The coffee is brown water.
3. The hotel is “No smoking facilities” and you should be given a pack of cigarettes at check-in to tolerate the dump. There is a fire pit at the water and your can start a fire but not smoke anything?
4. Sauna in gym broke, hot tube broke, tv gym broke, tv in breakfast area broke, over all hotel facilities and accommodation broke.
5. Gym a closet, and terrible.

Guess a 2 star hotel is this, but very disappointing and only put this post to warn others. Location is why I picked this hotel, which is great but would have drove further after seeing this place in person. If I brought a significant other we would of left.
