Detailed Reviews
We had our wedding here in December 2019 and overall loved that aspect of it! We specifically held our wedding at the Legacy Lookout venue, and it's stunning. Deniese is wonderful to work with. She's worked there a long time and is very knowledgeable about weddings at the resort. We were able to have our engagement pictures taken there, as well, since we were having our wedding there. There are a variety of beautiful spots on the resort to take pictures, which is really great.
The only complaint we have has to do with the lodging. The lodging on site is outrageously expensive. The condos and houses are nice in appearance, amenities, and views, but they are not kept clean at all. Several guests mentioned the floors had not been cleaned in what seemed to be a very long time. Booking requires a 2-night minimum stay, which forced many of our guests to stay elsewhere (the closest hotels being 20ish minutes away). There really is no such thing as a "block" of rooms available for you - they don't provide much (if any) of a discount, and contractually obligate you to pay for the rooms regardless if they're booked. It ended up being a better option to opt out of the "block" and encourage our guests to book online, which has a much more reasonable cancellation policy. Our families booked both houses on site. Oriole Lodge had NO heat the entire weekend. Given what we paid and the fact that it was December, this was a major disappointment and inconvenience for our family.
I truly hope Foxhall has plans to improve the lodging aspect of their resort. As I said, the wedding aspect of Foxhall is wonderful, and it's no surprise they hold multiple weddings every weekend. But the improvement of their lodging facilities is definitely much needed.

My family of 6 (4 kids under 13) booked this stay last minute and arrived knowing nothing about the property, but with low expectations. I am so happy to say that we had such an amazing time. We rode the ATVs, shot clay pigeons, rode horses twice, rented fishing poles (and caught over 20 fish), had a leisurely game of giant outdoor chess and took out some boats on the lake. It was an action packed weekend and felt like we really had a long (covid safe!) vacation at a ranch. The restaurant was another surprise as we found all the food really good, especially the local quail. Our 3 bedroom "villa" was clean and chic and had gorgeous views of the little lake. This is definitely not a full service resort (almost like staying at an upscale condo association), and it is still a work in progress (roads are being built, etc...) but as far as our experience, it could not have been better. The only true negative of the property is that it is understaffed. There needs to be more help in the restaurant (although it didn't affect us, I could tell the waitress was having to run all night) and there needs to be someone who is emptying trash cans and cleaning up after guests around the property. I hope that since the clubhouse was just built that this property will sort these things out and continue on an upward trajectory. All in all, my 13 year old summed it up when he said it was the coolest place we've ever stayed.

So excited that I stumbled upon the Foxhall Resort when planning a trip to visit my fiance's children and grandchildren in Douglasville,GA! The rooms were stunning and felt like we were in a home setting instead of a hotel room, the food at The Paddock Resturant was amazing (Especially the brussel sprout appetizer!), the view, the amenities were all just amazing! It was there slow season so some of the usual accomodations, like the contenintal breakfast, was unavailable but it was understandable. We will definitley be returning and planning a longer stay this time. I highly recommend a getaway at the Foxhall Resort! <3

We recently stayed at Foxhall to attend a wedding over a long weekend. We were greatly anticipating our stay as we had not had the opportunity to travel this past summer. Our expectations were admittedly high based on the cost of our room at $600 per night for one of the 2 bedroom Villas (all that was available at the time of booking). Unfortunately at the time we booked our flight, no cars were available at the airport for rental, when I phoned the resort to ask about a shuttle from the airport they did indicate that there was not a shuttle but Amanda at the front desk was very helpful in recommending the White Glove car service and we booked with them. White Glove and the owner Ken were nothing short of exceptional and I can highly recommend them. When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff and we checked into our room (charged $50 for early check in before 4 PM, even though our villa was completely ready for us). The villa was nice, but had two lights with burnout lightbulbs, the half-bath had no towels, and the lower level had multiple paint chips and large scuff marks on the walls (not what we had expected for $600 a night). The villa was however clean. We had a dinner reservation at 7:30 in the restaurant at the resort, after taking our drink order the waitress, who throughout our entire dining experience referred to us in "woke" terms (which neither of us appreciated) announced that 2 of the 3 entrées they had that evening were no longer available, the chicken was available or we could order a salad or sandwich. Not exactly what we had expected at 7:30 PM! I ordered the chicken, my wife ordered a beet salad, my chicken was as close to inedible as possible, completely burnt, my wife's beet salad had a 3 small pieces of beet. The following morning we went down for breakfast, the restaurant appeared to be closed, we asked one of the staff about getting breakfast at the restaurant and they told us that the resort does not serve breakfast and we could purchase food items like cereals and milk at the convenience store attached to the resort. Again, not what we had expected! I asked the staff at the front desk if they had a car that could take us some place for breakfast and they indicated that the resort does not have a courtesy vehicle for transporting guests. My son and I did go on an ATV tour of the property, the property is beautiful, the guide that took us on the ATV tour was very good. The wedding at the "stables" was beautiful, the setting for the reception was very nice, and the food which I believe was catered from outside the resort was spectacular. I had not intended on writing this review, however several days after we returned home I received an email from the resort asking for a review of our stay. I provided them with exactly the same review that I have done here and concluded the review by telling them that my intent of the review was to hopefully bring these things to their attention in hopes that going forward other guests would not have the same experience. I had expected that minimally I would have received a thank you for calling these things to their attention and possibly an apology for the shortcomings. I have course received no response to my email reply to their request for a review. Disappointing!

Foxhall overcharged me $900.The employee who did not know correct rates enforced a full 2 night stay and 600 a night & I later found out our neighbor was able to do one night half the rate. Employee is not there anymore to poor performance I would guess. Front desk person I worked with admitted that it was their fault. The manager would not get on the phone with me and kept speaking through employees. Even thought their employee was in the wrong and I brought it to light they were persistent that I agreed to that rate and it was locked in. What am I going to do coming from out of town for my family's wedding??? Also, I try to do activities while I am there but due to covid was unable to do so. What is that 600 actually going to???

When I made the reservation the person I spoke with was short and not willing to help give me any information concerning possible restaurant choices in the area. When we arrived checking in at 5:30 took a very long time....the receptionist was more concerned with straightening out a room mix up on the computer than helping the people that were waiting to check in. Check in time is 4:00! I understand everyone is short staffed these days so they got a pass on that. With that being said, she was very sweet. When we made the reservation we were not told that the restaurant and the bar would not be open due to a wedding being held there. Now about the property....which is beautiful! The room was clean BUT the toilet paper holder was barely on the wall and the towel rack was totally off the wall and under the sink. To get ice you had to go back to the checkin area.
The railing going down to the cottages was in pieces on one side. The air conditioner was set to only go to 68 degrees and we like it cold for sleeping. And the TV volume was set so low we could barely hear it....but you could hear the people around you! This could be a lovely place with a little money and time put into it. For the price, it is not worth it!

We are here for a wedding. We booked and prepaid, MONTHS ago and I believe that we’ve taken up most, if not all the resort. So it was ALL prepaid and they knew how many people were coming. They have been under staffed, have not had basics in the rooms (basic linens- like towels, coffee), rooms have been hours late for check in. It’s just been one thing after another. We have several friends who were hours late getting into their room. One showed up at 9:30am as they are part of the wedding and their room was not ready until after the rehearsal dinner (8pm).
We had pretty good food on Thursday and Friday at the resort dining room, but the service is very slow. Today, food was not good and the service worse- they also put a 20%service charge on the bill. I know the staff here is trying, but there should have been more staff on site.
We walked the beautiful property to one of the empty venues on Friday morning, and you could tell that basic trash had not been taken out since??
We have a 2 room villa (4 people). It has a full kitchen. Couldn’t find that information on the website (just said kitchenette). So that’s nice- full refrigerator, stove, oven and microwave. The property, if we’ll run, would be great, but it’s not.
I’m praying the wedding and reception is beautiful and without a hitch, but honestly I don’t have hope. Will continue this dialogue after we check out.

My husband and I brought our newborn baby and dog to Foxhall for a relaxing getaway from the COVID craziness. With a newborn, we have been extra careful about COVID and have rarely left our house. Foxhall offered us the opportunity to safely escape and be outdoors, while maintaining social distancing and comfortable space. We stayed in the villas by the clubhouse. We were able to enjoy many walks and outdoor activities. We also felt completely safe eating at Pheasant Blue. We ate there almost every night it was open! The beautiful outdoor patio felt safe and the food and service was phenomenal. Not to mention that the view was unbeatable - overlooking the infinity pool into the lake, watching the leaves change colors, and the weather was perfect. During the day, we preferred picnics by the lake (so our dog could be with us and enjoy), but we did have two brunch/lunch meals at the restaurant that were equally as good as dinner. My only complaint is that we had to leave!

We were there for a wedding which was great but everything else was awful. I own a restaurant and realize I occasionally get negative reviews so I seldom write reviews for other places. With that said people need to be warned about this place. First of all there is absolutely no way to get around. This resort is located on hundreds of acres but they have no shuttles to get anywhere. We took a cab from the airport so we had no means of transportation within the resort and it was impossible to walk. Most of the roads are dirt and it was really far to the wedding and rehearsal dinner venues. Fortunately the parents of the wedding rented one shuttle which took people back and forth to the parties. The night of the rehearsal dinner at least 100 people came back to the clubhouse and there was only one bartender. She did a great job but I felt sorry for her. The day of the wedding we had nowhere to go except the clubhouse because we didn’t have transportation. They don’t serve breakfast so you have to wait until lunch which begins at 11:30. At 11:00 we ordered Bloody Mary’s and by 11:30 they ran out of the mix. We ordered lunch from a very scarce menu and they were out of several things. Later at the pool they ran out of beer and hamburgers. Whoever is their food and beverage manager should be fired. We paid a resort fee but there was nothing to do. There was a corporate event that same weekend and anyone in our party who had made a reservation for an activity got cancelled. We planned to go kayaking but couldn’t get to the lake because it was too far of a walk but I learned later that all of the kayaks were held for the corporate event. And lastly-don’t plan to go with anyone who has mobility problems. It is not the least bit handicapped accessible. When we received our room number I asked the girl checking us in if there was an elevator. She said we didn’t need one because we were on the first floor. There was no shuttle or help to get us to the villa so we had to walk and we discovered that there were many steps to get to where we were staying. We are both seniors and had to carry our luggage down the steps to get to our room. The room was ok but that was about the only good thing. I would not recommend this as a wedding venue or anything else unless you like to be in the middle of nowhere and enjoy hiking. Otherwise, stay home and save your money!!

Thank-you Kitchayre for your comments. The beauty of the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club is the 1100 acres of beautiful views and vistas found only in western Georgia. The past year has been trying for everyone and we understand your frustration with the resort. My committment is to achieve 100% satisfaction as we are hiring additional staff and increasing the hours of our food and beverage outlets to meet this unprecedented increase in demand. Our guests satisfaction is very important to the Foxhall Resort and we are committed to meet the expectations our guests have come to expect. Although we didn't meet your expectations, the bride did comment on how wonder both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception was executed and for that we are thankful she and groom were satisfied. We trust you have an opportunity to visit us in the near future where we have an opportunity to demonstrate the full Foxhall Resort Experience. Safe Travels and thank-you for your comments. Bob

We tried to cancel our reservation and we were told that we were not allowed to. They said their cancellation policy was 30 days out and it was 31 days before the reservation. We continue to call back and they would not answer their phone or would they return any of our phone calls. I immediately called American Express to dispute the charge. They lied to American Express and said that it was two days later than the actual date I tried to cancel. Thank God American Express was able to look back on the day that I disputed the charge and now knows that they lied to them. I don’t know how people like this live with themselves.
