We stayed here a couple of times before when the Inn was in the old warehouse by Skipper's Fish Camp. This was our first time in the new building a little further down the street. JoAnne & David did a very impressive job designing and decorating a marvelous B&B. There are five rooms in total and we stayed in the very comfortable Ocean's Treasure room and felt like we were home after a long drive from Southern Florida. We experienced a mechanical problem with our car just before we got to Darien on a Sunday afternoon. David was fantastic! He went above and beyond to help and our mechanical issue was rectified so we could be on our way early Monday morning. The room we had opened up to a huge balcony with lounge chairs and couches that were shared across the three second story rooms. The other two rooms on the main floor had porches. All rooms have outstanding views of the Darien River and marshes. The bath towels were very large, fluffy and comfortable making taking a shower a true pleasure. The bedding was firm and very comfortable making it difficult to go downstairs for breakfast. We were treated to a great tasting breakfast and the best coffee we've had in a long, long time.

We aren't really B&B type people but this B&B is pure heaven for us. We'll certainly be back again and again.

The Waterfront Inn owners, Dave and JoAnn get a lot of things right. This 5 bedroom inn with a view from a ridge across a marshland provides a quiet comfortable getaway. Rooms are smallish, comfortable opening onto a large porch with seating to contemplate the day. Plush large towels, good beds and pillows make the difference in this quiet street in this historic village dating 1736. The surprise for us, seated on the porch seeing a Bobcat slink out of the bush and stretch out in the late afternoon sun. Rarely observed.
A solid breakfast can set you on an exploration of the Altamaha waterfront packed with shrimp fishing boats, the primary economic endeavor of the community. Nearby is an old fort site that dates the original settlement of Georgia, where the reconstructed fort is well worth seeing. About 4 miles south of town is the Hofwyl Plantation of early 19th century with museum and house and grounds tours that will remind you of Mount Vernon. Darien is also a launching point to explore Sapelo Island, a place rich in history predating the Civil War and subsequent ownership by RJ Reynolds to now a research facility for coastal marshes .
A day is not done until you take lunch or dinner at B& J's where it is probable you will taste the best shrimp and hush puppies you have ever eaten.

This new, spic-n-span B and B is perfect for folks who might feel oppressed by chintz and tchotchkes, It is airy and light, in keeping with its beautiful surroundings. The porch, overlooking the marsh and river, is lovely. You couldn't ask for better hosts. And the beds are just wonderful. I had the best sleep in weeks.

I needed a place to get away to work on a project. Sight unseen, I contacted the owners through their website. JoAnn was remarkably responsive to my questions, and I ended up booking 4 nights. I was absolutely not disappointed.

JoAnn and David are diligent about keeping the inn clean and sanitized. They are clearly concerned with providing a comfortable, relaxing, and safe space for their guests.

My room was so comfortable and peaceful. Even though the inn was busy with many rooms booked during the week of my stay, the house is so well insulated, I hardly knew there was anyone else in the house.

JoAnn and David are some of the most hospitable people I've ever met. Even though they were usually busy, they were always willing to stop and chat for a moment, to check to see if I needed anything, and to recommend local unique places for me to visit.

When I would visit local shops and restaurants and mention I was staying at the Waterfront Inn, it was obvious that JoAnn and David have a great reputation in the community- everyone spoke very highly of them. The passion they have for their home and business radiates from them in all that they do.

The bed was comfortable, the porch view was peaceful, and the breakfasts were delicious and generous! This was a place I hated to leave. I can't wait to go back and visit again.

I almost hesitate to review these accommodations to selfishly keep news about this gem to myself. Joann and David are wonderful hosts! They are so helpful and knowledgeable about local events, contacts, and local history. The breakfasts prepared each morning were not just your everyday eggs and toast; they were creative and delicious! The inn is spotless! You could not wish for a better view or location. The inn sits just a couple of blocks from downtown Darien and sits right on the edge of the beautiful marsh. Each room has access to a porch with sweeping views of the marsh. We really feel as if we made close friendships with Joann and David; our return trips will certainly be booked at the Darien Waterfront Inn!

Cruising the Intracoastal Waterway for many years we'd been curious to see the small community of Darien, way inland up one of the tributaries to the wide Altamaha River estuary. Fortunately we happened upon the Darien Waterfront Inn while browsing Trip Advisor on a trip to Florida by car. What a gem! Friendly innkeepers, tastefully appointed comfortable rooms, and beautiful view over the wide wide marsh. Although our stay was too short (under 24 hours) we enjoyed walking around town amongst Spanish moss festooned live oaks. The town, founded by Scottish settlers in 1726, offers much for history buffs. Wildlife enthusiasts should be sure to bring binoculars, and seafood lovers will find plenty of restaurants offering fresh locally caught shrimp and fish. We especially enjoyed the scrumptious breakfast prepared by the genial innkeepers. The company of interesting guests was an unexpected plus. We will definitely return and stay longer next time.

The B&B is nestled in a quiet gentrifying historic town, & in a neighborhood, that is a welcome sight for the weary traveler. The sparkly clean home was designed to be a B&B. Thus, there is a spacious open common area, and efficiently designed rooms, all providing individual & immediate access to the broad porches overlooking a vast Salt Marsh. Sitting on the porches, being wafted by the warm breeze off the marsh, while watching the sun set, was truly thereaputic! The welcoming Host was a marvel; gracious, informative, organized, and provided 1st class service. Yielding an all around excellent experience! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

What a perfect stay we had at the Darien Waterfront Inn in February. To say this was a perfect location for a B&B is an understatement!

The Owners welcomed us into their B&B as if we were family. Homemade breakfasts were delicious and Joann made dietary allowances for both of us. The location of our room allowed us to have Marsh views and a perfect place for my photography opportunities!

The bed provided a dreamy night's sleep and the B&B was spotless and I certainly will book a room again this summer. You will not be disappointed with this B&B.

We travel to Keys every year and are always looking for a break on the way down. This year because of the pandemic wanted a smaller spot and yet not sacrifice the quality of the accommodations. After looking at the reviews we decided on Darien Waterfront Inn. Immediately upon arrival we were welcomed by Owners David and Joann. The Inn was exactly as described
“Quaint nestled among Moss and Palm trees and overlooking River marshlands. Our Darien River Room was spacious w very comfortable King size bed and can be modified to accommodate other sleeping arrangements.
We absolutely loved our breakfast the next morning prepared by David and Joann described as their “Redneck Eggs Benedict” version. David even modified my wife’s meal w egg whites.
The entire visit while much too short but was most enjoyable and look forward to many return visits

Looking for a half way point in my travels so this coastal stop led to a small town where people were friendly. The room decor overlooked a marsh where we saw the perfect sunset from its back porch. Sheets were crisp and cleanliness prevailed. The bed & breakfast definitely made our stay special where we enjoyed French toast, bacon & fruit cup. The coffee was on tap from 6am on. My kind of place.
