The chef Zack prepares amazing delicious food served with gracious attention to detail. The guest rooms are immaculate and charming. The neighborhood is beautiful and great for self walks to view the elegant houses and landscape. This is a place that is certain to be great for locals for a special breakfast and dinner and travelers looking to enjoy Southern... More

Open Gates is the perfect name for this B&B. Zach and Kerri are warm and gracious and you will feel right at home without that awkwardness you sometimes feel at the beginning of a stay. The room itself was very comfy and inviting. Now, let's talk about the breakfast. Omelettes with fresh herbs, eggs Benedict with Zach's signature sauce, bacon... More

Thank you Cathy for your exquisite review! We are so lucky to share such a charming, quiet, quaint little gem of a town with everyone that comes here. Breakfast is half the name of a bnb so we will always do our best to make breakfast delicious and personalized if we can. We thank you again and look forward to... More

We spent 4 nights at Open Gates and were beyond pleased. I still haven't figured out how I'm gonna survive without Zach's amazing breakfasts each morning! The beds are so comfy and the house is beautiful. We spent time in the pool and hung out on the rocking chair front porch. Love the recommendations of the Wine Bar & Skippers,... More

My sister and I had a fantastic time at Open Gates. Tired after two weeks of roadtripping, we found it so pretty and homely, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful countryside. If you're looking for something closer to a hotel experience (spotlessly clean, all amenities on tap) this probably isn't for you, but we loved the atmosphere and thought... More

My colleagues and I dashed through Darien for a one night business trip, and were fortunate that Zack was able to accommodate us with three private rooms. They were lovely, comfortable, and had that fantastic character that only truly old homes can boast. We wish we had more time to relax on the comfortable wide porch, swim in that appealing... More

Zach and his wife are so friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding, cooked when you are ready to eat! The accommodations are not for 'city slickers' but rather for those looking for character and charm, which is exactly what we wanted. We stayed in the separate room away from the main house, very private and cozy. The bed was... More

Open Gates in Darien was during a 2 week roadtrip in US the place which remains strongest in memory. It was a wonderfull peacefull experience - the BB is quiet and full of athmosphere. Room, bed etc. was fine and Zach was a great host. His "Grits-breakfirst" might be a bit experimental to some stomachs, but I'm sure he can... More

Two nights at Open Gates were perfect for basing out of Darien to visit Sapelo Island. This is an inn. It's in a beautiful old home. It's charming, it's quirky, it's not a cookie-cutter Hampton. We really enjoyed it. The B&B is located a convenient 8 miles from the Sapelo Ferry. Our room was comfortable, clean, and restful, and the... More

I couldn't have said it better myself! We really are the perfect getaway to hit the reset button and unwind. We are so glad not to be a cookie cutter, unless it's when I'm making them fresh daily. I truly hope that everyone can make it to Darien at least once in their lives. It's quiet, quaint, and now "quirky",... More

Our recent stay (two nights) at Open Gates was just what we ordered and more. Zach is a wonderful host and chef and accommodated our late arrival. We met terrific locals at the breakfast table our first morning and learned a lot about the area. This is one great old house in a terrific little town that you don't want... More

Oh yes, the local "Breakfast Club" on Wednesdays is getting quite the review as well. Although I have only lived in the area approximately 3 years, I have had the pleasure of being able to serve breakfast to the public. It's fun and eclectic and there is always something new that I learn from the group about the area. Thank... More
