Highly recommended. Loads of possibilities, there's something to do for everyone. You can do outdoor sports, drink wine, shop and/or hike in the environment. Back to nature or visit cultural villages and towns. The possibilities are endless.

Me and brother toured Europe on Motorbikes carrying tents and winging the trip without plans. One evening travelling from Switzerland to Burgundy it was getting late and we were in the middle of nowhere, We came across Chalet du Montal for food and drinks and to ask where we could camp. The place was like an oasis in the middle of the woods with lovely surroundings a stream a wooden decking balcony,it was just perfect and the Dutch owners were so welcoming,we had great food there and asked where we could stay? No worries the owner replied, you can camp here I have a field next door but no facilities but it’s free and you have a stream. Perfect!!! We set up camp and went back for an evening of drinks. Everything was perfect and we left the next morning after them feeding us breakfast. I hope to return again as this place was lovely, the owners were lovely and also a fantastic meal. Thank you guys for making us so welcome. Adam and Julian

This hotel did not live up in any respect to the reviews I read. The only accurate description was the lovely location in the heart of a nature reserve and the cute location beside a river. Everything else was a disaster. Old, run down, lack of hygiene, junk everywhere, old and torn damp bed linen, old worn out uncomfortable mattresses. I didnt even have proper bed lnen on my bed, just a thread bare mattress protector! Duvet covers were damp and torm, pillows were old , mishaped and uncomfortable. The general state of repair of our family room was deplorable with light flittings hanging out of its socket, dirty damaged walls and ceilings, cobwebs and the constant odour of damp. The staff and management seemed like lovely people but this unfortunately doesnt make up for the rest. Such a shame as this location and property could have so much potential if it was run properly like a business. On the positive side the restaurant did a lovely home made burger and chips. However drinks from the bar are overpriced considering they are by the galss and poured from what seems to be like supermarket bought bottles. For this deeply dissappointing experience I paid €110 + €5 for my dog, for a family room for one night. For five of us you could say this was ok, but given the condition of the hotel and the room I'm afraid this was a complete rip off! Sorry but I can only advise potential clients to stay well away. My photos of the hotel are available on Google review. Unable to download here due to upload problem with my phone - sorry.

Chalet du Montal is situated in the environment of Dun les Places, in the Morvan, France. Much nature, woods and fields for the walker. Also bikers can have a good time. The chalet has a good kitchen, lays on a very quit place.

We found this restaurant at a crossroads, advertising a 13 euro menu for lunch, thought it would be an ideal place to stop to take advantage of an inexpensive meal at lunchtime. Location wise it is excellent and a beautiful setting. Greeted somewhat aloofly and directed to a table outside, served with an apero to start with. Everything seemed fine. Server arrived to tell us that today he only had a 22 euro menu available with a choice of two starters and two main dishes.......no mention of the 13 euro menu or explanation of the change. This made us feel uneasy having seen the board outside but we decided to be polite and take what was offered. We also noticed later on that others were served hamburgers and there was no mention of this to us. The food was nothing at all special, tomato and mozzarella cheese or plate of cooked meats for starter, Trout or chicken supreme for the main course. All the food was of supermarket cheap quality and not cooked professionally in our opinion, the fish was very dry and tasteless served with three tiny potatoes and no vegetables. We had to repeatedly ask for bread and water which when served the bread was not fresh baked bread rather supermarket cheap and lukewarm tap water. We were offered a desert of Chocolate mousse, I polity added that it wasn't possible for me to eat this and then quite directly asked by the sever if I had an allergy. After explaining the response was " well I think i have some ice cream if that is suitable for you" 5 minutes later we were presented with two balls of poor quality ice cream each with a glass of cream on the side as the server said " I wasn't sure if you wanted cream or not ! I have no problem paying 13 euros for this standard of cooking, service or food but at 22 euros for a tomato layered with cheese, a dry fish three potatoes and two balls of ice cream served with lukewarm tap water and dry bread I object somewhat. A real shame as this place could be so much better. If you are going to charge at the higher end guys which I think you could owing to the location at least make an effort with the service and food !
