I’ll be honest, there’s not a visit to this town where I don’t walk by White Birch Inn and wish to stay. July 6-8 I was able to book and stay at this sweet little getaway in the heart of Clayton.
Extra precautions were taken at arrival to ensure a healthy atmosphere for guests and staff (thank you!) and then I was given the tour of the inn. The decor is above par with paintings of birch tree scenery or the actual trees at the stairs. I was immediately relaxed on arrival with the gentle music playing as Maranda showed me to the Willow Room.
Words cannot truly capture the elegance and regal feel of this room so I’m hoping the pictures will help. It’s no surprise it’s called the Princess Suite as you are surrounded with delicate lighting which makes you feel like you have been whisked to a suite in Paris. The bed. THE BED! Pillows galore in various softness and a mattress that you will melt into at nightfall. If you are a light sleeper I recommend bringing a sound machine as the inn is located in the heart of town and sounds of traffic slip through at times. Do not let this hinder you because you cannot beat the location. I never had to drive the entire stay as local stores and eateries were close by. The location and streets are all well-lit and I felt completely safe being a solo traveler.
Breakfast and wine & cheese hour is included and made for a great way to get to know other guests or even relax on their screened in porch to read. There are personal touches all throughout the Inn even down to the China used at breakfast while you enjoy your choice of food and even fresh-squeezed OJ. The entire White Birch team always greeted you with a warm smile and assisted in any need you might have. Thank you Brenda, Maranda, Gina, Letty, and others I didn’t get to meet. You have created a wonderful haven of relaxation and retreat. I look forward to another visit soon. Thank you!

I just returned from two wonderful nights at The White Birch Inn, and I can't say enough good things about it to do it justice. I stayed in the Mountain Laurel Room and thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace on a rainy day. So relaxing and peaceful. The location is excellent for a huge variety of activities: mountains, lake, hiking, waterfalls, kayaking, restaurants, shopping. I could go on. But to the Inn: the staff is incredible! Everyone was so nice and so helpful. The afternoon wine and cheese trays individually prepared and wrapped for each room were a total delight. Turndown candies and individual ice buckets were left for each room each night. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to order only what I wanted and not to waste food from huge breakfast servings. Coffee was delicious!! If you get the chance to stay in this lovely place do not pass it up!!

Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and offered a full tour of the Inn. The Inn is absolutely beautiful, clean and well maintained. Our room was well appointed including fireplace and a copper soaking tub. The bedding, toiletries, towels, etc. were all top quality.
A very nice (and Covid safe) wine hour was part of our stay including good wine and a quality cheese tray.
We were served a very tasty breakfast in the court yard and the fresh squeezed juice made me realize the poor quality of most store bought juices. We, unfortunately, were unable to sample the private bar maintained in house but the choices of scotch and bourbon were excellent.
The location of the Inn is perfect for visiting Clayton and we were able to take a short walk to Fortify (dinner) which we consider to be the best restaurant in Clayton.
All in all, a great trip which we plan to repeat.

We spent two evenings at the White Birch Inn’s Cedar room and absolutely loved it. The inn is located in downtown Clayton, close to stores and restaurants, but can also be an oasis from daily life. Each room is unique in its design and beauty. Additionally, each morning you have your own full breakfast and a wine and cheese plate is served between 4-5 p.m. It is evident that tremendous thought and care went into the design of the entire inn with its gorgeous decor. Be sure to take advantage of White Birch Provisions, located just down Savannah Street from the inn.

The White Birch Inn was a great experience. After checking in, we didn't want to leave the downtown area, so we meandered around looking at the stores and enjoying the restaurants. Our room was spottless and cozy. The inn only has half-a-dozen rooms or so which makes the experience personalized. We would love to come back.

We love to give our guests a very unique and personal experience. It is one of the best parts of being a smaller bed and breakfast. And we are so glad that you enjoyed historic downtown Clayton! It is such a lovely town full of so many shops and restaurants such as Blue Ridge Toys, Fortify Kitchen and Bar, Universal Joint, Clark's on Main, Cage Free Boutique, The Farmhouse Clayton Donuts and Decor, plus so many more! We are so fortunate to be located in the heart of so much growth and diversity. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, and we cannot wait to see you again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Each shared space had its own charm and we wanted to sit everywhere and just take it all in. We lucked out by having the mountain laurel suite. That bathroom! We enjoyed the special bathtub and just the overall space and ambience of it.
Also, having the small, but useable workout room was a bonus to me. I used it each day and this made a big difference to how we enjoyed staying here (one person being an early riser and the other not).
The location is inviting with Clayton being so walkable to several good eateries and some shopping.
All the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. For instance, I asked for plates and silverware to use with the food we brought back for dinner and that was instantly accommodated.
We appreciate a smaller inn and being made to feel special by the staff while there. The White Birch Inn was no exception.
Also, the sister property - White Birch Provisions - has some of the best coffee and baked goods. We skipped our last breakfast at the Inn to enjoy some items and specialty coffee drinks here. You do get a voucher for 15% off there and I highly recommend using it! They have lots more to buy there, too.
The only thing I'd mention, which I've found to be true at the Inns we've visited, is that the variety available for breakfast does become generic after a while. In this case, having the bakery available at White Birch Provisions be a bigger part of the breakfast offerings would really set this over the top. As is, the coffee cake we had (which is available at the bakery) was so dry and hard as to be unappealing. Breakfast and snacks are nice, but need to be special to match the level of the accommodations.
However, that is just offered as constructive feedback. The place is wonderful and a destination in and of itself.

We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to write a review. We are so thrilled that you enjoyed your time with us! And we genuinely appreciate the constructive criticism. It helps us so much with our growth and the ability to give our guests the best experience possible. As for your critiques, the bakery amended its coffee cake recipe just this week because we had noted that it did seem a little dry, so our most sincere apologies about that. As for the breakfast menu items, we completely understand your "generic" comment. At the end of the day, we are a small (fairly new) business, so we are making strides each and every day to improve however we can. We are hoping to add to our already large breakfast menu. Just last month, we were able to introduce several new menu items such as quiche (from the bakery), local stone-ground grits, home fries, and oatmeal. Along with these items, we also have vanilla yogurt, fresh fruit, fruit/yogurt/granola parfait, eggs to order, waffle, toast, English muffins, sausage, bacon, fresh squeezed, juice, coffee, etc. As we continue to grow, we will certainly do our very best to get more creative with our breakfast menu, so thank you so much for your suggestion! We will definitely be sure to add at least one more item from our bakery so that our guests feel that they have more variety from which to choose. We look forward to seeing you again in the very near future!

We can't say enough nice things about this unique small inn in Clayton, GA. It was a lovely experience from check-in to check-out. The staff was so attentive, our room was perfect, and the breakfast in the beautiful dining area was delicious. The inn is located down town by a small park and is within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Several lakes and Tallulah Falls State Park are also close. In the afternoon, the inn had individual wine and cheese trays for each room which we enjoyed on a private screened porch. We loved our stay and plan to return to White Birch Inn again. The Daniels

I stayed in The White Birch Inn last night for my second visit. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff! The Inn is gorgeous, and my Hemlock Suite was awesome. It was very cold outside and took me a while to get the room warm enough for me even with the beautiful fireplace, but I did settle in warm and so very comfy last night. I want to shout out for all the staff! There are steep steps to the second-floor rooms, but fortunately there is parking up at that level and no stairs to unload your car and get to your room. Life saver. I am 70 years old with COPD and those stairs are very hard on me. Impossible with luggage. The first thing is they serve wine and cheese between 4:00 and 5:00, but downstairs, meaning I would have to climb the stairs to enjoy this amenity. The wonderful staff offered to actually to bring my wine and cheese plate to my room!!! AND they brought me ice for my cooler. The next most amazing thing was they offered to serve me breakfast in the second-floor lounge so I wouldn't have to climb the stairs for breakfast!!! My table was set when I arrived at 9:00 and I was immediately served fresh coffee. The staff repeatedly came up those stairs to check on me, refill my coffee and see if I needed anything. Beyond spoiled I felt!!!!! Thank you, White Birch Inn.

On a whim, I decided to take a quick getaway for myself. I booked a one night stay at the White Birch Inn. I should have booked earlier to stay longer, but one night was all they had remaining in their bookings. It was the perfect getaway. The Inn is so very charming, and the staff so welcoming. They had the smoothest of check ins, gave me a tour of the accommodations, provided convenient free parking, offered a free happy hour with a bar if further refreshments were desired, a coffee/hot tea bar upstairs near the rooms, and a delicious, beautifully presented free breakfast the next morning. There were several lounging areas for reading, relaxing, and a lovely screened porch perfect for enjoying a porch swing or a rocking chair. Each staff member I encountered was welcoming, kind, and genuinely interested in my comfort and having the best experience possible. There is also a small gym and a massage/spa room. I will plan ahead for that next time! It is the perfect spot for couples, friends, or if you choose a self care solo getaway for yourself like I did. Cant wait to return. Thank you to the owners and staff of White Birch Inn

Good evening. Thank you for your inquiry, but unfortunately we do not accept pets. Have you tried The Dillard House in Dillard? I have been told they are the only lodging around that accepts pets. Good luck. Warm regards, Brenda Patterson
