We have stayed in this area before, but never in Clayton. We were so blessed to find the Beechwood Inn and the gracious hosts, Ellie and Marlon. This is a historic B&B that has been completely refurbished but has retained all the historic detail and charm. There is room regulated quiet air conditioning and a beautifully updated bathroom with great shower fixtures and great water pressure. There is a gas fireplace in the room, but it being summer we did not use, but look forward to trying it out in the fall! Ellie and Marlon have thought of every detail, from the bathroom products, so the oh so comfy sheets, blankets, pillows, towels and robes. We stayed in the Savannah Suite. The lower terrace off the front porch is a fabulous garden and the perfect place to enjoy their wine thirty offering with a tapas. The grounds of the entire property are just fabulous and colorful this time of year. Ellie's breakfasts are delightful, so don't eat a heavy meal the night before! Even the coffee is delicious, with mugs warming on a hot plate when you come down to breakfast. We look forward to returning in the fall to see the colors and enjoy a fire. We highly recommend this B&B!

We recently spent two nights at Beechwood Inn. It was extremely relaxing. Our suite was the cutest. My husband is very nervous about Covid and we are extremely cautious. The owner discussed all safety/housekeeping measures that were in place to ease any concerns. Our suite was extremely clean, the bathroom was updated and we had ample room. The grounds were immaculate. My favorite part of the stay was the bed...it was soooooooo comfortable!!! Breakfast was a real treat. The location is not secluded but there is no loud noise and it is close to an abundance of beautiful sites and locations. I would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your observations about our health and safety practices at Beechwood Inn. Yes, we live on this property so we take this all very seriously. Glad it shows and makes you confident. CDC and Lodging Industry guidelines highly encourage properties to isolate guest rooms one day before guest arrival and one day after check out. Our housekeeper doesn’t enter the room for 24 hours for her safety. Our breakfasts and daily Wine-Thirty feature local foods. We are proud of our local farmers and support their efforts. We are glad you enjoyed your visit.

This was our first time staying at the Beechwood Inn, and we hope to return post-pandemic when their wine dinners are once more available. Everyone associated with this Select Registry Inn is delightful - very welcoming and brimming with ideas on things to do in the area. We stayed in the Blackberry Cabin, which is perfect for two and has a lovely jetted tub, perfect for after-hike soaking. Delicious and beautifully plated breakfasts got us off to a great start each day, and wine at 5:30 on the porch was a nice way to relax and meet other guests and still be socially distanced. The town of Clayton has some nice dining options, and there is so much to do in the area that we barely scratched the surface during our three days there.

Yes, the we are looking forward to the "post-pandemic" lifestyle of running a hospitality property, for more reasons than just the dinners. Our staff all have lots of knowledge of our area and can help plan your itinerary each day depending on your interests. We spend lots of time working on our food service, we want food to be eaten with your eyes first then also to taste scrumptious. We refer to Gayle as our "Garnish Goddess." She takes great pride in enhancing not only the taste but also the beauty of our foods. Wine-thirty is a favorite time especially in the fall with our spectacular view of Black Rock Mountain as it nears sunset. Yes, three days is barely enough time to scratch the surface on local activities.

Innkeepers Dave and Gayle Daraugh and assistant Emma made everything about our visit special and memorable. Our suite (Nantahala) was incredibly comfortable with sumptuous bedding and a private patio overlooking the secret garden...just the perfect spot for a romantic cocktail. Breakfast was amazing each morning, but our favorite part of any stay at Beechwood is chatting with the Innkeepers over wine and light hors d’oeuvres. They have some wonderful stories to share.

This is a Select Registry inn, and besides your relaxing stay, your hosts know where to send you for winery tours, a delicious dinner, the best mountain hike, or a beautiful picnic with a view. While we were in town, we toured Moonrise Distillery for a fun afternoon.

Reserve your stay at Beechwood Inn, find a seat on the porch, and feel the stress melt away!

This is the type of review we revel in. You have mentioned all the fine points we emphasize to ourselves and our employees. Yes, we want you to enjoy your room and its appointments, and our mountain beauty - but what we hope sets us apart is our personal yet friendly service. Our intended objective is to have every guests experience not just the best of our region, but to learn about some hidden secrets you feel we shared just with you. What better way to elevate your experience. Glad you also enjoyed our front porch and felt your stress melt away. Happy 30th anniversary!

My husband & I found The Beechwood Inn while looking for places to stay in Georgia to see "Fall"! The Inn is super clean, charming, welcoming and up on a hill just outside of Clayton.

The new owners Eli & Marlon are fabulous hosts who pay attention to every detail of their operation. The transformation of the Inn is light, bright & very charming.

The towels were Turkish towels that are the softest I have ever felt & the bedding was high end.

Breakfast was served daily between 8-9 am and included a variety of gourmet home cooked foods and fresh produce.

We sat on the front porch and in the hammocks enjoying the fall leaves, crisp air and calmness of the day.

During Wine o'clock on the patio we sipped wine with the owners as well as another couple who were visiting from Louisiana.

Nothing is overlooked at this Bed & Breakfast!! If you have the opportunity to visit & stay here, do it! I guarantee it will be the most relaxing stay.

Thank you Eli & Marlon for your gracious hospitality & sharing your story with us! Matt & I will be back!

David was a very gracious host. We enjoyed a delicious specially prepared breakfast each day as well as a nice glass of wine provided each day at 5:30 pm both enjoyed on their spacious front porch with views of the mountain. We stayed in the Nantahala suite which was private and had it's own outdoor back patio sitting area.

Our trip to Clayton was a last minute get-away and had no idea of available B&B’s or Inns. Our search online led us to the Beechwood Inn. We could not have asked for a better host & hostess as Gayle & David. The facility was quite quaint and we felt very comfortable and safe in spite of the current situation with Covid. The breakfasts served were superb and their wines & appetizers offered at “Wine Thirty” each day were delicious. We will definitely return in the future! Thanks again guys for making our visit a delight !!! The Rambos

I didn't know what to expect when I pulled into the Beechwood Inn but quickly learned a little history of the place from Eli and Marlon. It has pretty much continuously been an inn since 1922. Eli and Marlon purchased the inn in December of 2021 and they quickly put their imprint on the place. The rooms are charming (and spacious for an old inn). It has been remodeled and modernized over the years but still keeps its 20's charm.

Eli and Marlon are the perfect hosts. They are excited about the inn and make the guests feel comfortable and at home. They offer a wine hour at 5:30 pm and breakfast is from 8-9 am every morning and trust me, it's worth it. Eli made some delicious breakfasts that went above and beyond what most inns would offer. Marlon made sure you had plenty of coffee (and wine). They are an interesting couple and really like to interact with the guests. They make you feel like they are inviting you into their home.

You definitely cannot go wrong staying here. I think it is one of the top 10 inns I've stayed in over the years. I predict even greater things for it and Eli and Marlon.

My husband and I stayed there three nights in Jan 2020 in the Savannah Suite. The room was huge, with a fireplace, dressing room and a great bathroom. The room was very clean and comfortable (and we are very finicky about cleanliness!). The whole inn is very well managed. Dave was an exceptional host. We arrived late and he was there to receive us. Two mornings we had to get out early in the morning. He (and their manager) came out early those days and cooked us an amazing breakfast! Btw - breakfast was different each day...yummy and healthy. We even had wine one evening (there is wine & appetizers every evening) and made friends with another couple staying there. Ginger cookies were amazing, always took one for the road! It was just my husband and me, but I would gladly come back with my kids if we are in that area. This place is a gem.

I used to travel the world on business and cleanliness is more than important. So yes, my staff and I deep clean guest rooms, bathrooms and public rooms on a regular schedule. Deep clean means every detail gets cleaned. Glad you enjoyed the Savannah Suite. For most of our guestrooms we converted two 1920 bed rooms into large multi-room suites with luxury bathrooms. We are glad you appreciate our approach. When we travel we do not like box hotel breakfasts - always the same powdered eggs, pre-packaged cereals, yogurts and 2 pound bagels. We keep track of breakfast menus for guests staying multiple days and try to make sure we do not repeat a meal. And we use only the highest quality local farm products. That is the way we like to eat, so that is the way we feed our guests. Gayle's Ginger Snap cookies are a recipe from her grandmother that she has tweaked to an even higher level. We look forward to your next visit.

We booked a mid-week overnight stay at Beechwood Inn with 2 other couples coupled with an amazing 4 course wine dinner curated by a local chef. Marlon & Eli are consummate hosts starting with a tour of their magnificent inn and pre-dinner cocktail reception. The property is everything you long for when visiting the Northeast GA mountains. Your stress will evaporate as soon as you enter the front porch. Once inside this meticulously appointed inn you’ll feel it’s historic charm from the sitting rooms to the comfy suites upstairs. Our mid-week stay provided a safe gathering spot for us to connect with friends, enjoy great food & wine over dinner and cap our stay with an amazing breakfast. Beechwood Inn has my highest recommendation for a stay of any length in Clayton, GA!

We appreciate their recommendation. We are conveniently located near 4 wineries in Rabun County, Georgia. We used to allow pets but unfortunately we have had two bad experiences with dogs, so we no longer accept pets. We look forward to your next visit to our area.
