The Good • The staff were attentive and professional (see below for exception). • The facility (buildings & grounds) are beautiful and well-kept. All of the public spaces are very nice. • Our guest room was spacious, attractive and very clean. The Bad • No housekeeping for guests staying multiple nights. They had me sign a waiver at check-in and perhaps it was mentioned in it. Either way, I feel the front desk staff should advise guests of that policy. BTW, I called Marriott and their policy is to provide housekeeping only upon request. • The front desk staff was not particularly friendly or welcoming. • Prices at all the bars and restaurants are outrageous. I paid $17.00 for a club sandwich. A friend paid $36.00 for a double pour of a single malt scotch. A burger is $23.00. • Ditto for the prices for catered events. We paid $61.00 per person for a chicken dinner. • Resort fees are a genuine subject of debate in the hospitality business. The hotels want to keep their “advertised” prices lower, but the guests feel that it is a bait-and-switch game. Chateau Elan makes the resort fee well-known and there are some tangible benefits included (golf range token, bike usage, one hour on tennis court, etc.) Personally, I would rather the hotel just raise the published rate and not make it an “add-on”. • Parking for overnight guests is $16.00 per day. I can understand paying for parking in a city/downtown location, but not in a rural setting with acres and acres of open space. This is pouring salt in the wound on top of the resort fee. • I am not aware of any business that has a surcharge for credit card charges. This one reeks of a business in desperation. • In my business career I had some responsibility for meeting planning, so I know how all that works. I understand paying a “service charge” for catered food and beverage but I think 24% is excessive. I am more accustomed to it being 18%. • In addition to the service charge, they tack on an 8% “event fee.” When I questioned the catering staff person I was told it is to cover set up and tear down of tables, chairs, linens, etc. I never heard of such a fee before.…
It was years since I had visited Chateau Elan and I was pleasantly surprised. The only complaint I had before was that the restaurant in the atrium was a little outdated. They updated the booths to make it feel more intimate and massive art. As an artist I totally loved it.
Spent Five awesome days Playing Golf, Visiting the Spa, Enjoying the Winery, and Experiencing the Chef's cooking class. Our experience was worth it and very relaxing. The only thing lacking was how early everything shutdown. The only thing they needed to do is keep one of the bars open until 11:00 PM. It seems due to COVID they shutdown the bars around 9:00 to 9:30 in the evening. We would have wished for it to be a little later but it wasn't. But outside of this the resort was worth the visit.
Excellent location. Service was spotty due to COVID and less interaction but everyone was friendly helpful timely and responsive. Winery tour excellent, massage amazing. Fantastic place to visit. Would definitely recommend. Food was superior. Took the cooking class, best experience
Went to Chateau for a one day relaxation and it is a beautiful and clean place. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. Food at Versailles was good. I recommend the lobster macaroni and cheese.
