I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The bedsheets had food crumbs and multiple long hairs in them. The floor had not been swept and the bathroom shower drain had a lot of hair in it. The refrigerator also had old pizza sauce in it. All of this leads me to believe the room had not been cleaned or the person doing the cleaning did not do their job well. There was also no soap which I've never seen a hotel not have barsoap before. Also, when we went to check out at 11 (the check out time), no one was in the office to give us our $10 deposit. We had to find a cleaning person and she left a note for the office person and told us to come back the next day. We did and the lady was actually there that time, but said she didn't have any money to give us for the deposit. I couldn't believe it. First, when people are checking out, they need to be in the office to do the process. AND they need to have cash for the deposit. We had to make a second trip back for this reason. The office lady complained that she would have to give us her own money and get reimbursed and that they probably wouldn't reimburse her, I sensed to try to make us feel guilty. Not our problem, that needs to be taken care of by the manager/owner. The office lady was also rude. Needless to say, we did not stay at Banyan Bay for the rest of our stay. We went down the road to the Howard Johnson, which was MUCH better. Clean rooms, friendly staff. We stayed there for three days and would recommend the Howard Johnson over Banyan Bay any day. I can't believe places like this stay in business. Clean rooms should be a given.

I came here because I was tired of showering with the lizzards which seemed to always find it's way in my room and some of my coworkers were already here and said it was okay. Plus here they had a washer and dryer and ice machine and the weekly rate was a little less. So,I checked in and was happy to find there was no way for lizzards to get in my room. The television is old, the toilets flush with a handle from the 60's and the sink is low. My bed has a mattress that walks like a rug. However, it's doable. After some time, I mentioned it to the manager and they put me in a better room. Thank You! The parking lot is decent and the staff is great. The woman who cleans the rooms does a great job. They are truly blessed to have her. She does a great deal of work around here and the laundry as well. Most hotels have another person for the laundry, but this lady is doing it all. I sure hope that they pay her well for all the time and labor she does around this motel. Working 7 days a week too! I'm staying here because it's affordable. I could stay at the hotel 10 miles away from the job but I would be paying an extra 160 a week. I made the sacrifice and drive 40 miles.

The staff were friendly. There is a washer and dryer on site which is very convenient. I believe the rooms are in dire need of updating. The carpeting in our room was stained terrible. I believe that they are in the process of updating - they just need to do more quicker.

Where do I begin. This is by far the worst motel I have ever stayed at. When we inquired about the room (we were a walk-in) we asked to see a room. She gave us two keys. First room smelled like an ashtray and was filthy.. nope. 2nd room was better but we barely got a chance to inspect it because within 60 seconds, the front desk lady was banging on the door. Should have known right then and there.. this is not the place for us. I imagine a lot of people say they "want to see a room" and have other intentions, she probably has a 2 minute rule. Ok so.. this place looked super cool from the outside, my girlfriend and I were up for an antique buying trip and thought staying at a retro hotel would be awesome. My girlfriend was not impressed once we saw the inside and I gave her the "sometimes you gotta be adventurous" speech.. I wish I just listened to her and kept my mouth shut. We say ok.. we'll take the room. We go down to sign paperwork, etc. we see these dead stock postcards from back in the day and we are thrilled, thinking this is gonna be so fun, they look so cool and retro, what a find! Mind you.. this around 5pm, only a few cars in the parking lot, nobody really around. We feel a little iffy about it but we're just gonna go with it. Fast forward to 11pm.. we come back to the hotel after dinner and a movie. We pull up and there is a man, half passed out on the ground touching himself and rambling incoherently next to our room. Ok.. well, I gotta take a pic of this, cause wth right? We park our rental van and get out to get our stuff. Then, like cockroaches people start pouring out of their rooms staring at us as we gather our things and bring them in. We get into the room and we are like.. oh man what did we get ourselves into. Then we start hearing yelling, and partying and people walking past our window yelling at each other from their doorways. This goes on for the entire night. Every room has jalousie windows, and they are not very good sound barriers, so guess what.. you hear EVERYTHING. All night, its just one big party out there, people coming and going.. I was looking out the window every 2 min to make sure nobody was breaking into the van, I watched a hooker get in a fight with some random dude, I saw people coming and going like there was taco stand setup somewhere (and I'm pretty sure nobody was buying or selling tacos if you know what I mean.) At this point I'm really angry, we are not staying here.. we need to checkout and get our money back. Look for a phone in the room to call the desk.. nope, no phone. Ok, call them on my cell. Rings and rings forever, nobody picks up, no answering machine nothing. Long story short, we decide to rough it out cause we know we have a long day ahead of us and don't want to leave and risk not being able to find another place to stay. We got about 2 hours of sleep. The door slamming and yelling stopped around 5-6AM and we slept off and on till about 8ish. I wake up really tired, but awake enough to know, its time to get out of here. We pack up and go to the desk. I ask the woman why does nobody at the desk pick up the phone.. her answer "Oh I don't pick up the phone at night" (she's upstairs sleeping above the office by the way) and I'm like really? What if there is an emergency or if someone has a question or complaint.. nothing, changes the subject and starts the check-out process. I tell her that we barely slept because we were kept up by hookers, drug deals and loud partying all night. She says "I didn't hear a thing" I tell her, I'm sorry but this is unacceptable, I would like a refund.. she tells me no. I tell her I'm going to call my credit card company and dispute the charge and leave and unpleasant review.. she said sorry no refunds.. I didn't hear or see anything. So please for the love of God.. don't ever stay here. Its not worth it. Also.. the rooms (upon further inspection) are utterly disgusting. I mean, I have been in abandoned buildings that are cleaner than these rooms and I am dead serious.. its that gross.
