    Robinson Crusoe Paradise
We spent Two nights in this paradise with other families over New Years Eve. What a fantastic spot, put together simply, elegantly and very comfortably. The staff were friendly and attentive, but not too familiar. Service was excellent. Lots to do, and a perfect match of Beach and Bush. We will definitely go back - well done!

    Awesome!
The thought of a Swiss urban family staying in Bungalows without walls (just thatched roofs), 24/24h outdoors, in the middle of Kenya seemed strange to us, too. Or to say, we also had our doubts about it, especially as we are a Swiss urban family and it is not only the snakes that one thinks of as a threat before going to a trip to Africa... But, from the very first moment, we realised that our fears were in vain. We landed on a nearby air-strip and were welcomed by Ibrahim and Kombo who took us after 20 min boat drive to a place as close to paradise as it gets. Florian (the lodge manager) and his team were waiting for us and they all proved to be the most attentive hosts. We stayed 4 nights, waking up with the sun rising. Seeing the dawn without even having to lift your head from your bed is a wonderful way to start your day. So it turned out, that „no walls“ is something to recommend. The occasional visits by vervet monkeys were absolutely unproblematic and just added to the „out-door“ experience. Needles to say that one feels so protected by all the staff during the day and the askaris (watchmen) during the night, who are sure to leave you enough privacy. We would say that four days is an absolute minimum in the Tana Delta Dunes as there is so much to do, and so many great dishes to taste. Bird watching is an absolute highlight and the boat trips along the mangroves are a pleasure. We have been to several places in the world, but this place is unrivalled in number of species and distance to which you get to the birds. The knowledge of the guide was excellent, not only about the animals but also about the plants. Our two girls (10 and 13) enjoyed sand-yachting and fishing, while we were looking forward to the sun downers. This is a place, which we can definitely recommend. A very big thanks to all the team for the most wonderful time we had. We will never forget it and hope to come back! Leila and Jean-Michel

    A Beach To Ourselves
Our 3rd and last stop on our first African adventure could not have ended on a better note. The flight to Malindi was easy. The trip by car to the Tana took nearly 3 hours and then another 20 minutes by motor boat to the lodge. The lodge is built on the dunes that are wedged in between the Tana river and the Indian Ocean. A perfect location for a place like this. The facilities have a "rustic/elegant" style. A lot of the furniture and decor is made from driftwood or stuff that have been washed on the beach over the years...done in a very classy way. Our room high on the dunes and was comfortable with a view of the river. We did get a wake up call from a group of about 6 monkeys...they were so cute, but did scatter some of our belongings around the room. We let them. The food was the best we had on our trip. Wilson, the chef, is outstanding. I wanted to bring him home with us :) The seafood served was very fresh, right from the waters in front of the lodge. One night we had giant lobsters, the largest I have ever seen. The pool is great! Clean and warm. The beach is great. The water is very warm and the waves are long and mild, perfect for body surfing. I could have spent a months here, but unfortunately we had to go. Thanks Anna and crew for a fabulous experience.

This was the last stop of my indescribably transformational trip with Wow Travel club to Kenya. Our little group (12 of us) arrived with a chartered plane, and swiftly got into our boats, for a beautiful ride to the lodge. Lush landscape all the way, hippos popping their heads up on our way. Many moments during our 3 nights stay, when you just want to pinch yourself, to see if you are dreaming. As at all #SecludedAfrica properties, you will find a very attentive staff, knowledgable and joyous. Our Chef, who was as creative as delightful, has pleased every palette. Genet cats, Bush babies come out at night time, and during the day you can enjoy your private 16 miles long beach for a walk, or sand yacht, beach comb. Or go kayaking on the Tana river. It is eco chic at its finest, sustainable, driftwood heaven. The rooms are open, with your bed wrapped in mosquito net. The pool was very inviting, and laying out in the lovely hammocks, with the soft breeze, was very romantic! Climbing up to the rooms makes you feel like a modern day Robinson Crusoe. You will sleep like a baby here! Sun downers on the boat at sunset, and the clearest night sky lit up will guide your captain back. The sand dunes are so inviting, as are your rooms. You'll never want to leave. As at all stops, leaving was the only negative. Thank you Secluded Africa for this unforgettable trip. Na Kupenda Sana.

Dear 856dileshb, Thank you for leaving the review. I am pleased you enjoyed our lodge. We hope to welcome you again and would highly recommend flying by charter to our private airstrip or driving from Malindi (just 2.5hrs). The road from Lamu is not recommended as it is long, bumpy and has many checks, as you saw. We would love to know how we can improve. Please feel free to share your feedback at anytime. Best regards, Robyn, Secluded Africa

Another amazing experience shared by all at H12. Kizungu and all the staff are really kind, hospitable and hard working. We all really felt at home. The wind was great, we kited in 25 knots and enjoyed riding out at sea and inside the mouth of the river on the low tide. The river cruise was incredible, much much wildlife to spot, and a beautiful way to end the day in style! We will definitely be back!!

My wife and I travelled up from Diani and spent 2 amazing nights at this fantastic location. Perched on top of a sand dune with views over both the old Tana Delta Rivermouth as well as the Indian Ocean, the lodge offers barefoot luxury accommodation that was created with the concept of freedom of free flowing space. There are no doors or windows anywhere and the feeling of being outside at one with nature is overwhelming. The lodge manager Kelly did an amazing job of looking after us and organizing all our activities and all the crew, Ibrahim, Kazungu and Daniel made us feel right at home. We went with the intention to kitesurf and were lucky to score amazing conditions on the first day with a steady 20 knot breeze coming in off the ocean and perfect little kickers that were lining up as the tides rolled back in. The area is wild as has wildlife all around. On our river cruise we spotted a large group of hippo and had the pleasure of cruising through the conservancy which has around 277 different types of bird species inhabiting the area, making the area arguably one of the most important area for bird life in the whole of Kenya. Over all, this has to be one of THE best spots to experience the real African bush to beach experience and we plan to return again as this was without doubt one of our most favourite kitesurfing safari destinations along the East African coast. Thank you so much guys for everything, see you again soon!!

Hidden jewel at the coast in one of Kenya's most pristine conservancies. Beautiful setting in the dunes, delicious food fresh from the see and stunning sunsets from the lovely roof top and open room terraces. All of this with respect for nature, support to the local community and delightful activities, such as boat and birding trips in the vast mangrove forest. Sincere thanks to the dedicated staff for their outstanding service that made our stay so special. Delta Dunes is a wonderful place that make you want to go back...

This unique place is a must visit. The amazing hand-built camp is situated where one of the Mouths of the Tana meets the Indian Ocean. Beach & Bush, Luxury meets Simplicity this spot is a MUST VISIT for any wannabe Robinson Crusoes out there. You could land a jumbo jet on the superb beach (Best BeachCombing in Kenya) & beware the lions in the Dom palm thickets. This place is Heaven although the kitchen might feed you too much crab.... Highly recommended......

This is one of most unusual and beautiful beach properties in the world. Our room was on top of a sand dune and we had beautiful and unspoilt views of the beach on one side and the tana delta on the other. The staff are excellent, and a special thank you to Kazungu who made us feel so welcome. The beach is endless and with beautiful rock formations on one side. We had a super successful fishing trip in the river and caught enough fish for all guests and staff to eat for dinner! The chef's cinnamon rolls were delicious and he generously gave me the recipe too! There are a lot of steps to climb to get to the camp and also an uphill walk from the beach - but you get used to it pretty quickly! Thank you to all the staff and I hope to be back soon and hopefully we'll get to see the leopard that we missed!
