We had a good experience that delivered excellent value. "Mike" was a great help for us during reservations and we received a large, super clean, ground level ocean front room with kitchenette. It was nostalgic to fill out paper work by hand and receive a actual key for the door locks. Waldo's was the on site restaurant and we had an excellent dinner there with good service and pleasant beach ambiance. The varied collections from Mr. Sexton over many years are a real treasure to view. The check in was flawless. We got a good 3 mile run on a beautiful beach at low tide.

My husband and I stayed at this eclectic resort during our 40 th anniversary . Our room was clean and comfortable . It was a studio with pool out couch if needed. The front desk people were pleasant and helpful this is not a 5 star resort for sure . Towel exchange once a week . You handle your own trash emptying and there’s brooms and vacuums in your room available to use . But , that being said the ambiance is “ahhh relaxation “! We rented chairs and umbrella from a small mom and son company right there. There were two pools , one was surrounded by a restaurant and bar . Entertainment was t always the best but pleasant 2 person band singing oldies ( great for us ) . Surrounding restaurants , Lemon tree, Ocean grill, Mulligans ,Francesca’s Italian kitchen …
We went to the second pool a couple of times and met another couple of families who are owners of a couple of timeshare rooms. Fun times . The resort has many families and the kids of all ages enjoyed the pools and beach . We were about 1 1/2 hr away from Disney . Overall very pleasant ! Definitely will try to come back again!

My aunt & I have been patrons of Waldo's for years & decided to treat ourselves to a stay at the Driftwood Resort that surrounds our favorite hangout spot in Vero Beach. We were not disappointed. I think the majority of the rooms has some view of the ocean & we made good use of our chairs in our patio area to enjoy our view. The room was cozy and had a dining nook, well equipped kichen and separate sleeping & living room. The sleeping area included pocket doors to allow for additional privacy. The shower was wonderfully hot. I would stay again without hesitation. It's right on the Vero Beach strip with lots of shopping and restaurants. I recommend Waldo's for lunch or dinner and across the street is the Lemon Tree for breakfast or lunch.

The Driftwood Resort Inn and Resort
3150 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach, Florida 32963
I had booked the room for 2 weeks, 6 months in advance; the sales person (Lynn) did not give me the correct facts on many questions that I asked before I booked it. She gave the room rate, but of course did not give you the taxes or resort fee. I totally understood the tax, 11% but the resort fee, for what. She told me there was an elevator to our room, but ended up not to our rooms. Laundry facility one with 2 washers and 2 dryers. She booked us two rooms one for each week and was told they both were on the beach which was not true. One on the beach, one on the pool. I asked if we would have a problem with parking and if there was a cost for the parking, she stated no charge for parking and we have no issues with parking and both vehicles could park on our property not true. We had two vehicle’s and requested two spots at check in. We had to park on the street and go move one vehicle every two hours.
We had to move to another room, because she did not follow-up on reserving the 2nd room properly, we had to stay on the property until the other people checked out, and the room was cleaned. They would help us move it should only be a couple of hours, we were on vacation and we had to stay on the property from 8am till 4 pm. Then we had to move ourselves. Both rooms were dirty, the grounds were dirty, the restaurant was very dirty. Items did not work in the room. I spoke to the manager twice (Amy) and very unprofessional. Furnishings very old, Cleanliness very dirty, overpriced, maintenance in units needs repair. Very noisy good luck with sleeping.
Swimming pool no diving, kids diving all day, security walked through wanted to see your bracelet, but that was it, you can bring glass at the pool, lighting and thunder and let the children with no supervision still in the pool. This place has to be an insurance nightmare with what they let go on.
We were told we would have coffee in the room, just the coffee pot and I was told there would be salt, pepper, toilet paper, Kleenex, etc. what you would normal get in a Condo or Hotel room just the basics for a condo, we had to buy are own when we got there.
Over $4,405.00 for this place. After talking with people in the surrounding areas, everyone said it really has gone downhill. Not impressed. You need new management. So sad even the housekeepers, maintenance people, etc., told us how sorry they were with what we went through, I guess the manager thought it was important to discuss with the staff.

Response from Jeanne Radlet, Guest Services / Front Office at Driftwood Resort
Responded Jul 21, 2022
Good Afternoon, I sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced and I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us this past March. I would like to clarify a few of the issues you mentioned, so in the future if you decide to give us another chance there will be no confusion on how our property works. You may not be aware, but we are a timeshare resort, and it is very seldom we have the same room available 2 weeks in a row, which results in you having to move. This was how your reservation was made, with a move from a 2nd floor 1-bedroom oceanfront suite to a ground floor poolside 2-bedroom suite. At no time was your reservation changed from the rooms you reserved, and Lynn is very good at describing the location and accommodation with in each room. I apologize if she was not clear and for any confusion regarding the location and type of rooms you reserved. At no point was either room available for 2 weeks in a row to prevent the move. We do try to prevent move rooms when we can, so you do not have to spend your day waiting. Unlike most timeshare resorts, we do allow you to stay in the room until the other one is ready, so you do not have to check out at 10am and find a place for your groceries until checking back in at 4pm. Unfortunately, the guest in the room you moved to the 2nd week was also moving to another unit which resulted in a delay in getting you moved earlier in the day. It was not something the front desk was aware of since they were using another owners week and did not inform us ahead of check out time. This is not something we anticipated and resulted in you having a longer than expected wait to move to your next unit. Again, I am sorry you had to spend most of your day waiting for your second room to get ready, we really do try and get the move rooms done as quickly as we can. I am not sure what happened with our staff helping with your move, they help guests everyday move in and out and assist guests every week who are moving. You stayed with us in March which is our highest season, and parking is difficult during our busy seasons, I apologize for any misunderstanding regarding our parking. We only allow a 1 -bedroom to have 1 parking permit, your guest could have parked in the parking lot by the office with out a permit, I am sorry they felt the only option was to park on the street. You did have a 2nd car permit the second week when you were in the larger unit. I pulled your reservation out, which you made with us 3 months before your arrived. You were given a discounted weekly rate which does not offer daily housekeeping service. The nightly rate would have offered daily housekeeping service which would have replaced your coffee packets, toilet paper, tissues, and fresh linens as needed but is about $300 more per week then the discount you received when you made the reservation. I am sorry if the two options were not explained to you when you made your reservations. The front desk has extra coffee, toilet paper, tissues, and pool towels you can pick up from 7am to 11pm. We do not provide salt, pepper, or paper towels. We do have a guest laundry room on property, as you mentioned. This is a convenience for our guests who do not wish to go to the main land to do their laundry. The cost is $3.00 per load (1 wash & 1 dry) . Because there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers there can be a wait if many guests are trying to use at the same time, and in March I am sure that was the case. I am sorry for the issues you had during your stay. I do hope you will give us another chance in the future. Amy Raymond General Manager

We love the Driftwood had the most relaxing 4 days of the year. Our room was clean and comfortable . Having the grills by the beach and the kitchenette made it easy to feed the kids at the room and save a little money . Love the location there is nothing we don't love about the Driftwood and Waldos , we will be back again and again and again !!

The shower curtain fell down 3 times(once in the middle of the night). Hinges on the doors were loose. Turned the ceiling fans on and the dirt went flying. It took an engineer to put the plug in the tub. We will never go back.

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay in your oceanfront studio room. I know that when you checked in you were wanting to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom unit but RCI had placed you in a studio unit. I'm sorry we couldn't accommodate your request for an upgrade as we were completely full. The tub plug is a step plug, you just step on it and it locks in place and releases the same way. I do apologize that there was dust on the living room ceiling fan. Jeanne Radlet, GM

Overall, the price you can't beat to stay here compared to other places in Vero Beach. It is a rustic place so it is not your glamorous hotel with everything I am use too. I prefer a bath tub with no scratches or rust stains in the tub because upon the first view of seeing this I wondered how clean it was. Overall, I was fooled and it just needs some TLC and repairs. I loved the fact that there was an abundance of towels and other linens. The management goes out of their way to ask how your stay is going. We stayed 8 days and loved the parking, the proximity to shops, our walks on the beach and city neighborhoods. The weather was in the 70's the week of Jan.7-15, 2022 with one rainy day. Everything at all the restaurants are within a short walk and a great food selection., will be back. Surprisingly, hardly anyone used the pool so we had the pool and the beach each day to enjoy. The pool was very clean too. We ate at Waldo's 2-3 times and everything was great. The only complaint I will mention is that for the most part the wait staff are quick, provide good service, and dress appropriately; however, there was one female worker that needs to be talked to about her hygiene and wearing a dirty stained shirt two days in a row that I saw her, black work boots that had mud on them, and an unkept look needs addressing and I was not the only one in the restaurant that noticed this as other customers did too. Overall, these are just things I am sharing as most managers want to know.

We stayed in the breakers room by the quiet pool (the one with the chimney). Beautiful room, beautiful location, and an amazing staff in the place. Our first night we had an issue with the bathroom door locking and the front desk finagled security to come unlock us (to hold us over until morning). The bar had wonderful drinks and everyone at waldo’s was incredibly friendly. Loved the decor, loved the location, loved the crispy AC, loved everything about this place. The room was HUGE and comfortable, and we had our own private balcony. We’ll definitely be back as soon as possible.
The only bummer was something I don’t fault driftwood itself for at all. There was a massive group of other guests that were incredibly rude. They were loud, constantly blasting music, taking up the pool non stop until late, and kept getting into fights. At one point a fight broke out so badly we had to call the front desk. They were even spitting dip in the bushes in front of our room. It was nasty. This group was so obnoxious and rude that we couldn’t fully enjoy our stay. I’m not normally such a Karen but this group was trashy and disrespectful. Every morning there’d be trash all over the pool from things they just left there.
Overall the place is beautiful and we will want to go back. Can’t fault the driftwood for the rudeness of a family! The beautiful location, ease of access to the beach, and comfort outweighed everything.

Thank you for your review and kind words about the Driftwood Resort. I am so sorry you were subject to such a bad group of people. You can't describe the Driftwood, without using the words "quaint" and "unique." Really. You can't. The old, very casual style of the resort fits in perfectly with the beach, which is only 100 yards away from the furthest room. As a result of it's mostly haphazard layout, many rooms don't have a view at all but again, the beach is so close, it almost doesn't matter. And - they have two swimming pools. Not very big, but still, two pools. Waldo's, the onsite bar/restaurant is very good. The menu selections are original, the service good and the prices fair. You can't go wrong there. Many of the rooms are older and showing signs of their age, but overall the resort is well maintained. We'll be back.

I would love love love to love this place. I like kitsch. I like old things. I like eccentric people who build unusual things.
However, I have to say we won’t be back.
We stayed in room 218 (one of the original? buildings).
It just wasn’t clean.
The lamps were dusty. The baseboards were dusty.
The room smelled moldy.
The sliding door that blocked off the bathroom from the rest of the suite was totally off it’s track and broken.
The remote control for the TV was really sticky.
The wifi did not work the entire time we were there.
You also are required to wear these shiny “VIP” wristbands (like if you went to see live music) the entire time you are there.
Not just when you are on the property, but from the time you check in to the time you leave.
You can’t take them off and on.
No explanation why upon check in either.

The nice things were that the beach was right there and that the buildings are kitschy and unusual.

Again, I wish I could have liked this place.

I think if the room had a good cleaning I might have felt slightly better about the experience.
