The Bilmar is definitely an older hotel & shows it's age at times, but has been nicely redone. We stayed in a beachfront room with a kitchenette. It had a full size fridge, stove top, full size coffee maker. I was worried about the location of our room (second floor near the outdoor fire pits) being too noisy (I'm a light sleeper), but I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean, beds were comfy, free chair and bike checkouts. The beach is HUGE and so many seashells to pick thru. Sloppy Joes was nice to have on site for meals and drinks. The front desk staff was great. Gave us recommendations for places to go. Don't miss Middle Grounds Grill! It sounds low-key, but it's a higher end place with shading food (make a reservation). Our rental car got two low tires on the way TO the hotel, and an employee went and got his personal tool from his car to help us fix. Great!…
Let's start with the positives. The beach outside this resort is beautiful and beds are comfortable. Now negatives. Hotel is very outdated. Section we stayed in was more motel vs hotel. Shower has window (opaque block glass) where people walking by room can definitely tell that someone is taking a shower. Mold in showers. Pretty good size Crack under door. Hairdryer did not work. Had wedding block rate of $300 a night. I have traveled alot in 35 plus years and stayed in 100s of hotels. I would rate this as #3 of the worst places I have stayed.
This is our 3rd visit here! Since our last visit 5 years ago, they have done some remodels. Place looks great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our flight is a late afternoon flight so they let us check out a little later, complimentary. The beach is awesome and even saw dolphins close to shore this time. Good nearby restaurants as well. The trolly is right outside the door. Easy rides up and down the shore. Johns Pass is a hike if you want to walk, or trolly for $2.00. Overall our stay was great!
Fantastic choice. Our room was perfect. The size and so clean. There are a lot of amenities at this hotel. Location is great walkable to many things. The grounds of the hotel are well taken care of. Will definitely be back. We had a first floor walkout.
Where to begin? We had the most AMAZING experience over the past weekend. My daughter and now son-in-law wanted to be married on the beach at sunset. I have stayed at the Bilmar previously and knew it had the best sunset views and amazing rooms. We booked the Penthouse and King Suite. When I say to die for......floor to ceiling windows, double balconies. etc. we also did not give previous the Bilmar previous knowledge of the wedding as we planned it and were doing it ourself. Upon checking in I advised what we were doing and asked if they had a cart we could use for chairs. The manager on duty Alicia jumped in without hesitation got us a cart as well as an employee Jonathan to help us. When I tell you Jonathan was the MOST AMAZING EMPLOYEE EVER.....its an understatement. I cannot express enough how OVER and BEYOND Jonathan was start to finish. He is the definition of ASSET TO THE COMPANY, Employee of the Month-Year. He even stayed stayed after his off time and helped up break down the chairs, arch, all of it. He left when we left and for someone to go that far to assist is someone you want working for your company. He deserves an award, and much praise and appreciation. Bilmar is not only an amazing place to stay, has the best sunset/sunrise views but the staff is out of this world AMAZING. We cannot thank you enough and can't wait to come back again. …
Excellent location. I did not expect the extra $30 a night amenity fee. Taxes and amenity fee came to about $48 a night. Service was poor. Employees were around but expect to wait. Wifi was very good. TV was locked down. It is a nice Samsung TV, but the remote was not the standard remote. I could not enter into any TV functions, like hooking up my Bluetooth Ear Buds. No headphone jack either. My wife does not want to hear the TV when i watch, so i was out of luck to watch tv. And no hdmi connection to connect a Fire TV or Roku. Lots of channels but who watches that anymore? I stream my programs, so I ended up watching my tablet instead of the TV and using wireless ear buds with that. The beach is very nice. Workers rake the sand every morning. Showers were available to wash sand off feet and rinse salt water off when you come in from the breach. It was a long walk to the water and they had chairs you could carry with you. Or there was a pleasant guy on the beach that would rent an umbrella and two lounge chairs for $40 for the whole day. Then you would not have to carry chairs down there. Chairs were out by the resort building and by the two pools and one spa. The spa was small, but not many people were around. Pool was heated, perfect temp, and water quality perfect, clear and nice. Pool and spa was open until 10 pm. I liked that. They had a great restaurant on the end of the building called Sloppy Joe's. The food was excellent and pricing reasonable. They also sell breakfast there. Steak and eggs for $16.99. Check out specials too. I got a delicious fish sandwich for $9.99 with homestyle potato chips. Lots of games, like bean bag toss, and others I did not know what they were. A very nice wide sidewalk along beach to run in mornings or ride bikes. We brought electric bikes and had fun riding them on both the sidewalk and the beach right on water's edge. The water at the beach had lots of life. I saw huge schools of black drum, angel fish, sting rays, pin fish, fundulus minnows, etc. Plenty of shells on the beach left by tides. I even found a fossilized bird bone. There is a Publix grocery store practically across the street and many stores and restaurants.…
We stayed in one of the penthouses for our 10 year anniversary. We have stayed at Bilmar before as a family and really enjoyed it. We decided to go back for our anniversary and we were not disappointed! Beautiful penthouse with amazing views. Close to Sloppy Joe's, pool and beach access. We had a wonderful time!
I went for a weekend vacation with my fiancé. I’ve stayed here a few times over the past 20 years. The location is really good. It has a little of everything. Clean rooms. I’ve paid more for less. The only thing I would change is the bathroom tissue is low quality. But overall I really enjoyed my stay. I had a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and Shaunna even gave me a discount coupon for the jet skis at John’s Pass. This is my spot from now on. I look forward to more stays.
Older property but very well kept. 1st floor rooms are wonderful except noisy with elevators, pool, bar think the cleaning staff meets here to stock up.(rm137/138) Safety lights in walkway nice but lit up entire room at night.
This hotel is awesome great views close to restaurants and shops within walking distance The staff our so friendly and helpful They provide chairs and yes they can go in the water which I like very much They also provide bikes to ride What a awesome place to stay
