We recently visited Treasure Island for a family vacation and stayed at The Tahitian. We were very disappointed by the standard of housekeeping . We were in 3 different rooms(just the way it worked out.) and the floors were so dirty that your sock were black and covered with sand. The air conditioner in one room was so loud it made it hard to sleep. Numerous lights were either broken or the light bulbs were missing. Every TV had to have the input programmed every time you turned it on. There was no water pressure in the showers and some did not operate properly. If you book the bayside be prepared. It is across and up the busy street from the main hotel, therefore your wifi will not work, housekeeping will take an extended break before they wait for you to return from a busy day out to come and knock on your door (late afternoon) wanting to clean and the ice machine is located back at the main hotel as well as the pool and ocean. Staff was very nice and polite, but you never saw a result.…
We came in March, we actually visit this property once to twice a year, one of my favorites. The Tahitian has a lot of charm, great location, clean, however, the reason we come back is because of the great customer service! Ben and Melody are amazing, they both go out of their way to make our stay memorable. They truly do everything in excellence!!! How lucky Tahitian is to have such caring and accommodating employees. We will def be back next year....
Lovely old style motel with an excellent location: It has direct access to the beach and lies within a walkable distance to two best restaurants on Treasure Island (Middle Grounds Grill and Sloppy Joe), plus to Walgreens and Publix (a large supermarket). This is a great option for those who choose not to rent a car. We got to the motel from Tampa airport by Uber for $30, which was quite affordable for a 40-minute drive. The motel is cozy and clean. If you have a choice, I would highly recommend getting one of the rooms facing the beach since the view of the Gulf from the porch is gorgeous! We stayed in room 168 with a king bed and a kitchenette, and it worked out perfectly for us. The motel provided all necessary amenities including beach towels. There is a sizable pool for adults and a small pool for kids. But the main asset of this place is the staff! We happened to stay there during the week of uncertainty and anxiety in the wake of the global coronavirus outbreak. As many countries started closing their borders and air companies were canceling international flights, we also had to change our travel plans and had to stay for additional three nights before we were able to get on our homebound flight. Despite the difficult circumstances in which the staff had to work (nervous customers, heightened cleaning protocols, cancellations, and the possibility of being shut down and ultimately out of work at any point), the staff made us feel most welcome and attended to all our needs and requests. The manager Edra Morgan was tremendously helpful and generous and made every effort to make us feel comfortable by giving us the best room she had. Since we were there with my mom, who belonged to the high-risk group, those three additional days in the relaxing comfort of our gorgeous room and on the beach made a huge difference to us and (I believe) not only saved our nervous cells but also kept us from getting sick - which might have happened were we to spend that time before our departure elsewhere. I really hope that once this pandemic ordeal is over, the motel reopens with the same dedicated staff, and we’ll be able to say ‘thank you!’ to all of them once again when we are back!…
We stay in the courtyard area which is mostly snowbirds. We enjoy all of the staff at the Tahitian, everyone is happy and friendly. Melody is a great asset, with her excited hello when she see's we have arrived. If you need anything, just ask her and it magically appears. She is a breath of fresh air every day! Edra & Ben are great helps in the office. Ron & Richard (D) are your go to people for maintenance. If any problems arise, they were there to fix it. Ron is an extremely helpful and a talented maintenance person! We hope to be returning for many years! The sunsets on the beach are stunning and you don't have to leave the patio area!
We have stayed at The Tahitian for several years now. We want to share how lucky The Tahitian is to have Melody on their housekeeping staff!! She is a breath of fresh air every time you see her. She is always asking if there is something she can get you and never seems to forget a face. She is a real gem and I hope the owners realize what a asset they have in her. Also Tracy did a wonderful job on our room.
