Things went so well until AFTER the trip. The staff was friendly at first. But I should've known that the trip would go downhill based on how the caretaker fussed at my guests. I walked in the house on my arrival and found the stove cracked and never made a comment about it. Then, I spend hours cleaning the place and get an email a week later saying my deposit is forfeited. Prior to my check-in, they spent days upgrading the doors to code and the caretaker informs me the city wanted the place up to code. So I wondered why there was a crack in a major appliance. Then, she emails me saying everything was okay. Until the following weekend, she accuses my group of cracking the stove and I forfeit the deposit. So, i just want everyone to know. This caretaker (who will remain nameless here) will take your money and keep it and use it for upgrades. Find other homes on the beach to rent and skip this one. I won't be back. And neither will the hundreds of people I know as the word spreads.

We rented one of the smaller units which was perfect for my husband and myself. All the amenities we needed were there. Nothing beats parking your car right in front of your door, and the back door gives out to sand and ocean. Clean, peaceful, just great. We said goodbye to our dolphin friends but we will return!!!! Great for children of all ages too :)

My *now husband!* and I searched for a house that would accommodate our wedding. Being a destination wedding, we had approximately 75 guests. We found the Sunset Beach House, and though not initially in love with the house itself (back in December of 2013 when I first visited) we did instantly fall heads over heels in love with the location and the AMAZING backyard.

This beautiful private beach yard falls directly on Sunset Beach and the ocean. At night in bed, you can hear the waves crashing and there is nothing in the world more soothing.

After my contract was signed, the house underwent some management changes and the new property manager got to work completely overhauling the house and this became a total turning point for this location.

When I returned for my wedding in April of 2015, I was floored by all the changes. Brand new roof, new patio/deck/stair cases. All the carpets had been ripped up and replaced with beautiful dark wood (lamina i believe) flooring and fresh coats of paint everywhere. Colorful lawn chairs that create a fun and playful atmosphere. There were even beach toys (boards and noodles, etc.) for the kids to play with.

The bedspreads were updated and the furniture is in the process of being upgraded as well. Everything looked so fantastic. All in all...my heart just swelled with excitement and just overall feel good jitters about how beautiful it all was and how I couldn't believe my good fortune.

On Saturday, April 2015, we transformed the backyard into the perfect ceremony space. It easily fit 9 60" tables, our dance floor, catering tables (3) cocktail tables (4) and we still had room to set up our bean bag game. Lights were strung up, a photobooth back drop was hung and the space was decorated. My wedding was beachy and edgy and just exactly what I pictured. My dream wedding began with the perfect location.

Thank you Sunset Beach House! I absolutely recommend this venue.

Every tall surface was covered in dust. The cleaning people only hit stuff you can see. It was more like they straightened than actually cleaned.

Fans didn’t work. Most of the lights were burnt out. Blood on sheets.

Had someone working on property that was coughing non stop. When the owner arrived on site she said “ stay away from me, did you get a negative test yet”. He said no. So basically they don’t care about the safety of their guests. We had to spray down anything he touched and we were trapped inside for an entire day. He was working from 8-8.

We reached out to management company (before we knew the person was the owner) but they said that they worked for the owner not them there was nothing they could do. So the point of contact they give is no help.

The last day we were there they had group after group of wedding planners and their clients touring the property. Showing no respect for our privacy or personal space. They were loud and rude. Making comments like we would show you all the bungalows but unfortunately there are guests.

The morning we were leaving was the only day we were up before daylight and when we turned on lights there were cockroaches.

Shared this rental unit with another reviewer, but had a different perspective. Had an awesome experience at a location I've reviewed at Indian Shores, and maybe I'm used to dealing with hotels as I stay many, many nights in hotels. So when it comes to cleanliness, it needs to close for a week and a deep cleaning. My bedroom floor, corners, etc. hadn't seen a vacuum for a while. I wished I hadn't looked under the bed to see if I had forgotten anything. A glance behind the chest of drawers revealed the same thing.... As my grandma would say, "there was enough dust to build Adam." Additionally I had cold showers in the middle of the night when no one else was using the hot water; not sure what the cause of that was. Then comes what is supposed to be a fully stocked kitchen. Well it is, unless you actually cook; no mixing bowls, no measuring cups, spatula's etc. Sure there were frying pans and wine glasses, but I wasn't planning on bacon and wine. I even purchased a hand mixer because there was so little to work with. Then comes the issue of the stove. Now I cooked on all the burners and the owner said afterwards that there was a crack in the ceramic top of the stove so they kept the $300.00 deposit. Now my friend said he saw the crack upon arrival. I never noticed it. So either it was there before and so minor that I didn't notice and it definitely didn't impact use of the appliance. But there was certainly nothing major or damage on our part. I did request pictures of the damage but received no response. I encouraged the owner to re-visit the decision, to provide proof and/or return the deposit. It's just not right. Additionally, in today's day and age, there is no reason not to facilitate electronic payments. There was a fiasco over a mailed check. But even if you don't want to do credit cards, there's always Paypal. Now looking back, I'd opt for a much more legitimate rental. The house did have some cool décor, especially the living room, and it is right on the beach... but do you want the hassle and or something better. Also, before you sign a contract, insert terms for proof of damage and a form similar to a rental car that you mark all damage upon arrival so you aren't surprised afterwards and have no method of recourse.

Their website has an availability calendar for each suite and you can book directly from the site. The calendar for every single suite shows that all of them are available for the dates my family is vacationing. Rather than immediately book, we wanted to ask questions first. Days ago, I used the contact box on their site to send a message. Never got a reply. So my husband called one morning and the voicemail said we'd get a return call in 24 hours and, in the meantime, I sent an email in case that's the preferred way to contact. But no call came the next day and I never received an email back. So after two days, my husband called again and left another voicemail stating this was his second call and his wife had emailed. He got a call back saying they're all booked for all of March and all of April. Well, that's the opposite of what the website says...

I just can't appreciate not receiving a quick reply when everyone else we've contacted replies well before 24 hours have passed and also can't appreciate that either their website is blatantly incorrect or they've given us misinformation.

I stayed at the Sunset Beach House for one week in February. The whole experience was delightful. It’s a beautiful oasis in a highly developed beach area. For those who have any mobility problems, it’s only about 80 steps from the back door to splish-splashing in the Gulf of Mexico. The sunsets were so fabulous—I think in two days I took 500 photos. The beach is lovely either way you go. I took a walk in the morning and at sunset. Caddy’s On the Beach Restaurant is a very short walk—I went there twice to pick up a carryout. Everything at the Sunset Beach House looks exactly as depicted on the website. The bed was comfortable and the décor very beachy. I never got tired of the view. Beach Hugger 3 is awesome—you can sit at the kitchen table and just breathe in the stunning view. Leaving for the airport before sunrise I saw the most amazing full moon scene on the beach. (Photo number 999.) As a vacation area, the beach was never crowded—very enjoyable. The biggest crowd on the beach was closer to the main intersection near the Bilmar. I’ve traveled to Florida in either January or February escaping the cold north for many years and this property is just ideal. When I called, there was a special discount so the price was great and I received my rental deposit back very quickly. In fact, I should probably have told them to keep it for next year.

We stayed in the treehouse over Easter week 2015. This location is amazing! Its steps away from Caddys and the tiki bar and just a few miles from St. Pete's beach. The best part is though you literally have the gulf in your backyard and it is very private. The Treehouse had everything we needed for two couples, while at the same time giving us our own space. If we needed anything or had questions, we easily called the woman in charge. Usually, it appears most people stay a few months over the winter months so this place is well maintained. I'd highly recommend!

Sunset Beach is a small beach in a quaint area of Treasure Island. The gulf waters are clear, no signs of jelly fish. Dolphins swim not far from shore. There's a lot of road construction and detours. Its still accessible, but a bit noisy. That's my reason for giving it a 4 not 5.

I looked for the closest off the beaten path and closest to the water cottage type location for two seasons and found it. We wanted an old Florida feel. No condo!
Girl family trip with my 87 year young Mama. Comfortable beds, clean, ceramic tile update, fresh paint, foot bath outside each door for the sand ...and great seashells the kids found. Walked a block to a great restaurant, Caddies, on the beach. Stacy was a great host!
This was the first time in at least 30 years Mama was able to touch the white sand! Happy!
