The Aloft hotel in downtown Tampa is a modern style hotel in an excellent location. The hotel is overlooking the river and wonderful river walk. The Aloft has a nice pool area which is perfect for families and is close to several downtown restaurants and attractions and a five minute walk to the free tram service on Franklin Street. We stayed in room 417 which had great views of the river. The room had a huge king bed, mini fridge and safe. The shower was ok...the tile flooring in the shower is rather slick and therefore a little hazardous. The lighting in the bedroom could have been better, but overall we enjoyed our stay. Hotel manager Raleigh was excellent and provided us with fantastic service not to mention extra towels, bottled water etc. we would definitely stay at the Aloft in downtown Tampa again.…
Ron, the bartender, was exceptional! He regaled us with tales of his pet chickens as a child growing up in Ybor City. He definitely provided a lot of laughs and was the highlight of the stay! The room was also nice, and I was upgraded to a river view as a Titanium member.
The refrigerator was a freezer. I had challenges getting my room cleaned, and it would have been so nice if hotel offered shuttle service to David A Stars center, since there was a large convention going on the entire week.
We stayed here last weekend for a quick getaway. Booked the hotel based on its location to the downtown riverwalk. We booked a room with a balcony. Must valet or park at a city lot and walk at least two blocks. Check-in was smooth although the keys they gave us did not unlock the door and had to make a trip back down to the desk. First thing we noticed was the hallway near our room had not been vacuumed and there was trash on the floor. Room was big, but sparsely furnished. There were water bottle caps and trash between the beds and the place had not been adequately vacuumed. The balcony was big and had a great view, but looked like it had NEVER been cleaned. There was spilled liquids on the ground and the chairs and table were FILTHY, would not even sit in them. We then went to the pool and it was small but okay. There were several people hanging around the pool who appeared to have just came up from the street and were just hanging out drinking from styrofoam cups and smoking. Clearly not guests of the hotel, just taking advantage of the unlocked gate that led to the street. Amazing they would allow that. Beds were okay but the room next door to us were loudly arguing until about 5 am. There was also a pungent odor of marijuana on our floor from the other rooms. We are not prudes and are okay with marijuana, but none of these people were smoking on the balcony, they were smoking in their rooms. This place is WAY overpriced and is more like a 2 star type of hotel. Would never stay here again. We saw other hotels on the riverwalk which I'm sure would be better choices.…
I never do reviews but this was not what I expected. Room had a bad scent the entire trip. Water in shower was either boiling hot or freezing. Location good, pool nice but not up to Marriott standards. Staff was friendly.
