My daughter and I stayed here for the weekend, to be as close as possible to the convention center for Metrocon. She was hosting a panel at 1pm, so we arrived at the hotel around 11:45am, to see when we could check in (I was guessing around the normal time of 4). The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, would store our luggage, and text me when the room was ready. They had overbooked, so my 2 double beds room was no longer available. For that they offered not only a king suite (at the same rate as the double), they took off $50 per night! I would've been happy with just the suite, so getting a total of $100 off for our stay was icing on the cake! I was pleasantly surprised when I received this text at 1:15. Our suite was so nice! Lots of room for just the 2 of us - a pullout sofa bed (in case my daughter was tired of my snoring), plenty of closet space, 2 TVs, a mini fridge, microwave, "kitchen" sink and the comfy separate bedroom. It was clean and well-stocked with towels. The skybridge connecting the hotel to the convention center made getting to and from it a breeze. For both days we were there, we had a complimentary drink offer during their happy hour, as well as a complimentary breakfast, which was a full buffet of breakfast items. I didn't get my drinks, but the breakfast was very nice, with quite an assortment from which to choose. The hotel staff - from the valets, to the front desk, the bellmen and breakfast staff couldn't have been more lovely, professional and helpful! One example - I called to have a bellman take our luggage back to storage right before we checked out (so we could spend some time at the convention's final day). It sounded like there was quite a line of guests ahead of me, so we decided to run down an get our breakfast. Once back, I called the front desk to see where I was in queue, and she said a bellman already came by but no one answered. Instead of sounding irritated with me for inconveniencing the bellman at a very busy time, the young lady at the desk simply said she'd get a bellman back up to me, and it took no time at all before he was back! He was so nice, and I'm embarrassed to admit this - he apologized to me a couple of times for not getting the luggage - I told him it was all my fault, and there we were, apologizing to each other, LOL. After a couple hours at the con, we went back to get our luggage and get our car from valet parking. The same bellman helped me get our luggage out and told me what I needed to do to get my car (there was quite a line of people waiting, and I would've waited in that line, holding my claim ticket had he not told me, not realizing they had already turned in their tickets and were just waiting for their cars to be delivered). I gave him a big hug, he was so sweet. The only irritations I had - the only restaurant at the hotel, Taste, had limited dinner choices for very high prices and is not kid friendly (I relied on Uber Eats and Outback takeout for lunch and dinner). I don't believe Taste is under the management of the hotel, so it's nothing against Embassy. Also, if you are attending a convention or maybe just staying there for its proximity to everything, you must be patient while waiting on the elevators. There are 17 floors, and while there are, I think, 4 elevators, it can take a few minutes to get up or down (and if there are hundreds of people staying there for a convention, you could wait a while). But, as I said, those were just minor irritations. I would absolutely stay here again!

What a lovely hotel, the staff were so helpful, we turned up at 10am, the room was ready for $25 we could use the room from then (which we did), beautiful room 2 of the biggest TV's I have seen in any hotel. The beds were so comfortable, the sitting room had a nice sofa and chair with a desk and coffee table, nice small kitchen area, nice bathroom too (if a little small). The pool area is nice, smallish pool and did not have any parasols around the pool to get out of the sun which was my only criticism. There was a wonderful happy hour in the evening which was free and a lovely free breakfast. We did not use the valet parking, we parked ourselves (next to the hotel) for $18 dollars overnight stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Booked this hotel last October for an event at Amalie Arena. Arrived at 3:30 pm for check in. Lobby was packed with people and luggage. Line to check in was almost out the front door. Waited in line for an hour before we even got to front desk. Was offered a complimentary upgrade to a renovated room on upper floor. It wasn't until we checked in and credit card charged that we were informed that the upgraded room wasn't ready yet and could take up to an hour but would mostly likely be a 15 minute wait. They would text me as soon as room was ready. Never received text. At 5:45 pm checked with front desk about our room. Was told it wasn't ready and it could take up to an hour for it to be ready. 7 pm still no text, went back to front desk to check on room. Room was ready. For our inconvenience the front desk rep gave us 20,000 honors points that would be credited to my account after check out. Got into our room 30 minutes before the concert started. Room was on upper floor, but not renovated nor cleaned well. Chair so broken couldn't even sit on it. Carpets had not been vacuumed, floors sticky, A/C not cooling. But, I guess we should be grateful we got a room because there was a long line of people still trying to check in once the concert was over at 11 p.m. I have stayed at this property in the past and have always recommended it to people who are going the Amalie or downtown. Never Again! Oh, and to add insult to injury the 20,000 honor points were never added to my account.

Hello, Thank you for taking time to share your feedback from your recent stay. We thank you for the opportunity to welcome you back as a returning guest. However, we are very disappointed to hear of your experience. We sincerely apologize for the wait time you experienced during check-in. Our team works very diligently to ensure guestrooms are ready for check-in and we are very sorry we fell short during your visit. Please be assured this is not the level of service we aim to deliver and we will certainly pass on your feedback to our respective department leaders so that we may improve upon our service delivery. Please send your contact details to TPAES_Embassy@hilton.com so that we may look into your Hilton Honors points credit. Thank you for your feedback and we hope we get another opportunity to welcome you back. Thank you. Damir Sejdic Operations Manager Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center

I’m a Hilton Honors member and I’ve always had positive experiences at Embassy Suites. Our problems with this hotel can be boiled down to a lack of concern for actual customer needs. We arrived on 7/6/19 and learned Valet Parking (at $30 a night including taxes) was mandatory. Upon arrival, I looked around for help with our bags and saw others struggling with their bags and nobody offering to help. So I assume bell service is not available at this hotel. When we checked in at 4:20PM, we were told our reserved, renovated room was not ready as promised and she had no idea when it would be ready. Seriously, she could not estimate if it was going to be 1 hour or 10 hours. I explained that we had plans for the evening and would they hold the room until we returned around 1 or 2 AM. The clerk offered to secure our baggage and they’d contact me via phone when the room was ready. However, I was informed that if I didn’t check in within an hour of being notified, my room may not be held. I should have left at that point, but after some negotiation, I was offered an older non-renovated room on the 5th floor. The room was not what I reserved and wanted, but it was available for immediate check-in so I wouldn't have to wait in the lobby for hours. This room cost about 15% less. I don’t know if the renovated rooms are better, but our room was a major disappointment. A/C and hot water were barely adequate and took a long time to reach desired temperatures. The hot water never actually got hot. The black-out curtains could not be closed completely (about a 2 inch gap), so the street lights and Convention Center kept the room really bright all night. Sleeping was difficult. The plumbing had serious problems. Every time we flushed the toilet, it made a loud, high pitched whining sound that lasted about a minute ( I timed it). My wife and I couldn’t flush the toilet at night without waking the other. Housekeeping did a good job. The room was clean and the linen and towels were newer. The bed was very firm (the way we prefer). The safe, refrigerator and microwave worked well. TV’s were a little small. They don't have enough elevators. We saw long lines for elevators going up a couple for times, and we had to wait several times to find one going down that had room available. The Embassy Suites free breakfasts are good and a real value add with eggs made to order and most sides you can get at a Denny’s. However, there is inadequate seating areas in this hotel. Around 9:00AM on both days, we saw a lot of people holding their plates in their laps and eating in the lobby. When I called to retrieve my car Monday morning, I learned you can’t call from your room to have your car retrieved in advance, you must go the garage and present your ticket. So, on Monday morning, we stood and waited in the garage for 40 minutes to get our car (this is the service I paid $60 for). If you stay at this hotel, you should seriously consider parking someplace else and using Uber to get around. You’ll spend less time and money. Also, insist on a renovated room but plan to wait hours before it’s ready for check in. Embassy Suites is usually my first choice, but in this case, I’d recommend you go somewhere that has a little more focus on meeting service commitments, like reserved rooms, check-in times, bell service, valet service, etc.

The room was very nice like usual for this hotel. It is also had great views of the bay from the walkways. The best part of the stay is the room. Front desk staff isn’t very helpful. The hot breakfast and happy hour is nice.
