I have probably stayed at this hotel 10 times and it’s always first class and outstanding. Rooms are very well appointed. The front desk staff have been great and were particularly friendly and courteous on my last visit. The great thing about this hotel is the access to the bars and restaurants at International Plaza which is literally steps away. This is a wonderful choice for a Hotel if visiting the Tampa Bay Area!
Good location, but that’s about it. Limited services, limited food options & cleanliness is questionable. Fitness room is small & equipment lacks. There is a conference & the outdoor music is vibrating the 8th floor walls & windows. Management could care less. Club lounge hours very limited even for water, sodas & coffee. Better options out there.
Well, i can seed that by the location it is the place to stay when at the airport. Having said that, the rooms, lobby/bar need some serious TLC. The amount of “Nats or fruit flies” in the bar area was rather excessive. The food was okay. The room was okay. The ironing board was as most are, in need of repair. Bed was comfy, wifi worked well. The staff are very helpful they need need a property that they don’t have to keep apologizing for. Will prolly stay at a different place next visit..
You have to park in valet parkinb for $24/ day ++ theres NO parking in front or nearby. , only valet! You have to park in general mall parking if you dont want to pay $$$$ for parking closeby! Rooms are just ok. Nothing that meets the $236 I paid ! GO ELSEWHERE !
I can’t believe the decent reviews of this hotel, my experience was below average. First, there are rats in the ceiling (I’m on the fourth floor and they’re scurrying at night). Second, the A/C fan doesn’t stay on auto - this really bothers me so basically I wake up every 2 hours to a slamming door or rats scurrying without the white noise of a fan. Third, the breakfast staff, while nice are a total disaster (one woman in 3 nights made a good macchiato and seemed to be the boss, without her, I couldn’t drink my $8 burnt cappuccino). I’m not impressed and wouldn’t stay here again. 1 star for location to airport and 1 star for a hot shower / equipped room.
Stayed here while attending a concert at the Ray Jay. Took a shuttle over and walked back…about 1.8 miles. It’s located with great shopping and places to eat right next door. Pool area is small but nice. Work out room is excellent . Shuttle will take you to Lido beach, St Armand’s Circle and Almost anyplace within reason.
Valet parking (fee) or self parking (free) available with a short walk. The hotel is tucked into the corner directly next to a high-end mall and several restaurants. It is not physically attached to the mall but connected my a short outdoor sidewalk. No need to walk a crossed any large parking lots or shuttle. You take the stairs from the lobby to the second floor and walk down the long corridor to a door that looks like, well I guess is, a side entrance. It takes you right to an outdoor sidewalk next to the mall. I didn’t see any signage to this but the front desk will provide directions if asked. The king room had a very comfortable bed and pillows along with a refrigerator and coffee/tea service. For those that like tea but don’t drink coffee, there are a few tea bags provided but be prepared for your tea to have a coffee taste. Even after running 2 cups of water through, my tea still tasted like coffee. The room had the small brewer that seems to be at all Marriott brand hotels that provide in room coffee/tea. I wonder if these are ever cleaned as the brewing causes splashing which places residue on the machine which clearly is evident when running just water through. Coffee grounds are then in the cup of water and/or the water is shaded light brown. :( The shower was good and pressure fine. They provided Aveda toiletries which was really nice. The courtyard area looked pleasant. They do have a restaurant on site available for breakfast and dinner along with a very small sundries area that does offer beer and wine.…
Wonderful experience from start to finish. I had decided to fly in a day early for a business trip and the Renaissance did not disappoint. There was a complementary shuttle bus from the airport, so I didn’t need to Uber. At the hotel I thought I was at a resort. Accommodations exceeded my expectations. And dining at the in house restaurant was very satisfying. The next day at checkout the hostess Zuleika was delightful. She helped me get coffee and a bite to eat since the restaurant was closed until lunch. 10/10 Marriott!
The close proximity to the airport & international plaza is very convenient. Rooms are very clean and the staff is friendly! Nice selection of restaurants and shopping very near. The hotel restaurant area is a bit small but the courtyard is lovely.
I have stayed here several times and I really appreciate the location, but the combination of high prices, dated property and a disregard for Bonvoy elite brand standards will keep me from returning here often. Their lounge is open again but the food was subpar and as a Bonvoy Ambassador, the feel I got was much more along the line of excuses. There are a lot of great choices in the area not far from here, and I know many organizations like the Bucs use this property so it's possible transient guests are not as important to them. It's a shame.
