The first room that we were assigned was filthy and smelled like smoke, there were ashes on the sofa and clearly someone had smoked in the room because there was air purifier on the room. #715. Went to front desk the guy was so polite and understanding and immediately offered to switch our room. Got to room 214. Immediately upon walking in could sense no one smoked because the air had better quality. That said, that was the best thing about the room. Bathrooms were not cleaned. A foot towel was still on the floor in one bathroom with foot prints in it. The other bathroom had a hand towel that looked to be recently used. Towels had not been replenished in the room. There were 3 wash clothes in the suite. Surfaces were stained and had a layer of dust so I could tell immediately that they had not been wiped down. The second bedroom sheets were stained. And to top things off, human specimen was on the seat of the toilet in one of the bathrooms. This by far was the worst experience I’ve ever had with Marriott. Prior to Covid I traveled often for work, Marriott has always been the preferred choice for stays and when traveling for leisure. It’s hard to believe that hotel is Marriott. Definitely not living up to the standards or commitment to cleanliness. The front desk explained that the hotel only had 2 maids and they were having a hard time keeping up with the work. That is completely unacceptable especially given the fact that the world is living through a pandemic. This has to be addressed immediately, public health is at risk.

Dear carlawG6081EU, Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback which allows us to continuously improve our hotel. I assure you that our team has investigated the situation and found that this was a front desk error and not a housekeeping issue. While our team is understaffed due to a national labor shortage, we are committed to cleanliness and the safety of our guests. On behalf of my entire team, we apologize for the experience you encountered and hope to restore your trust in our brand. Denise Kauble

This hotel and the staff was amazing! We arrived in Tampa at 9am and the hotel was kind enough to help us by letting us check into our room super early. The room was very nice, we had a 1 bedroom suite. It had a full kitchen with frig, microwave, dishwasher, stove top, and all the kitchen utensils. I loved having a living room with the bedroom separated. The kids slept in the living room on the pull out couch (it’s not bad for kids to sleep on but not adults). The bed was super comfy and the room very clean. The pool area was very nice and clean with a fire pit, gas grill, and basketball court. The hotel provides pool towels, everything you need to grill out (except the food of course), and they have a basketball. I loved all the palm trees and plants on the courtyard it made it feel like I was at my own little tropical resort. The hotel is conveniently located right downtown with all kinds of restaurants and stores in walking distance and Clearwater Beach is only about 30-40 mins away. The hotel charges $22 a day for parking but we was able to find parking across the street for only $9 a night. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be staying again the next time I’m in Tampa.

First stay at this property. It is located right in the heart of downtown and super close to the river. Parking can be fun as their lot that they share with the Courtyard is on the opposite corner of the property and can be a problem if raining. You will need to drop your stuff off first is you you have more than one person as the street is busy and the lights take a while to change. The front desk staff were nice and helpful. There were a number of times where we did not see anyone at the front desk during the stay. My guess is since they lock the doors due to cover they feel comfortable leaving it unattended. Our room was very nice. we had a 2 bedroom suite which was nice since we had 3 kids with us.The room was comfortable but looked like it was in need of an upgrade at some point. Plenty of places to eat nearby within walking distance which was great. They still are doing the grab and go service for breakfast. I have stayed at other hotel brands which have full seated breakfast or was up and get a full breakfast. Marriott need to make some changes in this department. We enjoyed staying here and would do so again.

Dear Charles1019, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. This property does not currently share it's parking lot, but we know that parking in Downtown is tough. We are anxiously awaiting the opening of the new garage parking lot, in August, that will be directly across from the property. Due to Covid and labor shortages, our team is wearing many hats which is the reason they aren't always at the desk and the reason breakfast is still limited. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the location. We hope to see you again in the future. Denise Kauble

We brought in the new year in a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite at the Residence Inn. We originally planned to stay at a Marriott property on the riverfront but last minute switched because the other was sold out and we didn’t think it would be safe to social distance with a packed hotel in a part of town with lots of celebrations going on. Overall we were pleased with our decision. This part of downtown was not too crowded, nor was the hotel. This stay gave me my 49 and 50th night to make Platinum status for 2021. As usual I checked in on the app and was notified early in the morning that our room was ready. When we arrived at 2pm, we were told our room was not ready but only had to wait a few minutes for it to be ready. I’m guessing the room they had ready for us was given away to someone else then we were given a different one on a low floor with a loud construction view. Nice. My profile says highest floor possible. The room itself was spacious. It looked like it was cleaned with one dirty rag. Everything kind of looked smudged and foggy. I brought my own alcohol wipes and went over the entire suite upon entry and bought some dish soap to rewash all the smudged dishes before using them. Two of the three TVs were not connected correctly so we had to call someone to fix them. One of the two bathrooms had a leaky faucet in the tub and a very slow toilet that didn’t flush well. I did not bother reporting these items. The important thing was the beds were comfortable and the A/C worked well. Continental breakfast was handed out from the front desk in premade boxes and coffee was available. Overall the hotel met our needs with comfortable beds, a spacious suite and a great location. The property looks a little worn around the edges and gets only average marks on cleanliness.

Very convenient location if you want/need to be downtown Tampa. Very helpful and professional staff at this pet friendly hotel. During COVID it was self parking (which I prefer) across the street. Hard to find the first time around, but once you find it, it's very convenient and there are short term spots in front of the hotel for check in/out. The area is under contruction (not the hotel itself) so there are cranes everywhere and some day time noise. It ends at 5pm and does not include any banging, but you would not want to spend the whole day in your room here. This will end of course at some point. WIFI was good enough to get things done. Close to everything downtown. Room and bathroom felt tired, lacking a feeling of being clean and fresh and need renovation (public areas had been renovated already). The kitchen had what you needed. Right behind the Riverwalk which is great. For runners, cross the bridge into South Tampa which is a little more residential.
