Perhaps that should have been a clue. This place is really run down. Our room has gross red stains through the carpet, the couch had a big rip in it, and the place was sticky all over. Really sad to see how poorly it has been cared for.

Friendly staff at check-in and the hotel looks very nice. The pool is being renovated and it is not specified anywhere in the Choice Hotels website or app. Our room was nice and clean, but when we came at night, the AC was at 85F. I called Front Desk - it was past midnight and the lady said that all their ACs act up all the time and that there is nothing she could do and that there were no more rooms available, but I could stay awake until 2am and wait for the next maintenance employee who started their shift at that time. I thought her remark was a bit condescending and in this situation her sarcasm was not appreciated. I requested to speak to a manager and she actually called and we were patched in. He then requested the front desk lady to move us to another room. We met her in the lobby and without any eye contact or courtesy to us, she walked us to our new room. This room was nice and comfortable. Check out was at 11am - the typical. By 10:30, someone knocked the door and five minutes later, they knocked again. I have mixed feelings about this hotel, because it's a quasi nice affordable option, but at the same time when you are told without any concern or sense of urgency that all the AC units in the hotel act up all the time, it's time for managers to look into re-training their employees and also getting an HVAC contract and have these units checked.

Great stay!! The amenities are great...except the continental breakfast leaves alot to be desired(not complaining, it is free after all). Housekeeping is GREAT! Location is very easy to navigate from major highway, and in close proximity to any and everything

Review collected in partnership with Choice Hotels
The rooms were very spacious, clean and well lit. The staff was friendly and professional. The free morning breakfast was much better than most without having an short order cook. The fitness room had quality equipment and all were in great shape.

We booked and paid for an accessible room on 2/5/19. Got a email confirmation on 2/10/19. I called to verify and make sure that it was an accessible room with a walk-in shower and if it was possible to get one close to the entrance - I was told yes! Got a email for Reservation Reminder on 2/21/19 - I called again because I saw a Tub. I again informed them that I cannot get into a tub because of my disability. I was told again that it was a walk-in shower. I called the hotel at 3:48 on 2/21/19 to let them we were running late. We checked in at 7:03pm. The room was not close to the entrance so it took a while for me to get to the room because I was told they didn’t have a wheelchair. When we finally got to the room I sat down on a chair... our suitcases were still in our vehicle. My husband then told me it was not a walk-in shower, it was a tub. I immediately called the front office at exactly 7:07pm to let her know that the room is not handicap accessible and I was not being accommodated as I was promised. I told her AGAIN that I will not be able to step up in a tub. She then said that her manager said she should refund us for the one night. Because of my Neurological disorder that affects my balance and walking, I didn’t want to have to find another hotel for one night and then return to Comfort Suites Sawgrass for the rest of our stay. She never mentioned anything about their so called policies to us. I immediately called another hotel and was told that they have accessible rooms with walk-in showers. But because we didn’t have a reservation with them, we would have to get there quickly in order to secure the room. The other hotel was less than 2 minutes away. We hurried to the hotel and checked in. When we went back to Comfort Suites Sawgrass, they tried to refund us for one night and I told her that I would not be staying there because we had to get another hotel. I was not given the room I requested and unfortunately I cannot be going back and forth from one hotel to another. She didn’t explained or said anything to me. She said she refunded our money but never gave me a receipt. I asked her for a copy of the receipt. When I looked at the receipt, I noticed we were charged over $150 for one night. I told her we were not even in that room for 5 minutes. My husband asked to speak to the manager and she stated that the manager could not talk to my husband over the phone because it was not professional. Why was there not a manager on duty at this hotel?) I told her I wanted my money back and because of the stress I immediately started having seizure like spasms. Because my husband asked to speak to a manager twice, the front desk worker was told by the manager to call the cops and have us thrown out. The cops eventually came. One spoke to me and I explained what was going on. The cop they called to throw us out was told everything that we were never told about their so-called policies. My husband is a very quiet person and was shocked when he heard the young lady calling the cops because he calmly requested to speak with the manager. The cop explained to us what was told to them. The cops were not the one who booked and paid for the room, we did. The cops were really nice and gave me a card to call the General Manager the next morning. I told him that in a situation like this, I do not start from the bottom, I go straight to the top. They never asked us to leave. But, they stayed because I told them I may need their help to get to the car because the stress was causing some back spasms. They asked if I wanted paramedics and I told them NO! The cops told me to relax and take as much time as I needed. They told hubby to get the car closer to the entrance of the hotel and they (the cops) helped me to the car. We are not disrespectful people. If something was promised and paid for, we should’ve gotten it. I came here to celebrate my birthday and to surprise a friend I grew up with who was celebrating her 50th birthday. I am very disappointed by the manager and would NEVER tell advice anyone with or without a disability to stay here. I lived in Florida for years, then I moved to Georgia over 10 years ago. Discrimination against a disabled person is unacceptable. I called their Corporate Office the next morning and our money was immediately refunded... Comfort Suites Sawgrass you tried to scam the wrong people!
