My husband and I stayed with our daughter. We originally booked the room for 2 nights but ended up cutting our losses and leaving the next day. When we walked in, all we could smell was mildew/mold and I noticed 2 large areas where the carpet was black with little black spots everywhere. I needed to heat up a bottle but there wasn't a microwave, which is 100% okay, so I used the coffee pot to get some hot water. There were still bags of coffee in the filter part so they obviously didn't clean very well. Bathroom wasn't clean, there was some sort of dirt (i guess) on the lampshade. The mattresses are basically plywood they're so hard, whatever, I can handle that. What I can't handle is all the mold and uncleanliness. I've been perfectly content in some dingy hotel rooms but this was the worst. It has so much potential! There was a door leading to a back patio and it's right on the water. It would be the perfect place to stay but right now it just needs to be condemned.…
We arrived late Friday evening in the rain. Awoke to continued rain and the boat rental place cancelled due to bad weather. We departed at 2:00 Saturday, still no one had arrived at the front desk or answered our phone calls. We were sure the hotel would understand the circumstances and not charge us for 2 nights. The rain continued through Monday after we departed. There was local flooding. The hotel still charged us for 2 nights and when we called and requested the manager to call us back, they never did. Unacceptable customer service. The rooms are not as pictured. We had a 2 bedroom room but the only place to sit was on the bed as the chairs on the porch were completely rusted and there is no other sitting area in the rooms. This place is horrible and we have stayed at many hotels in the area. AVOID!!!…
Stayed 3 nights while we were scalloping in late June. Here are my Pro's and Con's Pro's-- location, boat docks, AC cold, and clean room upon arrival Con's--ice machine broken, WIFI down, rooms never service or replenished, smoke detectors laying on shelves-inoperable, front doors hard to close and lock, poor service in restaurant Can't wait to come back to area to scallop and fish...but will be staying somewhere else next time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Split floorplan with two separate sleeping areas is perfect for families. Beautiful view of the river. Loved being able to walk over to Fiddler’s and eat dinner. Will definitely be back.
My husband and I rented a suite for our stay February 16-18, 2018. We were there so my husband, who is a Shriner, could participate in the parade. We were very pleased with our room, the price, the restaurant and especially it's staff. There was a fellow by the name of Jay, that was so busy, but always so cheerful and totally helpful. We had a great wait staff the whole time. Food for the 4 meals we had there was great. Delicious and hot! We look forward to our next stay, next year.
The most positive things I can say about the Pelican Pointe Inn are that it is on the river, near the marinas, probably the best motel in the town, rooms are large, and it has a locally popular restaurant called Fiddlers. If you remember the old Florida of the 50's and early 60's, you'll feel right at home as little has changed here. But if you think of South Beach when you think of Florida, you'll want to take a pass. There is no beach here. This is more like Stephen Foster's Swanee River. It's a place where people go fishing on the Gulf in Spring and Fall and gather shellfish in Summer. As an overnight place after fishing all day on the Gulf, it fills the bill, just don't expect up-to-date accommodations or amenities like Wifi.
The three of us stayed here to go scalloping. We booked a three bed suite overlooking the river. It was a long ride to the gulf because of the idle zone. Our room was clean and cool, the ac worked great. There were two beds and a bathroom separated from the main living area. The other bed was in the main room next to the sink and microwave kinda separated from the living room. The cleaning crew came in every morning and picked up the dirty towels, left fresh ones and straightened the beds up. We had screened in porch with four chairs. We tied our boat up at the canal pier which we could see from our room. The staff was very friendly and offered us advice on where to go scalloping on a daily basis. The Inn also has a restaurant that we ate at every day. They have a seafood buffet on the weekends that is very good, but be prepared to wait for a seat. Overall it's a good as it gets in Steinhatchee. …
We started out with a three bed one bath room. This was labeled a double room. However when we discovered the person in the third bed would have to enter the bedroom to access the bathroom we upgraded to their suite. This was perfect. The bedroom had its own bath & the third bed another full bath. There was an actual living room & kitchen area with a screened lanai. Although it wasn't the Ritz, it was clean & comfortable and only $175 a night. It's right on the Steinhatchee River with docks for your boat should you have one. The Fiddlers Restaurant on the property is good with a full bar & open for breakfast and dinner. We will be back.
We stayed here for three nights while my partner visited her parents. Steinhatche is an isolated community literally in the back of nowhere where dust track roads are common. Fortunately, my partners mother worked at Pelican Pointe so we found our accommodation easily. Walking into the restaurant the smell of stagnant water surrounding the restaurant did not bide well and on entering the reception staff had got our booking wrong, only a family room was ready for which they wanted additional cost. Following a truncated discussion with possibly a manager it was agreed that we would have the room at the original cost. The accommodation is set back to the side of the restaurant, easily missed by travellers. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean with air conditioning that worked well. A microwave and fridge and TV were provided. All perfectly acceptable even to the most discerning traveller. We needed to extend our stay one night and finding a receptionist to arrange this proved difficult. Following voices in the distance the receptionist was found chatting to restaurant staff in a cubby hole. Clearly annoyed I had disturbed her and with attitude that reflected zero customer service skills the extra night was arranged following yet again negotiations reflecting the cost per night of our original booking. Our accommodation and daily room service from Geni was nothing less than superb yet the disorganisation, incompetence and attitude of the front of house staff let the Inn down spectacularly.…
This is a budget type of place minus the budget price. We paid about 85 bucks this past Saturday night and we were the only ones there. The room was dated at best. Add in a 19 inch tv, and it screams.....Help me. The check in took a while as the poor girl didn't seem to know what she was doing. Not much of a view either. A make shift marina and some trailers in the distance. The enclosed balcony was very nice though. We made the best of it. This hotel is more of a seasonal type of place where sleeping and drinking probably are the favorite pastimes. It looks like it would be loud in the Summer. Just an observation.
