We try to usually stay in smaller boutique type hotels when we stay at urban hotels, and the Hotel Ranola did not disappoint in the least. The Ranola is in a small older apartment building. It has some permanent residents and about ten units available for nightly rental. It has been extensively remodeled in an art deco/contemporary style. The rooms... More

We'd be recommended elsewhere, but the Best Western was full ... and research suggested the Ranola. It's in a fabulous down town location, just off Main Street. The purple decor is a little odd, but it grew on us... and Kathy and Jim are wonderful. Our suite was really well equipped -- HD TV, free internet, kitchen with stove, coffee... More

My girlfriend and I LOVED Hotel Ranola. Booked at the last minute because of the low price, but was pleasantly surprised at how much it had to offer. The location is within walking distance of all the best places downtown. It's an older building with character, but the rooms have been completely updated and exceeded our expectations with their cute... More

Hotel Ranola is a small friendly hotel located in the center of Sarasota. This makes it convenient to all of the cultural sites available in this lovely west coast Florida city. We like to walk everywhere and from the hotel you can find restaurants, art galleries, shops, and even Whole Foods. Because the hotel is a former apartment house the... More

We stayed in a "Good to be King" suite for a couple of nights and I absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in downtown sarasota, close to restaurants etc, and wants the freedom to come and go, eat in or out, use the free wifi and is not looking for a uniformed attendant waiting to minister to every... Stayed a week with a golfing buddy. In and out self-parking right at hotel (in case you want to drive somewhere). One block to Main Street and many great restaurants(driving not necessary). Hotel is very clean, daily housekeeping, owners are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with full kitchen, wireless wifi, sofa(bed), bar with wine... More

We loved this place - each room is so charming. We felt like it was our own unique apartment! Very clean and tidy. You can walk easily to Whole Foods and grocery shop to save costs and cook in the fabulous kitchenette. Kathy was wonderful and she was even kind enough to lend us beach towels so we could swim... We stayed 1 night in a king room. It was huge - with a separate full kitchen and bistro table to drink our morning coffee. Large refridgerator, coffee pot, everything you need. It is a 1920's art-deco looking building, I believe they used to be apartments so you have plenty of room. The rooms are beautifully dedorated, modern and very... More

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Ranola for nine nights between Jan. 19 and 27, 2011. The Hotel more than met our expectations. First, Kathy, the owner, was incredibly accommodating. She provides the kind of careful attention to guests that is only available at a small hotel like the Ranola. When my wife hurt her ankle, Kathy even... More

I was down visiting some family and stayed at Hotel Ranola for 2 nights. What a great and unique place. The rooms were clean and large. The full kitchen was a plus. The interior reminds me of the type of boutique hotel abounding with charm you would find in a European city. Close to everything you might need. I would... More
