The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota receives acclaim for its attentive service and spotless accommodations, although some guests suggest that service can occasionally lag and housekeeping schedules may be inconsistent. While the beach club and pool are highlights for many visitors, others find the amenities overcrowded and not up to par. Opinions on the rooms are divided; they are recognized for their cleanliness but criticized for appearing dated and lacking value.
The vibrant atmosphere can be a drawback for those seeking tranquility, with complaints of loud music and packed spaces. Overall, the consensus suggests that the hotel may not fully justify its premium pricing.

We visit Sarasota a few times a year but it’s been about a year since we stayed at the Ritz. The hotel is starting to show its age and I wish the rooms had a modern standing shower instead of a tub, but at this hotel it’s all about the staff. From the moment we arrived Javier greeted us with a smile and took the time to chat with us. When we went out he wanted to know where we went and if we enjoyed ourselves and offered many great suggestions.
We spent most of our time at the beach club as the pool in the main building had a more limited menu for both food, drinks and service. I wish I had found the champagne bottle vending machine earlier as I could’ve enjoyed this by the main pool.
Tyrese and David at the beach club took care of us the entire time. When the pool felt as hot as a sauna David would dump some ice so it would feel more refreshing. It did even if it was just for a few minutes. The staff here is amazing! Can’t wait to return soon!

I just wrapped up a three night stay at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota and am extremely satisfied with my stay. The thing that stuck out and was constant throughout the entire stay was the level of kindness and attention we received from every single person working at this hotel. From the actual hotel itself to the beach club (and everywhere in between), each person was helpful, caring, assisting and showed pride in the hotel.
We stayed in a Marina View room. There is construction going on near the hotel so I requested that we be on the side away from the construction. Joshua from reservations was wonderful and took care of this request. The room, while not huge, was very nice. As a developer / operator of apartment buildings, I was impressed with the level at which the rooms are maintained. The showers had zero mold on them which is a feat for Florida. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had the privilege of sleeping on.
I also requested four extra towels which were in our room when we arrived. Throughout my stay, I used to the app to communicate valet and coordinate when housekeeping would come by. The response time on the app was extremely fast and accurate. Shout out to the valet at the hotel and the beach club. We found the people working at the valet to be amazing! Every time we left or returned they were waiting to greet up and offer directions, water bottles, umbrellas, etc. A true 5 star experience.
Finally, I usually never eat breakfast at the hotel, but we decided to give Jack Dusty a try the morning we departed. The food was excellent but what really made the meal was our amazing waitress. I did not get her name, however she served us outside and was delightful.
The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota is a wonderful hotel that is truly a 5 star experience on so many levels. The management team should be extremely proud of the hotel considering the difficulties of running a hotel with so many offerings, including offerings that are off site. We certainty will be returning and very much appreciate a great trip.

First time I have written a review but really thought I needed to after my stay at the Ritz, Sarasota. We decided to use up all of our Bonvoy points that we had saved for years to travel here. We expected over the top luxury as it is a Ritz Carlton and the price per night is very high.
There are two "pros" that stand out for us and that is the overall service from the staff is incredible. Greeters, Check-in, restaurant, housekeeping, beach club cabana staff and wait staff.... everywhere was exceptional. They knew we were celebrating a special birthday and had a gift sent to our room. The Club beach staff is the BEST! Love the chair/cabana staff and the service was exceptional. Secondly is the beach itself. It is absolutely beautiful. White sands, incredible shells, and perfect sunsets.
The "cons" are that the hotel itself is extremely dated. The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade, the carpet throughout is old and dirty, the pool area at the hotel (not the same as the beach club) is outdated and never gets the sun. The fitness area is old and small. They advertise Peloton bikes but they are falling apart. There is only one restaurant and one store. (very expensive) The spa is only massage rooms and hair and nail salon. Our room was on the club level but didn't realize that was going to be an extra charge to use the club service $250/night! And forget renting a cabana on the beach that will cost you $350/day. Drinks at the Beach club range from $15-$18 per. There is free coffee in the morning but you better wake up before 8am!
The biggest problem is that the beach is miles away. You have to take a shuttle on the hour (we ended up paying money for Ubers) and you are not able to get back and forth easily. On Saturday we were ready to come back to the hotel after a full day on the beach but the traffic was so backed up it was going to take over an hour to get back to the hotel so we ended up walking around town.
It appears that at this Ritz location the attention is paid to the "residence" members. The hotel has a different high rise for the residence members at the hotel location and at the Beach resort. this is where the revenue must be coming from.
I will continue my support and membership of Bonvoy as we love Marriott hotels but will not return to the Ritz Sarasota. We collected all those points from years of stays, and it makes me so sad that we used it on an outdated hotel, expensive for what was offered and far from beach location.

As world travelers, my husband and I have a taste for luxury, and know the most reputable hotels with the best reputations. The Ritz Carlton is a well known brand that we have always loved and had the best experiences in all areas of the property..from the rooms to the service. This is our 10th trip at this location in Sarasota, and what a HUGE disappointment !!! From the moment we checked in when the rude front desk person said our reservation didn't show that we requested a room away from the elevator and challenged me because he said it wasn't in his notes, to the bad food and service in the one restaurant, to the old and tired quality of the room. This is definitely NOT the experience we expect and have always received from Ritz Carlton properties. We realized it was July 4th weekend, but having a DJ blasting music from both levels and a tiny pool overcrowded with people, to having to wait at leasts 30 minutes for a server to acknowledge that we were even seated, made for a terrible birthday trip for my husband. It was a 10 hour car ride because of a flat tire, so by the time we arrived, we expected a lovely and relaxing experience. We got just the opposite and said to each other that we will never return to this property. I can't believe that this is the way RC wants to present itself, but we left knowing that this will be our last time there. Come on Ritz Carlton, someone needs to take notice and make the changes you so desperately need here.

Management is non existent (but I’m sure they reply in public…) the hotel is subpar and smells of mold. Beware allergy sufferers this hotel is not for you. It’s very dated and dirty. The executive floors are occupied with herds of unaccompanied minors who go and set up in the lounge (the executive lounge…) rooms are very small, you can hear your neighbors use the bathroom (you can hear conversations clearly as the walls are paper thin). Bedding is old and worn out. Carpet requires sandals not bare feet as it’s that dirty. The door slamming is heard from other floors and especially your same hallway. We used the bar one night and it was ok. Cappuccino was ok. Food is ehh. The valet parking ensures you have a sprinkler spotted car on departure. There is considerable building occurring all around this hotel that isn’t being disclosed. Our recommendation is to avoid this property as it’s in need of a rebranding and complete management overhaul.

Currently staying here. After being here for 24 hours we have experienced enough that we can write an honest review. The management at this property is awful. This hotel should not have the Ritz brand. The only positive are the employees who are friendly and work hard.
Housekeeping needs a lot of improvement. Rooms are dirty. After checking in and walking in the room, We had no shower curtain, no bed sheets, hair all over the bathroom, and rotting smelly food in the mini fridge. We told the front desk lady who was nice and tried to fix it. Unfortunately only half was fixed. The housekeeping manager was rude and did not offer an apology. All he did was give us baking soda to cover up the dirty smell. He was mean about it too.
The rooms need updating. The furniture looks old with parts chipped and peeling. Looks like they should be at a second hand shop, not the Ritz.
The main pool is closed. So if you want to use a pool you have to take a shuttle to the beach. With a main amenity closed you’d expect a reduction in the resort fee. But no they still fully charge you the resort fee.
So in conclusion, if you want to pay $1000 a night to stay at a dirty hotel with old furniture and no pool this is for you. Or, save the money and stay at a cheaper hotel with cleaner rooms and a pool. The choice is obvious…

While the Sarasota Ritz was once worth the money and provided luxurious accommodations, I feel that they have fallen off in recent years, especially for the price. When we checked in we were greeted by friendly staff and helped up to our room by a helpful bellhop. But, when looking at the elevator and the luggage cart, both seemed dated, with the paint and numbers rubbing off of both. Once, we got to our room we noticed stains on the carpet, the bed headboard rubbing off in multiple spots and the base also destroyed. Throughout the night we had issues with our plumbing including the shower whistling the entire time it was on, our toilet making loud noises anytime someone around us was showering, and not being able to use the apps on the TV, or watch certain channels without static. While the restaurant Jack Dusty and the views are unbeatable, this hotel is not what it used to be and is definitely not the standards I would expect from the Ritz. For $1,000 a night, I wish I would have chosen another hotel in the area, but chose the Ritz out of convenience for a company party. The staff and service are what make this property stand out, but the accommodations need some work, especially at the prices they are charging.

Unfortunately the Ritz did not live up to its reputation or cost on this visit.
Our room was dated, snacks were stale, the frig was warm and contents looked old. The carpet was worn out and had snags in multiple areas. The sink made gurgling sounds and the shower/bathtub looked like it was 10 years old
Jack Rusty was fantastic and the beach club was solid as usual…..but the room experience did not justify the cost.

We discovered the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club and Residences during a Thanksgiving holiday vacation at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota hotel years ago. We had an amazing experience and always wanted to come back and stay on Lido beach!
We were fortunate to be able to find the perfect unit to rent and we’re wrapping up our second month at the Ritz-Carlton Beach Residences, and so grateful we had such a positive experience!
From the moment we arrived, we didn’t want to leave! Our experience has been amazing. The unit we rented (308) is beautiful and so nicely appointed. We originally planned to dine out often, but with the amazing kitchen, living, grill/firepit area, and so many local options for produce, meat, seafood, and specialties, we ended up cooking at home more than we expected—it’s been a fun adventure exploring and trying new things!
Our overall experience has been just as incredible. During a summer visit to confirm this was "the" one, I was warmly greeted by the front desk team and met Ellyne, the assistant manager. Her enthusiasm for the property and her role in on-site activities was contagious, she "sold" me on staying here and she kept in close touch with us leading up to our stay. Throughout our entire visit, communication was flawless, and the management and concierge team made us feel like part of the community from day one. Special thanks to Ivana, Rodolfo, Ellyne, and the concierge team—Chryss, Keenan, Alp, Carlos, and Peter—for their amazing service.
Dining at Ridley’s Porch was a highlight, with stunning views, sunsets, and exceptional service from the valet team (Fico, David, Thomas), Chef Eddy, Sous Chef Austin and bartenders (Cyrene, Michelle, Yonney). The French and Spanish wine dinners were outstanding, and happy hour was a favorite, with delicious food and drinks. A special thank you to Juan Cordoba, Director of Beach Club Operations, you run an impressive organization - everyone was wonderful. Also, a special thanks for arranging a last-minute food order for our Super Bowl boat ride—it was perfect!
At the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, Demar’s leadership stood out. He and his team—Mike, Luke, AJ, Tyler, Keefer, Grace, Evan, and Gabriela—went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect beach spot daily. The service was exceptional, and we loved the beach’s peaceful atmosphere, perfect for long walks and shell collecting. The food and drink options were great, and service from Jessie, Cesar, Raul, Eric, Eduardo, Kira, Leah, Tash, Piero, Alian, Patricia, and Adriana made everything seamless.
We’ve had an unforgettable time here and hope to return next year! Thank you to everyone at the Ritz-Carlton Beach Residences for making this experience so special.
